Blended from Virginia tobacco with dark cavendish and extra matured black cavendish with a small amount of Perique and Latikia . Flavored with cinnamon, wine and anise. This blend was popular in England prior to 100 years ago but was rediscovered. The anise addition is interesting as anise was popular as a flavoring before WW1 but all but disappeared from tobacco blending till about 7 years ago. This blend was once referred loosely as a Christmas mixture which was idea with a enjoyed with hot cider or smoking Bishop.

It smells like a barn. Kinda reminds me of Isla scotches. Has that dank leather, hay, campfire smell. In a good way. I also get a light floral note in the end when I smell it.

Thanks for this timely reminder; I saw this today just as I was putting together an order from Smokingpipes, and of course added a tin since I'd wanted to try it for a while. It includes my first Peterson System pipe, something I've wanted for ages. Today it's a reward...part of my celebration of debt freedom as of a couple of weeks ago. I tried this last year and really liked it. I do however have a hard time packing and keeping it lit. I have 2 tins of special reserve cellaring, we'll see how they are in a couple of years.

I love smoking plum pudding in my meerschaum pipe instead of my cobs. It's hard to isolate the flavors but some of them are smoky bbq, tangy, tingly like menthol, lots of other flavors that are hard to describe. it smells nice too! medium-mild in nicotine. It's a relaxing smoke when getting closer to bedtime. I like peter stokkebye luxury bullseye flake or mac baren vanilla creme with coffee in the morning.

I am still fairly new to the pipe smoking hobby (started last year in September). Plum Pudding was the first non-aromatic I tried and I really enjoyed it. Keep doing what you're doing Bradley. I'm really thankful for your channel, especially the tobacco reviews. God Bless, Eric

Iv only had the sutliff plum pudding. That being said it is one of my favorite blinds.

I’ve been wondering when you’d do plum pudding. I like this blend more than I would have thought I should. I typically avoid cavendish, but I find myself returning to plum pudding frequently. It seems to scratch every itch. I recently acquired the Plum Pudding Special Reserve and am looking forward to trying it soon.

Before Sutliff got ahold of this, it had more Latakia and What i thought was pretty prominent. I bought some 3 years ago and smoked every bit of what I bought. Back then you could get it in tin or bulk. I got an 8 ounce tin in January of this year because I’ve been craving it again. It is different in my opinion than what it used to be. Granted it’s still a great smoke, but the orientals are amped up a bit and the Latakia is settled.

I had some PP special reserve and it was very good at least for my taste buds. I asked a fellow KZfaqr if he thought it was better than just the standard PP. he said not worth the price so I will have to try the standard PP. I really enjoyed the special reserve. Take care Bradley

I want to like this. I was ecstatic when I opened the tin and smelled it. But every time I smoke this I get a foul taste in my mouth a short way into the bowl. I’m cellaring some and hoping it gets better!

Wow - never realize that this was now being manufactured by Sutliff! Just bought a new tin and added it to the mason jar with about a fourth of the previous version....oops! Will see if that does anything funny, but too late to separate it out now. Good video and information, as always. Cheers!

I am trying to figure out how to order a pipe from Savinelli. I cannot order from their website, because I live and the U.S., and when i search elsewhere, the pipe seems somewhat 'different.' Its darker and the weight isnt the same as whats listed on Savinelli's website. How do I order it?

It looks like you are using a bic lighter. Does that impart any kind of a chemically flavor? I used a Zippo once, and all I could taste for the entire bowl was lighter fluid.

I just open a tin of this for the frst time. The smell out of the tin is incredibly acrid, to the point it hurts your nostrils. The whole thing semlls a bit manuerish. Is this normal?
