FIRST PARAMOTOR FLIGHT W/NO TRAINING OR PRIOR KITING (yes I'm an idiot, but I have big balls)

I did a lot of research and watched many, many videos to figure out how to do this; from figuring out what paramotor and wing to buy, to learning what to do to launch, land, etc. As you'll see, I need work on controling the torque roll when throttling on/off, but I wasn't even thinking about that this time. I was too busy asking myself what I just got myself into and how I was going to get back down alive. Now I know what to expect and will adjust accordingly.
I was flying my Air Conception Nitro 200 paramotor and Niviuk Qubik wing.

Hey, when I learned how to Hang Glide in the early 70's there was nobody within 1000 miles who had ever even seen a Hang Glider. We had to learn on our own and read a lot of books! Had some hard landings but still here to tell the tale! Gotta do your thing.

Hey, if you want to self-train, that's entirely your decision. I know someone who self-trained and he's an excellent pilot - but he definitely had other pilots around him that he took lots of advice and instruction from. So, in reality, he didn't really self-train, but he never went through an official course either... At any rate - once you're in the air - you need to fly by the rules, otherwise you risk putting the entire sport in jeopardy (flying directly over houses is a no-no). Get altitude and build familiarity with the wing and motor. Don't overdo anything - pull gentle brakes at first. Make gentle throttle corrections. For landing, make sure you're into the wind (get yourself a nice extendable pole with a long streamer), kill the motor at 80ft or so, go hands up and let that wing build speed. Speed is what gives you flare authority. Be looking out to the horizon (and slightly down) - gently add pressure - just enough to feel the wing - and at 3-4 feet above the ground, start adding more brake pressure to round out your descent. You should be flying just above and parallel to the ground; keep progressively adding brakes all the way down to your butt and walk it out. The idea of making a good landing, is "practicing NOT landing"; the longer you can hold yourself off the ground as you come in, the softer and gentler the landing. Good luck to you - and fly responsibly and safely!

I don't see an issue with not having any formal training as even the Wright Brothers had no training before their first glider flight. I WOULD suggest anyone who cannot get official training on a paramotor, to at least get some flight practice in a flight simulator on realistic settings. The one thing that really scared me here is his really delayed climb above the trees because... your ability to climb is much slower than you really think it is. But overall, great first flight and welcome to the world of aviation!

That's crazy I also have a 107 license and there are just too many regulations and as a pilot, I feel safer flying an airplane than a drone they made it almost impossible for you to almost fly it legally, and this paramotor flys higher and go faster than most drones. I mean I'm all for it though I would love to get one of those and finally be able to fly free as a bird .

That LZ is a great spot to take off and land, just because you were flying sketchy the whole time doesnt mean you need to find another. Get some altitude on your first flight and feel out the trottle and wing controls. The whole flight you were skimming terrain at low altitude for literally no reason and your awful throttle control caused you too swoop down lower than you expected on many occasions. Also flying that low to peoples houses is a guarenteed way to ruin that LZ for you and everyone else
