Fourth generation South Asian whose ancestors came to Caribbean and I am of mixed Christian / Hindu background - Visited Karnataka on business trip and was so impressed with India that I am planning to come for a month to see South India - Kerala, Ooty, Tamil, Telegana and some of northeast too. Indian coworkers gave me gifts and took me around shopping...never happened before...the kindness and hospitality.

To all my Indian and Pakistani Brothers and Sisters, One thing I must say, during my December 2022 visit to Lahore, Gujrawala, Faisalabad and Peshawar, I was respected there by local Pakistani public the same way as Abrar Bhai in India. I made a lot of great friends there whom I still keep in touch with. My interviews with Muzammil, Anam, Mehwish and Nimra went viral in India and Pakistan. I was literally the Chief Guest there, I was so humbled by the courtesy, love and respect by Pakistani people. I'm born and raised in Old Delhi, so Lahore was no different for me. Having said that, people are much the same on both sides of the border, but I ensured they get rid of the perceptions that Pakistanis had for Indian people in general. I stayed at Faletti Hotel, Egerton Road Lahore and I received an overwhelming reception from Pakistanis there. For me it was a historic tour and every minute I spent in Pakistan, I'll cherish that for the rest of my life. If things get better in Pakistan I'll be back there this time to KHI via Lahore via Attari-Wagah border again, hopefully this December. Abrar Bhai, once you're in Delhi (Dehli, as it's known in Pakistan) you'll cherish the food of KHI there for sure. Those are artificially constructed ( man made) stone structures called groynes. They are placed to protect the coastal shoreline from erosion. Between those groynes /artificial islands slowly additional beach forms due to wave action in the shape of small bays and become a stable shore line. I have been staying in Bangalore for the past 15 years and have been visiting Western Ghats and Konkan belt almost every year. So, these places are just like my home. The island which you are referring to is St Mary's Island where Vasco Da Gama first landed on his journey to India. Another thing was about Maravanthe where the National Highway 66 runs just besides the Arabian Sea. If you notice there is also a river on the other side, next to that river is a village called Padukone which is Prakash & Deepika Padukone 's ancestral village.

Karnataka is an underrated beautiful state with such natural and cultural diversity within... rarely heard any traveller mention Bhatkal Biriyani ..and really warm people all around Glad you could cover this lush green seaside stretch than opting for a more convenient Bangalore-Pune-Mumbai highway which is otherwise bland.

Bhatkal biryani is made famous by Kwality hotel at Bhatkal. In this biryani, rice, the gravy and the meat are cooked separately and tossed together in layers and not cooked together in Dum except on special days. The flavor of this biryani is dominated by the brown onions. Unlike other biryanis curry leaf is used. Navayathi is the name of the Muslim community that lives in and around Bhatkal. These are the descendants of traders from both Persia (Iran) and Arab peninsula who bred horses that they supplied to the Vijaynagar kingdom. The Navayathi language is an amalgam of Konkani, Arabic and Pharsi and they Navayathi community have their own distinctive tradition and customs and distinctive cuisine.
