Hi. I'm Danish and i have a few comments: 1) You are correct that Christiania in Cobenhagen is pretty much a seperate part og cph. It is filled with drugs and whatever comes with it like gangs and cops, but as long as you don't antagonize the citizens there, they are usually pretty chill. That being said, violence DO occur from time to time; so beware! 2) This video and most other traveling channels only show the capitol, but the countryside is even more beautiful!

Chirstiania was a military facility, but not any time recently. It is the remains of a star fortification. Old castles with high walls and tall round turrets were made to defend against archery, catapults, and rams, but they quickly went out of fashion when cannons came along, for which they only served as target practice. Star forts had low walls, stone over earth, angled up to deflect cannon balls, in a pointed configuration to give coverage over all of the approaches. Modern artillery, in turn, put the star forts out of business. If you look at an aerial view of Copenhagen, it becomes very obvious that this is what Christiania is. To the north, across the water, you can see the main star fort, labeled Kastellet. Chistiania would have served as the outer defenses, two rings of jagged teeth pointing mostly southeast. If the outer defenses were ever overrun, the defenders would beat a hasty retreat and the Kastellet would pound on the invaders till they changed their mind. The configuration suggests they were mostly worried about invaders from the water, especially their nearest neighbors (yes, we are looking at you, Sweden!). You will find star forts throughout Europe and even in America, with Old Quebec City probably the most obvious example.

In Christiania about everything you described is true but they don’t sell drugs, they sell only weed and it’s really chill and peaceful place in danmark.

And the weed sale is actually not legal, but happens anyway.

I’m from Copenhagen, Christiania is a old abandoned military base, the hippies and some homeless and criminals move into the abandoned military base in the 70’s. and build a society of them own. we have a, kindergarten, works shops, a beautiful market, and a lot of place to eat if you’re vegan of vegetarian. We have cafè’s with live music and an a lot more. So that’s Christiania or Freetown.

Actually, the singer Lukas Graham (7 years) is from Christiania. He's very vocal about the place, and sticks up for the freetown in the media. Also - it's impossible to buy an apartment in Christiania, you have to be invited to live there. Pretty weird, pretty cool also :D

@@Nynke_K Ohhh don't start. History of the comma rules: coherent set of rules --> it needs to be looser so the old rules + if you feel like the text needs it (after all the comma is used as a short break in a sentence) --> oh now noone know where to put them...eh scatter where ever!

Ooh I hope it's sunny when you arrive here, Copenhagen is like orchidé and it truly comes alive on sunny days. If you have the time definitely go to the Queen Louises Bridge! It's in the very center of the city, you can't miss it. Let me know if you need further pointers. Cph is an amazing city.

First of all: yes, yes, yes to going in the summer. Also dress in layers. A English man once remarked that Denmark had extreme weather and I thought: "We don't have hurricanes!?" We can however have up to 4 seasons of weather in one day. Last week there was a weather report - and I kid you not - that said between 15 and 28 degrees (celcius), sunny and overcast with a chance of rain....and it was! Instead of strøget (the walking street in the video) go down Vestergade. It's the street to the left of strøget if you're standing on Rådhuspladsen (big spuare next to Tivoli) Everything on the left of that street is nice to check out when it's your first time there because it's central and close to the big tourist things so it won't feel too daunting. Tivoli is as much a money grab as any amusement park but it's worth going at least once because it is pretty and Liliputian. Also there are concerts every friday throughout the summer and they are included in the price of the ticket. You can check their website for the schedule: tivoli.dk

im absolutely impressed that you could pull out your phone and FILM inside Kristiania, not to mention that you were absolutely lucky that the guys that walked by didn't took the phone of your hands and made you delete the footage. Also the comments were a little bit judgy about the people there... I brought my grandma to Kristiania and ate some incredible vegan food there, so nothing is all bad there... just so you know.

It is true that Tivoli is the world's second oldest amusement park .. but the oldest park is just north of Copenhagen in Klampenborg it is called "Bakken". Bakken (The Hill) can be traced back to around the 1650s

April 2019 - K&N film the video August 2019 - we use it as research for our Copenhagen trip. We visit Sankt Peders Bageri for the first time. February 2020 - we visit for the second time (my son even manages to get his onsdagssnegle back to the UK and eats it on the train from the airport to home) August 2021 - travel finally opens a bit more and we visit again. Onsdagssnegle are eaten again this time really warm and straight from the oven! Yum!! October 2021 - our crazy Copenhagen adventure starts again with us moving o Copenhagen for 6-12 months.

You ever care to read the effing title ? Clearly says first impressions, and this is exactly the tourist traps, which most tourists will see first. It's all great locations (maybe with the exception of the bakery, since there are so many better ones), if it's their first visit to Copenhagen.
@sebastianjeppesen11374 жыл бұрын
The review wasn’t poor bro. They have just been misinformed, and perhabs didn’t visit the most exciting of attractions. I would say that the review was actually pretty good because of their respect for the places they visited, and because of the purpose of the video being to show Copenhagen from a tourist’s perspective. Don’t be buthurt when tourists don’t fully understand and comprehend the culture of an entire new country. It sends a message which is embarracing for all of us Danes, and is in my eyes, more unrepresentitive of the Danes than this video is about Copenhagen.
