Looking at this exact combo are you still happy with the set up? I also have a frontier 12 and was wondering about the stability being 35” wide vs the 41 I’m use to?

@@KillenNReelinoutdoors I love mine. The Pursuit is stable and I've stood up in some really bad stuff with no issues. What it lacks in width it has in length. Plenty of deck space and it tracks really really well. I've paddled, used my Xi3 and a bow mount and all handle really really well. I fish from a number of different boats, aluminum 12ft and a bass boat sometimes, and this is by far my favorite to bass fish in. I've hit small local ponds and large lakes and it handles both with ease.

Charlie Boutin, any tips on trimming the xi3 shaft? I have a 54" shaft looking to trim down to 36". Equally nervous ;)

Cory Leonard, I typed it in on KZfaq and there’s a few videos about it. I used a 2 foot long, 1/2” piece of EMT (electrical pipe) to sleeve over the wires and into the shaft to protect them while cutting and redrilling hole, it’s what I had on hand. Others used PVC. The shaft is a composite kind of like fiberglass, and I cut it with a plumbing pipe cutter that clamps on, then you rotate and tighten it on every revolution. I’m sure a hacksaw would work also. Then I just used red wire nuts to redo the connections in the head. Just be sure to line up head with motor when redrilling the hole. I also kept it laying down on it’s side, and used Shopvac to keep shavings from going down the shaft into the motor. It took about 40 minutes or so. Hope this helps! 👍👍

Those are legit! You can get the quick release motor bracket from Motorguide. One piece mounts to your bow the other mounts to the bottom of your motor and a U shaped pin holds them together

I imagine if you thought hard enough about making some type of mount for the stern Maybe? Your steering would be opposite because there’s no reverse. I wouldn’t recommend it

Pao Yang no I have not. It may happen in really big stuff but I haven’t had an issue yet.

Just an update from mines after 6 months. Having issues with my spot lock. It will turn a qurter than either lean to one side and keeps on spinning until all the cord cant stretch anymore. And its straight heading will change directions 180 after a minute. Its rather really annoying. Ive tried changing batteries, and recalibrating multiple times. The gps module might have an issue figuring out its location. Have you run across this issue after a year or so?

@@pywifishingandoutdoors i had the same problem, replaced gps module, worked fine for 1/2 a season, then started to act up again. Too expensive to spend $350 for each replacement.

Thanks! It handles great in the wind. It will pull me along at 3.8- 4.3 depending on the conditions. The Nucanoe Pursuit is 88 pounds.

I have run a 48” without cutting it. It works just fine but that head sticking up so high does tend to get in the way sometimes.

If I’m paddling I’ve most likely got the motor out of the water in the stowed position so there really is t any added resistance

@@derekbrundlefishingI know you have it stowed when paddling , just didn't know if weight on bow made it hard to paddle..I tried it out and ordered a 2021 pursuit , definitely going to get the motor guide and power pole.. We have some great fishing in NH ..I'm done with bass boats .

I’m not sure if the 54ah is enough. I’ve always run the 100ah just for the simple fact that I know I will never need more than that. There are sometimes when I keep 2 100ah on the yak if I know I need to do a ton of long range, full power runs, but those are few and far between. I’ve gotten 15 hours my 100ah for a normal use day and still didn’t run out. My suggestion is get the 100 but that’s just me

Hi jim it is designed for use on a kayak. We use lithium batteries so they last a good long while and are fairly light compared to a lead acid battery. This kayak has a 600lb weight capacity so I’m not worried about it sinking. Thanks for commenting much appreciated!

@@derekbrundlefishing That is not what I have been told and I have only heard that from folks like yourself on KZfaq. In no other research, including talking to their support personnel and the sales folks at BassPro, have I seen or heard anything about that motor being specifically designed for kayaks. And it it certainly not in the product manual so all evidence points to it not being such. If it works, great. I personally think it's way too heavy for most kayaks, but if yours is that heavy, maybe not a problem. It would flip mine, lol. My Bass Tracker that I have it on is about 850 lbs empty, add a couple of 250 guys and gear, well you get the idea. And it moves us just great, pretty fast on the upper speeds. So when I questioned this, that was my basis. If no literature anywhere says its for a kayak and it can move 1500+ lbs pretty fast, I cannot imagine what it would do to a kayak.

@@derekbrundlefishing A quick note, I did find where they refer to the motor with the 36 inch shaft perfect for a kayak. But not "designed for." And only the 36 inch shaft, every time i queried on it. They make s few shaft lengths. I have the 48 inch version. Maybe that's our difference.

That’s a little further than I’ve been, but it’s certainly possible. On my first trip I went from San Diego to Hawaii (much cheaper than flying lol). Best part is it handled the waves like a champ! Good luck, and remember….ALWAYS wear a pfd.
