Mr. Sam, A few days ago I watched your Herb slow roasted salmon video from 6 years ago. I thought this would be perfect for my 93-year-old mother and 90-year-old father-in-law. I can't stand salmon; however, they both love it so, today 9-5-22 I made it on my little portable Pit Boss smoker. I followed your recipe and used "Q" 100% Alder wood pellets. My father-in-law was blown away at how good it was. He even commented it was better than his other daughter's (not my wife) salmon dish. Trust me that high praise. She is a nutritionist and cooks in a test lab. A number of years ago my mom had a salmon dish at a 5-star Las Vegas restaurant. That salmon became her benchmark, until today. She wigged out at how good it was. At least 25 times she said this is the best ever. I told her, I wish I had a bigger smoker to make larger batches. She actually offered to buy me a larger smoker. So, thank you very much for your video. As an admitted and proud Mama's boy, I live to do everything I can for my mom. Your recipe made her so happy and that made my day. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

The self-closing feature you suggested would be a nice addition, but there is one other addition that I think it should have even more, and I'm kind of disappointed that it doesn't. It needs a rotisserie! It could easily be built into the sides just like the supports for the removable racks. They could make it so the height of the rotisseries could vary to allow for various sizes of items to be cooked on it, or maybe even have three separate rotisserie slots so one large item could cook using the center rotisserie or several smaller items could cook at the same time using all three. It wouldn't be at all difficult to build that into this grill; I don't know if Traeger is responsive to your feedback, but if they are, you should pass that on to them!

Umm never had 30-50 temp swings in my Timberline...only time my Temp was that far off from what I set it to was when I raised the temp or when first starting it up. I have used it in high winds, rain (with sun canopy over it..) and 20F degree temps. Not sure if you were using an older Timberline but the just now uncurrent Gen version at least for me in my home location never has those large of Temp swings...it does change some but then you do want smaller temp swings to give better smoke flavor to your meat...

I have the Recteq 700 and once I set the temp, I never have to worry about any temp changes more than 5-8 degrees and that is rare when it does. That would indeed be a nice addition to any grill.

See you got that mind haze! That’s some good brew. For the Traeger though: $3800 is quite a steep price for features you can get for 1/3 of the price or less. Someone else mentioned that they added the induction burner and 1500 to the price. That’s not worth it to me. I won’t pimp the brand but I got my pellet grill for $800 and a Blackstone for $300. They do everything this can do. And having a Blackstone is way more versatile.

Great when sponsored/partnered, and don't get me wrong the unit in this video is top of the line, and their more common priced grills are good a product no doubt, but mostly namebrand whoring when people buy a traeger for $800 or $1000 or $1500. Shop around, lots of better options exist at similar or cheaper price points. Same goes for buying pellets, racks, etc. Traeger pellets are just artificially flavoured alder tree wood and soy filler lol. Other brands use legit wood.

As a previous user of the Traeger+ system, I was a bit skeptical about making the switch to Asmoke. However, having experienced the difference, I have to say that Asmoke has truly raised the bar for pellet grills. The precise temperature control, the convenience of the digital controller, and the flavorful smoky taste from the wood pellets have truly transformed my grilling experience. The portability, coupled with the rechargeable battery that offers up to 10 hours of runtime, is just icing on the cake. It's perfect for tailgating and camping trips. I also love the fact that Asmoke uses recycled wood materials for the pellets, making it an environmentally friendly choice. The Asmoke Essential has truly changed the way I do grilling, and I am excited to see what I can cook up next with it. #Asmoke

Okay Sam, this is awesome! Now, you are so into recipes, and different flavors. So, for you and everyone else. When smoking with pellets, the beauty is, you can season with the wood as well as herbs. Depending on what your cooking, you do not have to use just Pecan or Hickory or whatever. You can make a mix, in different portions, for a different flavor. Say, mostly Pecan, little bit of Apple or Cherry, with just a smattering of Mesquite. That one's awesome with Pork by the way. I know it's more difficult to do this when working from a bin, rather than a small smoke canister, but man is it worth it.

Sam, if you want to experience the best (yes, THE BEST) salmon, look up Jacque Pepin’s method: basically 200F for 35 - 40 minutes, on the serving platter (even paper can take 200F, but I wouldn’t recommend it). Keep up the delicious good work!

Pellet smokers are a bit weaker on smoke flavor but if you want a strong smoke flavor just use a strong wood like hickory. Woods like apple or cherry don't impart flavor that well but cherry does still give that amazeballs color. I just love the set it and forget nature. Every hour just check it, spritz it, and come back in another hour. Only thing I gotta worry about is a power outage and I could just move it over to my charcoal or gas grill.

Bought one of these after watching this video and another from Meat Church. Traeger did a great job getting KZfaqrs to promote this, but the grill has been a huge disappointment. Months of time with Traeger technical support, endless forced software updates that regularly fail, multiple failed sensors. I am the proud owner of a $4,000 paperweight - have only managed a couple of cooks in 2+ months without a failure of some sort. Working to return the grill now - won't make a Trager mistake again.

Just fyi there are tons of traeger models that are PLENTY large enough for even a large family, for MUCH cheaper than this model. You can buy a small model and a thermometer for much less than this super fancy one. There's enough room to cook enough meat for approx 50 people on that thing.

Please Read This Before You Buy I have the Timberline XL version and my leaks around the door. I figured, once it gunks up it would seal off the leaks. I didn’t get the seasoning help on start up but I was able to do it manually. My biggest issue I had was on Saturday the day before Mother’s Day i was smoking a brisket for 8 hours over night, I took the brisket off and wrapped it. Put brisket back on and when I went to use the meater probe it wouldn’t connect to the grill. So I did forget the Bluetooth device and was going to reprogram and poof, screen died and everything shut off. I was on the phone with traeger for 3 hours and finally they gave up and said motherboard is fried. They are sending me a new one now. I finished brisket off in the oven and it ended up being amazing. Biggest issue is I have a 4500$ paper weight on my back patio with plans to have a pool party this Saturday for another cook. I’m so disappointed in Traeger. One more gripe, the doors aren’t level and they rub. I’ve tried all the adjustments and I still can’t get them straight. I’m trying to be patient and I hope this is the only motherboard that I’ll need to replace. Btw the induction cooktop is awesome. Meater probes sometimes connect, sometimes they don’t. Also I got a flame sensor issue the day before this thing died. Other than that, when you first hook it up to your WiFi, it took me 3 hours of failure until it finally hooked up and then another 2 hours of updates. Don’t think you’ll cook the same day you get this home. I’m going to follow this to answer any other questions people might have. I’m also posting this to every review on YT Forgot to mention, I sold my 3000$ pitts and spitts maverick 1250 for this. I never had one issue.

I would've loved if that would've been more of a review. Like actually talking about pro/cons, price maybe alternates etc. Not gonna lie that thing looks damn pretty, the screen to make the temperature & also nob from induction I like the light effekt there. However price is too expensive for me atleast but I would guess that there targeted buyers are proably people who make bbqs professional, also proably not avaible in Germany anyway xD

Wood cutting board... on top of a smoker... that is outdoors... Yes what could go wrong (terrible design unless it can just be replaced with metal parts that are included) I see a digital screen likely to have issues (again being outdoors). Downside of using only pellets vs wood chips/chunks means you can't just get normal wood to add (downside if you smoke often), plus with Tragers you can't even use it without the pellets. The nice thing about other electric smoker options is the ability to have the electric do the temperature control and add as much smoke as you want simply by adding more wood chunks/pellets/chips. Would want to see how the glass holds up as well to cast iron and if its going to scratch all up. Personally not a fan but it looks cool just think there is shortcomings in design (one of them is inherent because Trager only does pellet from my understanding which is a big drawback for someone who smokes weekly if not more often).
