Most of us haven't played with physical cards in a formal event in at least a year, so I figured a video on how to properly set-up (When to flip a coin, laying out prizes, drawing opening hand, etc) would be helpful

@@crios4454 well there hasn't been anything big close to us (southern california) other than SLC I guess. He's been enjoying prereleases and league and doing well but wants to play at the San Diego regional. That would be a big test for him, he's 9 so I'm a little nervous that the grind of all day higher-level pokemon could be tough. Exciting too though!

I have the habit of spreading out my prizes because my main deck was green's blacephalon and it's useful to have them spread out if you use Blazer :P

@@MellowMagikarp it was while it wasn't a well-known deck yet so the comments/looks from bystanders and judges at regionals were hilarious too when some of my prizes were flipped up and some were flipped down xD oh and it's extremely fun to use Blazer on stream with prize cam because the stream can't see your prize anymore xP

Do you not take the mulligan draw before you do the prizes?
@MellowMagikarp
@MellowMagikarp 3 жыл бұрын
Nope! You put out your prizes than take any extra cards from your opponent's mulligans once they have a basic

You can do 6 in a row, it's just a bit awkward with how much space it takes up

Hey there! I just learned how to play at NAIC this year and someone said fanning out to draw was technically not allowed. Is that true or is it just risky? This came up because a player mis-drew when his Japanese sleeves stuck together and lost 2 prizes because of it.
@MellowMagikarp
@MellowMagikarp Жыл бұрын
It's technically just risky. I've had local judges tell us not to do it but it's not like they can force it With that said, I'd also highly recommend not doing it that way 😂
@JoshuaHipsher
@JoshuaHipsher Жыл бұрын
@@MellowMagikarp noted! It's a little harder when you have two judges who are sitting there on stage, watching you play. lol. Is that kinda something you don't really call on people? Like, if they mis-deal during a local tournament is there an unspoken thing where you just let them put it on the bottom or do folks take 2 prizes at smaller events too?
@MellowMagikarp
@MellowMagikarp Жыл бұрын
@@JoshuaHipsher Depends on the person. With Championship Points on the line some people will call a judge on you at smaller events still, but most won't. If a judge sees they have to enforce the 2 prize penalty though, regardless of what players want

@@MellowMagikarp I went to my first league tourney yesterday and it came up where someone put the 5 cards from Colress's Experiment into their hand but I said something before they mixed them in. I still won the match but the judge almost called him on it in the moment!
