Steve Bennett Thank you 😊 You can’t knock them for the money. I love riding mine, and it’s super easy to maintain.

I just got sonder frontier and have been on a couple of rides but find it ever so rigid and can feel every bump. Did you find this to begin with?
@chasetherainbow
@chasetherainbow 2 жыл бұрын
Hi Mofman, thanks for commenting 👍 All fully rigid aluminium frames tend to be a little bit harsh. I’ve done a few things to make it more comfortable. I had a used carbon seatpost and some quite flexible carbon handlebars which I fitted. Plus I run high volume Maxxis Icon 2.4” tyres with a tubeless set up - if I’m riding gravel I tend to run about 25psi. I don’t ride it much on trails but when I do I can drop the tyre pressures to 15-18 psi with no issues. I hope that helps. I love my frontier for gravel and Bikepacking. Thanks Neil

@@chasetherainbow thankyou for getting back to me, I will have to experiment with a few things.i think my tires came at 25 psi so perhaps I can let some out they are 2.4 wtb ranger 29s.i ride a mixture of road trail and gravel.i do really like the bike just found the vibration a lot so will look into carbon seat post and bars.i did look at forks with suspension but I want to keep it rigid if I can .cheers👍

Thank you for the info. I would appreciate if you gave us more videos like this with your experience, as this is not a mainstream brand. I am looking forward to get one, and I live too far away from the UK. The rear bolts missing for the panniers also disappointed me. How did you solve it? Thank you
@chasetherainbow
@chasetherainbow 4 жыл бұрын
Hi Nano. Thanks for the comment. Sorry for the slow reply,I didn't get a notification. For a rear pannier you can actually get a seat post clamp that has additional bolts holes to secure a rack. When I get one I will do a little review and fitting guide. The Sonder bikes are excellent, I also have a Signal Ti and have ridden a couple of the other models too. I hope that helps you. Thanks.Neil

Hello, I'm about to buy this frame. I would like to put 2.6 tires but I worry about clearance for mud.
@chasetherainbow
@chasetherainbow 3 жыл бұрын
Hi, thanks for commenting. It depends which wheel size you intend to fit. I have 29” wheels fitted with Maxxis Ikon 2.4” tyres. There is lots of clearance on seat stays - I can get my fingers in easily all the way round. Sonder recommend 2.5” tyres but I’d say that will be able to fit 2.6” without any problems. Cheers Neil

Im doing a very long bikepacking trip for 6 months on small trails/mountain trails as well as dirt road in Sweden. I want the bike to be as light as possible without dropping 14k on a frame. But I did find a carbon frame planet X that is 800g lighter then the Fronteir but it has a max tyre clearance of 2.35 (2.4). I wanted to go with 2.35 Maxxis Ikon tires anyway, allthough im not 100% set on the wheel size. Should I get the carbon frame with 2.35 Maxxis Ikon tires and possible sell the frame after the trip and get something like a Frontier after the trip, if I ever want to go for 2.6 tires in the future?

Thanks for commenting 👍 I wouldn’t worry too much about an 800gms weight saving,, the aluminium bike will be much better for a long adventure than a carbon one, in my experience. Carrying varying amounts of food and water everyday will negate that anyway. Have you considered the Sonder Broken Road? You’ll get the best of both with titanium - tough and lite (and super comfortable). The Ikon 2.35 is a great choice of tyre, it’s my favourite for bikepacking, gravel, and even with a bit of road mixed in. It sounds like you have a great trip planned, I’m envious 😊 A tour of the Scandinavian countries is high on my list. Enjoy the journey.

@@chasetherainbow I have tought about different carbon/titanium frames but I would only consider it for the price/weight is good enough. So far 13k-14k frames are out of my league. 800g is something like 1.2% difference saved time over 100km. I will be carrying the bike over streams and on some remote trails so that is really my only concern., that it will be a bit to heavy.

Aydin Productions Ltd. That’s a bit of a bummer. I know a lot of stuff has been delayed in supply chains because of Covid. Have you contacted them recently? The ride is excellent, really comfortable. I’ve done a couple of 100km plus days and it’s been faultless to be honest.
