I knew nothing about diving before stumbling on this channel really, but learning about these people's amazing accomplishments and unfortunate tragedies is fascinating. You guys have done a great job in educating your audience to the nuances, guidelines and rules involved. Also you do a good job of breaking down what's happening and how/why it might have potentially happened from an experienced divers perspective in both the success's and failures that you've covered.

This episode hits close for me. Being a woman in construction I can relate SO much to some of the experiences Jill has had. The number of times the men around me assume I'm an Admin and ask for reports but then are surprised to find out I'm actually a Detailer (Drafter) gets kind of old. I'm the only female detailer at my branch and the only girl on most projects and in meetings too. Thank you both for showcasing such a badass inspirational woman! I know your question "why does she feel she has to talk about being a "woman" in cave diving?" was genuine and it's tough to explain to men how ostracizing it feels in industries that are predominately male lead (STEM for one). Fighting for fair treatment is just part of the reality when you are the only woman around, and that sometimes means you can't make mistakes and have to be hyper aware of how your attitudes are being interpreted, or else you may get pushed aside. This is why the gender discussion is so important and by Jil saying how she feels in a male dominated industry in a very public interview, she is able to contribute to better equality.

You know as an instructor I can honestly say over the years, divers really do have the most fun and are the "happiest". Every single dive, when done properly, is an experience and privilege most people are completely oblivious to and that makes it both rewarding but also humbling and seeing how this lady acts with all her accolades you can tell just by looking in her eyes she doesn't take the stance of im better than you. That's truly what this world needs is being humble to those less skilled but not limiting them to be below you but pushing them to be past you. Need more people like you and for the female demographics, I hope you find the platform to do so. I love teaching everyone dont get me wrong but I take more pride when teaching women and daughters as I know and have seen other schools steering away just because the gender. Gender means nothing.. skills, drive, determination and being humble is everything, want a example.. here is the perfect one. Loved the interview and I was just as much in awe haha gus you got me too with the reveal =) great jobs guys all the best !

My mom lived of the east coast of Newfoundland as a child and she had stories about going caving in icebergs. I didn't believe her but, some guy's I worked with from the area did the same, but, they wouldn't go in far, mom called them pussies. Hats off to those that do these incredible things and, keep safe out there. Cheers from Canada.

Jill is amazing, the questions were great, this video is so inspiring and fun and just educational about how AMAZING and exciting diving really is. But I have to tell you, the best part for me as a woman was listening to a whole interview were SHE WAS NOT ONCE INTERRUPTED. I mean... It felt so good watching and learning from a woman of her knowledge while she WAS BEING RESPECTED ON CAMERA (I know it should be the minimum, but for many channels and journalists it just seems impossible to do...haha) 👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿 Your guys' channel just keeps getting better and better.

You do realize that women interrupt all the time. Who is disrespecting professional cave divers on camera? they aren't talking to her because she is a female they are talking to her because she is a famous cave diver. Being a female/male doesn't help or hinder you underwater so why would it be impressive at all that she is a woman? Its not Men's Cave diving. Its just cave diving. People probably interrupt you because they roll their eyes when you start all your 3rd wave feminism mansplaining bullshit.

This was one of my favorite videos of yours (btw I love all of your videos and have learned so much from them that I can apply to my own diving scenarios). I love the way Jill talks about the water and the industry. I am also writing a paper on gender and video games, and I think what she says is PERFECT for me to use, and current! Thank you for sharing!!!! What a gem!
