Opened on June 20, 2024, "Hoshino Resort 1955 Tokyo Bay" is a highly recommended hotel with excellent access to Tokyo Disney Resort.
Hoshino Resort has grandly opened "Hoshino Resort 1955 Tokyo Bay" in the Maihama Shin-Urayasu area. The interior design is themed around America in 1955, the era when the world's first Disneyland was born, allowing guests to enjoy a special time.
The hotel was bustling with guests from Tokyo Disney Resort thanks to the free shuttle bus service. The extraordinary ambiance that lets you soak in the afterglow of the theme park, along with the beautiful sea views from the rooms, made this hotel a wonderful place to stay.

I was really impressed. I think it's because of the location and the fact that there are a lot of families going to Disneyland, but I was surprised at the level of service!

Old American here ~ Me (10-yo girl), my mom, and 2 aunts with cousins went to Disneyland (California) in 1955, the year it opened. Can't remember much about the park from that day but went many times later, great fun! This hotel looks really good for families. Some favorite decor colors in the '50's were dark brown, tan, avocado green, so they are close here. Danish chairs in dining room are right on. 'American Ruben' (at least in California): corned beef, swiss cheese, saurkraut, thousand island dressing, on rye bread, grilled. Maybe pastrami, never cheddar cheese. Thanks for the tour!

The Reuben is very interesting. In America, it is made with sauerkraut (lactic fermented cabbage). The sourness balances the richness of the beef and cheese.

I saw your youtube and subscribed! You've only just started, but your videos are so wonderful. It's fun to watch videos like this of places I've never been to. I'll try my best to make more videos myself. My advice is that it's important not to let first-time users leave, so the first 15 seconds are especially important and it might be better to move the video along quickly. But it's a wonderful video. I'll keep watching it.

This is fascinating. Have lived in the US all my life, I know and have lived with 1950s americana, experienced it first hand. Nothing about the decor of this hotel reads 1955 America. The interesting part is that it DOES look very much like 1990s dead mall america aesthetic. It brings to mind a food court that is hanging on for dear life as the anchor chains like Sears and JC Penneys have already left behind empty spaces. If it wasnt branded the way it is it would be just fine as a new hotel with lots of amenities and loads of space for large groups traveling to Disney. The food offerings in the hotel cafeteria are far more healthy and attractive than 1950s Howard Johnson's hotel/motel fare, trust me.

Agreed. There is nothing 1950's about this place. I lived in Japan for 4 years during the late 90's. I loved most things about the country. The only thing I didn't like was Japan emulating the idea of the USA. They don't comprehend America except what they see on t.v. 😢. They had NO clue and just do what they see as popular. So for them, Americans are white cowboys or rich white people and black rappers. No joke. It was sad. So if you go there, don't expect any American food to taste like it does here. The pizza was horrible. KFC was super greasy. McDonald's hamburgers tasted very weird, not like beef at all. So I ate what the locals ate instead. I stayed away from anything that was claiming to be an American favorite. They have no clue. They see a picture of something and copy it. That's as far as it goes. On base, McDonald's was legit. So if I wanted heart unfriendly foods, I ate on base. If I wanted healthy, I ate out in town. Unfortunately, the U.S. does the same with Japanese foods and mixing Asian cultures into one, yet there are a lot of differences. Not every place in the U. S. that says the food from other countries is "authentic" is actually authentic. In Columbus, Ohio, there is 1 place that serves legit authentic Japanese food and has NO twist of adding American stuff in it vs. the 50+ restaurants claiming to be Japanese or Japanese like, completely catering to Americans. So sad.😢

Thank you for your interesting comment. It's interesting to point out that even though the concept is the 1950s, it's completely different. I'm ashamed to say that as a Japanese person, I just assumed that this was the atmosphere, so I'm glad that by running this channel, I've come to understand that it's actually different! I think that Japanese people have a certain admiration for American ideas and worldviews and a desire to adopt them. However, as you pointed out, this is merely a superficial imitation and leads to a misunderstanding. As a Japanese person, I also think that we should be confident in the goodness and uniqueness of Japan. I think it's also true that many Japanese people have an image of white people and black people that comes from a lack of knowledge. It's not easy to understand correctly, but if you don't understand correctly, it can lead to hurting people. You have to be careful. I also go abroad sometimes, and I experience restaurants that advertise themselves as Japanese food as entertainment in a sense, because although they're not authentic, this is what the locals imagine authentic Japanese food to be. Lol Actually, it's fun to experience Japanese food abroad. This hotel will fit the Japanese image of America in the 1950s, so it's easy to understand why they didn't pursue the real thing. However, it will seem strange to those who know the real thing. Thank you for the valuable discussion!

@SUKIYAKITravel exactly. I grew up in NYC and had the advantage to taste many authentic foods that were maintained to be authentic. I miss that. If I wanted food from Jamaica, I would go to a specific area in Brooklyn or Queens. If I wanted food from Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic, I would go to the Bronx. If I wanted an extra large slice of pizza, I went to the Bronx around the corner from my Aunts building. The slice was over 10" long, and the whole pizza is 23-27". Brand Pizza in Manhattan, NYC, is not as big or tasty compared to the one in the Bronx. It is a neighborhood secret. And in service over 50 years. If I wanted authentic Chinese food, I would go to the inside deep part of China town in downtown Manhattan where they do not speak english and pigs and ducks hang in the window and the menu is not in english. If I wanted authentic Italian food, I would go deep into little Italy where the menu was in Italian only. I didn't eat Japanese food in NYC except the occasional sushi roll. And if I wanted authentic cheesecake, a place called Juniors in Brooklyn is the original for over 70 years. They now sell food but their food is expensive and not the best. Their cheesecake is the best and worth spending money to buy. They opened a new store in Manhattan. I later learned that Americans call sashimi what is called sushi in Japan. And call sushi a California roll. Lolol. But in Japan, there's no such thing as a California roll. Lolol. If you ever visit NYC, the best places to eat are the family owned businesses. Stay away from name brand places unless you only want to eat that kind of food. Family businesses have a long history for over 50 years. You will usually see a sign on the building or on the food menu. If they have a website, it will also tell you. Thank you for sharing and being open minded.

Thank you for your kind and polite comment. I didn't know they called sashimi sushi! I sometimes see California rolls in Japan, and I love them. Haha. In Japan, California rolls are thick rolls with avocado, tuna, etc. wrapped around them. Haha

@SUKIYAKITravel lol lol yup. They have avocado and imitation crab or just avocado and tuna. I go to a supermarket that only carries foods from Japan. The family has been in Ohio over 60 years. He maintained to keep only from Japan items. It is the only one in Columbus Ohio. Other places say Asian foods but it is a mix of Vietnamese, China, Korea, etc. The authentic Japanese store carries bento boxes for lunch plus Onigiri, sushi, sashimi, fried cutlet.. I have a hard time picking 1 or 2. Onigiri sells out by 2:00 pm. My son saw a woman put about 15 in her basket. Lol lol. 🤭🤭🤭 Maybe she had a lot of kids at home. Lol lol If I am late, I miss getting it. Sushi and Sashimi are gone by 3:30 pm. Next time, I will go before 12 noon. 🤭😋🤗

Why did you get a large room just for yourself? Also there is famous restaurant in Montreal, Quebec, Canada that has Reuben sandwiches. Thousand Islands dressing was created in Canada.

The price is excellent, but why have a balcony if you can't go out? Is there an English option for the Restaurant Machine? But what got me was the "Cabbage" in the Reuben Sandwich, like, hahaha! Cabbage served as a side okay, but in it?

@@lisabarnes2477, it's not "Cabbage" it's sauerkraut", BIG DIFFERENCE in the cooking world. Yes, sauerkraut" cabbage to start with, but it has been brined and fermented.

I didn't know we'd get so excited about the Reuben sandwich! I learned something new: sauerkraut is cabbage soaked in salt water! We were able to go outside on the balcony. It was a pretty big balcony and the breeze felt great. Great view.
