To each their own for sure but just so your friends hear another opinion, Mamamoo is the best vocal group, too. I don't think anyone does better harmonies including Red Velvet. And I'm not even a MooMoo. I just have never heard a foursome whose voices go so well together and blend perfectly despite how unique they each are. And they have the musical knowledge--like they're singer singers--to do the harmonies on their own. Like their harmonies are so strong, their group introduction is them harmonizing! Again, everyone is entitled to their own opinion but you rattled your preference off like fact and I had to let you friends know that a much more prevalent take is that Mamamoo is the best group of vocal soloists AND the best vocal GROUP. haha

If you want to talk about an underrated girl group, it's Mamamoo. They are incredible vocalists that can hold their own, but are absolutely incredible together. You should listen to their Killing Voice which gives you snippets of some of their most popular songs. I don't think the guy has listened to enough of Mamamoo for him to say they don't harmonize, because they harmonize a lot.

He does have a point in that their newer music doesn’t have much 4-part harmonies - just little moments here and there, whereas RV has harmonies more consistently. But of course that’s to be expected from SM. That said…MAMAMOO certainly can, has, and does do harmonies. Hell, their greeting is an a cappella 4-part harmony. 😎

Mamamoo is the best vocal group because they are individually amazing and also great together, they do a lot of harmonies, and perhaps you haven't heard other songs that showcase this, the best thing about Mamamoo is their live performances, you can check out any of them, and they're totally worth it, I recommend My Star and ILLELLA Band LIVE Concert (the Killing Voice is the best to get a little bit of each song) If you just want to hear their vocals (compilations) there are many videos like that: mamamoo the true vocal queens, MAMAMOO Best Vocal Moments (According to Fans), Mamamoo Vocals Never Fails to Amaze me, Mamamoo Flexing Their Vocals, Compilation of Mamamoo randomly harmonizing with each other...

I don’t know if he just doesn’t know more than 2-3 Songs or if he is biased without knowing. He really just said Mamamoo doesn’t harmonise enough 😂? I mean, if they had to harmonise even more, they would turn into a choir … I love how he even wants to convince his friends, who are visibly sceptical, that Mamamoo doesn’t harmonise that much 😂😂😂 But all jokes aside, his way of speaking and comparing them to another group, he clearly likes more and knows more about, feels unfair. Of cause, he can like any group he wants, but… I don’t know, if I’m a bit sensitive as a Moomoo, but his wording, sounds like he is downplaying their biggest achievement and that he believes they don’t deserve the title Vocal Queens, even though he barely knows any songs. He apparently knows, that they were given this title by the public and more importantly their colleagues, so shouldn’t he check out more of their music first before he disregards their title … I know, he probably didn’t mean to, but this left a bitter aftertaste

2nd gen is the best gen followed by 3rd gen. Mamamoo are the undisputed vocal queens of kpop. Rightly acknowledged as such by fans, long established musicians, music critics and experts and the general public. Even kpop fans that don't stan Mamamoo and rarely agree on anything agree unanimously that Mamamoo are the best kpop vocal girl group. Listen to I Miss You or Paint Me, their Immortal Songs 2 medley for pure vocals or even better any of their 14 performances on the competition singing show Immortal Songs 2 and be amazed by Mamamoo. Mamamoo definitely harmonize, even their introduction greeting is pure harmonization. Red Velvet don't harmonize, their vocals are layered so it appears they harmonize well. Wendy, however, is the best female vocalist in kpop imo and that's coming from a hardcore Moomoo (Mamamoo fandom). There's a reason why Solar, Wheein and Hwasa are always in the top 5 of many best female kpop vocalists lists.

Where Are We Now is actually a reflection on their 7 year journey together rather than a song for their fans and of course on another level it can also be read as a song about a romantic relationship. Unlike many kpop groups MMM's musical style isn't tailored to a specific group concept and as a result they've been free to explore many genres and have one of the most diverse discographies you'll ever hear including hip hop, pop, r&b, jazz, latin pop, bossa nova, reggaeton, rock, blues, disco, EDM, ballads and more. Leader Solar even did a country song for a kdrama OST. Each member has a successful solo career as well. Mamamoo was the first group to have all members chart on Billboard as solo artists while the group was still active as a unit. As any moomoo (MMM fan) will tell you, Mamamoo is best when they're live because of their world-class, always live vocals, charismatic stage presence and bff sisterhood bond. Two excellent live sampler packages are the 15 minute medley they did for Dingo's Killing Voice series and the Immortal Songs Medley, which was filmed at a MMM concert in 2017. In their early career they harmonized all the time it was their thing to prove themselves you can see it in their early music but also in performances back in immortal songs it helped them gain respect outside the kpop industry. They do the back and forth lately probably because they have become so well known individually and have distinct sounds that they just highlight their individuality

Hwasa is really an idol....! She has all the package and she is years ahead from all kpop! She was currying on her back not only her group... she is one of the most popular kpop singers around the world! Do reactions to her solo songs and you will understand what I am talking about! You managed to find the ONE song (out of dozens) where they don't do a lot of harmonizing. But this was a reflection on their career, just before contracts ended, which would complicate the logistics of the group performing together, but not ending the group. This is new territory, previously, when contracts expired the group members vanish and are never seen performing again, because Korean agencies are very jealous and ruthless and don't play well together. Mamamoo to me signals (along with debut yearmates Red Velvet) the very beginning of 3rd Gen in 2014. They brought about a sea change, altered the whole game. Other people have other definitions. MY feeling (not shared with the general fandom) is that 3rd gen ended somewhere around 2020-21 (during C19 lockdowns) and that we're maybe only halfway through 4th Gen, WAAAAAAAY to soon to be saying 5th Gen is in effect. Not that is matters to me, most 4th (or later) gen artists are nugu to me, I'm rooted in late2nd/early 3rd. Thing is, on issues like this in kpop fandom, there is no one authority, there is only consensus, SO I just have to keep pushing back and hoping other folks agree with me. Or, eventually, I'll get drowned out.
