NASA is taking a giant leap towards sending Manned missions to Mars.
Straight from NASA's Washington, D.C., headquarters, a brand-new office is born: The Moon to Mars Program Office!
This exciting new department is the meeting point for everything Artemis Moon mission, from high-tech spacesuits to the Orion spacecraft and the powerful SLS rocket!
Thanks to the 2022 NASA Authorization Act, this office has a clear mission: Make every lunar journey a stepping stone to Mars.
With astronauts set to take a lunar flyby in late 2024, and human boots hitting lunar soil in 2025, the countdown to the future has begun!
But that's not all! Future missions will have our astronauts building a home away from home at the moon's South Pole!"
Get ready to see them 'living off the land,' conducting experiments, and prepping for Mars, with new challenges and tests along the way."
While this trailblazing office is still setting up shop, changes are already underway.
So, buckle up, space fans! The journey to Mars starts at the moon, and it's going to be an incredible ride!

I'm so excited about returning to the Moon, especially considering it's been decades since we've last stepped foot on it. Honestly, I think it'll be damn-near as big of a deal for humanity as when we first went, especially for space-nuts like myself.

I hope it is as big. The first moon landing was political. Lets hope that these missions stay out of politics, and in science.

The moon missions should be where NASA embraces AI robots. They can work 24/7 on the surface, require no human resources, except power. Base personnel direct the AI VR robots to do tasks, expanding the base, move equipment preparing for the astronauts to reemerge for their daily but time limited surface activities. AI VR larger drone vehicles can be added later, that move, carry, lift heavy objects. They are required to automatically scan their work path and avoid personnel and other robots. The large AI drones can be driven in-situ by astronauts or by base staff remotely.

@djohannsson8268 Жыл бұрын
Once on Mars the robots presetup the base or at minimum unload and move modules and equipment to the work site where the arriving astronauts complete the placement and connect all critical interfaces. All this could be preplanned and preprogrammed on earth at a mockup site

I 100% agree with you that would be a stepping stone for humanity to go to mars if it works there then there’s no reason why it wouldn’t work on mars. But just a thought maybe if they have a kill switch placed in the Ai in case something goes wrong so they can be quickly terminated 🤖🤠👋😘

This is weird space force should be employed. They need to be digging tunnels so we can have a whole NASA facility up there, so if we’re going to launch vehicles, to the other planets we launch from the moon instead of from earth, that’s too difficult, you need all the fuel to get out of the gravity. Our NASA space program should be starting from the moon and also we could have an asteroid intervention program up there that is what space force could be used for.
