That's rare to hear in Baguio city for a taxi driver to ask for a "fixed price" unless if we are talking about going to a neighboring distant towns outside Baguio, its the only time you can talk about price because its like you are already hiring him/his taxi to bring you to a bit far destination... but your hotel is just near Burnham park. I just hope you don't sensationalize the encounter because the way to ride a taxicab in Baguio is to flag, hop in & just tell your destination, you don't have to tell him to use the meter because they automatically start it the moment it moves, its not like metro Manila wherein you flag & have to talk first to the driver through the window about your destination & see if he wants to go to your destination before you even enter his taxicab & they usually even have to ask for additional saying a lot of blah blah blah excuses/reasoning like 'traffic'. Not like that in Baguio they have a reputation of being the nicest & most honest in the Philippines & if you are trying & being frugal my tip is better use the jeepneys, grab is twice the price of those regular taxis or even just walk & enjoy, its a very safe & walkable city w/ decent sidewalks. And I don't have to talk about food, Baguio is a food haven, use your phone & you can find so many different cuisines, nice restaurants & cafés around the city.

I visit Baguio at least 3 times a year.. fortunately never have I encountered a taxi asking for a fixed fare/rate.. all of the taxis na nasakyan ko charge by the meter and they give exact change. Grab service is also available in Baguio 🤔

pls get the plate number report it to the authorities that is how you help others. Baguio taxi's are supposed to using metered unless if its too far or going outside Baguio.

wow, first time ako makarinig ng taxi na humingi ng fix rate within city location, loko dayta nga driver, atleast d nyo sinakyan, been riding taxi every week days since im night shift at d ko pa na chambahan mga yan, report nyo po agad mga ganyan since baguio do not tolerate that kind of behavior, madadael piman image ti taxi drivers tau dtoy baguio no kasta.

we have grab taxis here in Baguio po and taxi drivers should always use meter;if they insist on not using meter, you can actually complain that to the city government because they dont allow those kinds of things here in Baguio. if its in Manila, then maybe you dont have a choice but here in baguio they will be penalized for doing that.
