@@dingbatjack1234 you are certainly not wrong my friend, it is one genius slab of cool hardware. The tangibility factor certainly is enticing, and I'm pretty sure after using it for a few weeks it would be strange going back to a cold, sterile interface. Haptic vibrations next? That would be a Godzilla-sized sumo mthrfkr!

Exactly. I have 6 Roli Lightpads that I connect together to mostly get this same effect. I was figuring out one Erae would be a better deal than several Roli lightpad Block M's. Over a couple months of getting them one at a time for $50-$100 each, going the Roli route is cheaper. But I still want the erae haha
@ET2carbon

@@dingbatjack1234 it is, read my last comment. Everything you do on erae you can do with 6 connected lightpad block m's. The cool thing is if you want to jam with friends, you just seperate the magnetic connections and everyone can have their own lightpad to play. Another benefit, it breaks down smaller for transport. And it's cheaper. Also there's bluetooth MIDI. But I still want erae

Hey, my comment is in a KZfaq video! I'm famous or something! I love the idea of MPE, but I haven't been able to get too much practical use out of my QuNeo. I really like all the different setups the Erae Touch has, and that visual feedback looks great!

So I bought the Erae Touch because of your video. It arrived last week and since then, I am trying to get it to work, but it's just sending normal Midi and no MPE data. It doesn't matter if I am trying it in Cubase, Ableton or Bitwig. Neither the USB or Midi Port is sending MPE data. Working on a Macbook Air M1 and Ventura 13.1. I'd tried it with Pigments, Equator2, Kult and Abyss. My Roli Seaboard Block on the other hand is working fine. And because of there lacking customer service I am more than just frustrated. I opened last week a ticket. Got yesterday one response. I answered immediately and still got no response from them. In there forum I saw and read since last week, from many disappointed and frustrated customers. It's a shame, cause there product has potential, and I would love to play my MPE Soft Synths with it. But sadly I bought (because of this video) a product that does't work like it should. If one of your viewers is thinking to buy from them, they should know, that there on there own. One could also get the impression, that the company is fully aware of this problems (incomplete and defective product) because in Apple Audio-Midi-Setup one can see, that there MPE port is not detected, and they wrote it in there own forum 7 months ago. So it seems to be a MacOs problem and they know of it. And now I am still waiting for a refund response. It feels like fraud to me!

Hi Traum! I’m really sorry to hear that! Of course I understand the frustration and I will communicate this to @embodme in hopes that they can respond appropriately, as my primary objective is that my viewers such as yourselves are well served when I recommend a product. As I said in the video, this is a first impressions video and I’m only speaking about my experience with the device until now, which has been mainly positive. I appreciate you letting me know about this so I can investigate further and make the proper disclaimer in the final review if the customer service is a liability. I hope your issue gets resolved satisfactorily as well as quickly🙌🏻 thanks for watching and please keep me posted✌🏻

@@MidlifeSynthesist Thx! I hope it too! I'd ordered it, with using your discount code. And to be clear, instead of my money back, I just want it to work. But with as good as no costumer service, I am also afraid of problems with the erae touch that may come in the future. Will see! And I definitely will keep you posted! And watching your videos!

@@MidlifeSynthesist FYI here are a few forum posts from 4 months ago, from customers who had the same issues that I have: Can someone confirm that their MPE still works ? Mine seems not be picked up by Reaper or Bitwig (4.1.6) any longer. Standard Midi works fine. //jon Answer: Note for Mac users: you should forget the ERAE Touch MIDI device in the MIDI setting menu for the new MIDI MPE USB device to be detected. Next one: "forget"? you mean delete? my brand new unit just arrived with 1.11!! i updated to 1.25 first thing, but have had big time problems getting mpe to work, getting Live to work, getting a connection with erae lab. I deleted the audio midi icon with the Erae disconnected, but now i cannot get the icon back when i reconnect, i obviously cannot connect to erae lab, and i have no idea how to proceed. Terrible docs, and having to look through the sparse forum postings for what should be somewhat of an expected issue? really annoyed right now //nelson

@@MidlifeSynthesist Other known issues from 17 Days ago, from several customers with no response: V1.3 double notes Let me start by saying that V1.3 solves a lot of issues for me, I love how intuitive it is to set the channel/CC values on the Erae Touch itself. That said, from time to time there's a second note when I only press a key once, very shortly after the initial note. This happens quite often, but is unpredictable. It also happens when using midi effects like the note repeat. There it's even worse, because the second note is not in time with the others. I like running sounds played like that through a delay, but those extra off-beat notes turn it into a gigantic mess. Can you confirm that this is not just my unit? Looking forward to a fix :) Huh I've been seeing similar behaviour when pressing a button. Not sure if it's because of the latching option or not. To be clear, this is very important to me. I have some ideas for live streams, but with this issue it's just not going to work. After some more testing the USB midi still drops out from time to time as well, unfortunately. When I pull out the USB cable and plug it back in, it works again. For practice it's not a huge deal, but I can't have all the sequences/arpeggiators/etc. suddenly stop mid performance. I'll see if I can try the TRS midi soon too. Does it happen with keys, keygrid, drumpad, buttons? I can try to replicate the situation. I'm also looking to implement the erae as part of a live setup. Maybe the double press is cause of the sensitivity. I've not long got mine and noticing straight away that I'm getting double drum hits on the drum pads, potentially happening on keygrid but maybe less obvious!

@@MidlifeSynthesist And here is another one, with no response: Silicone pad came off 25 days ago I've recently received my Erae Touch. After about two weeks the silicone pad came loose from the metal bottom plate when someone picked the device up. Nothing seems to be broken, but I can't see how to reattach it firmly. Any suggestions? Thanks! 3 days ago I've not been able to solve the issue yet I have noticed that the pad has more noticeable acoustic sounds while I play, and is less accurate in triggering. I'm still keen to hear if you have any suggestions.

One MPC goes... another better MPE comes... man! that MPC was boring anyway (and antiquated). This one is a must I guess.... at least for me because I want it as a Drum Pad, which I heard is very cool as.... also, as a "wild card" controller for maybe X/Y Pads and SoftSynths using Cubase Quick Controlls.... I´ve lots of expectations about this one... I´ve got it on sight. Let´s see what you can do with it, maybe become the Marco Parisi of Embodme (Taetro is on the game too) Lots of success 👍

I have this, the roli seaboard 49 key (v1) and the linnstrument .. imho the linnstrument is a little bit more responsive (and the roli one level above that due to the larger movement range). Nothing against this KZfaqr, but I get sort of sick of the media blitz put by these companies when they release a new product. We get lots of videos with mostly glowing reviews with no real substance. How do we trust reviews where they get the products for free?
@MidlifeSynthesist
@MidlifeSynthesist Жыл бұрын
Hello my friend! I think you are 100% right, the correct mindset SHOULD be not to trust me until I’ve earned that trust👍🏼 If you go back and see my video catalog, you’ll see that maybe 10% (if not less) of the gear I’ve reviewed has been given to me. All the rest have been paid for out of my pocket. That’s because I actually use the gear I have and I absolutely LOVE exploring gear, making music and making videos like this one. Another important disclaimer is that I’ll sometimes do an “initial impressions” video on gear like this one, but I never do a full review until after a few months have passed so I’ve gotten out of the honey moon fase and seen the ugly bits as well. That way I try to avoid hyping a device that may have big flaws. Anyway, I just hope you enjoy the videos and maybe learn a bit more about a device you might be interested in or find use for. Cheers 🤟🏻

It's been 10 months and you still haven't produced a proper review video. It seems that this device doesn't excite you very much, or you would be featuring it a lot (it's very video friendly). The concept seems amazing on paper, but I guess that in real life this particular product isn't that useful...
@MidlifeSynthesist

Hi Peter! It’s actually quite the contrary. It’s one of my favorite and most flexible MIDI controllers and I’ve used it in many videos and instagram reels alongside the gear being reviewed or jams (I think the latest was on the Phasor video). The amount of screen time a device gets usually doesn’t have so much to do with how much I like it, it’s more of how appropriate it is for what I’m doing in that video (e.g. octatrack and polybrute are 2 of my favs and they get painfully little screen time yearly). But you are right, it’s about time I do a proper review! Hopefully I’ll be able to produce one before the end of the year. Thanks for watching and see you soon!

@@MidlifeSynthesist Well, the Touch was shown in 4 out of 17 of your YT videos in the last 6 months. It was always shown very briefly before it is quickly replaced by other gear in the videos. It was always used simply as a keyboard. Nothing fancy. What you seemed to have used the most in those 5 months is MPC X SE. The gear in your videos is typically featured by many other youtubers who all compete for the same slice of audience's attention. It seems that businesswise a unique and awesome product that isn't featured on YT all that much would be the perfect source of views for you... This feels strange to me and this is not an accusation. I'm simply sharing the vibes I sense from your content - especially regarding the use of Erae Touch. I was thinking of buying the Touch so I am gathering data. I thought that you would confirm that the Touch is actually not that useful and share some cautionary tales. Instead you say that it is awesome, but you haven't made a review of it after 10 months and you pretty much don't use it for your YT content. The reality I see in your YT content makes it seem like this controller isn't actually very useful or inspiring for you... which curbs my enthusiasm for this product. I imagine that if it indeed had been awesome and useful, you would have created a solid workflow around it and featured it on your channel more prominently... The Touch's lack of presence on YT in general only supports my suspicions. It's hard to imagine why such a seemingly awesome tool isn't exploding everywhere. It seems that there is some catch... Yes, it's not cheap, but for example MPC X SE is 3x the price an it is featured plenty on YT...
