There is a A LOT of jokes in this that are very local to Sweden, but even more, to the rivality between Stockholm and Göteborg. I'm sure A LOT went over your head.

It's really hard to understand the humor in this episode of Grotesco when you don't know the huge rivality between Stockholm and Gothenburg. You nailed it a little bit in the end. Stockholm makes alot of fun with Gothenburg because of our (I'm from Gothenburg) dialect, humor and culture. Gothenburg makes fun of Stockholm for their obnoxius ways of just being and for the stressful city it is. Gothenburg is the old bigger city in Sweden that really love their culture and proud of how friendly the people are. Gothenburg is famous for fish and the harbor that connect Sweden with the world with imports/exports. We also love the dialect and our beers. keep reacting to our jewels :)

Ahem... Gothenburg was founded by the Dutch. It was originally a village of Dutch settlers. Gothenburg is too friendly to be truly Swedish.

A great comic in Sweden was Gothenburgh-man. Kal El, the son of Ada and Osborn was sent to the planet Stockholm. There he was found and raised by the pop band Kent. During his puberty he found his Gothenburg powers, which are mostly humour based

I can’t imagine watching this without any sort of connection to Swedish culture. I’ve been living here for a decade and been visiting here since I was a child and I still don’t get everything, literally every scene makes fun of very specific Swedish ideoms, traditions, dialects and regional stereotypes.

This one contained far too many inside jokes that non-Swedes cannot understand. It was sometimes difficult to keep up as a Swede, and I guess that all Swedes also missed something. Easiest to understand, however, should have been the stingy guy. He did not speak in riddles at all, but said exactly what he meant. The funny thing was that normal people don't say things like that. First it was a girl in the office who was having a birthday and had ordered a cake for the next day (it's a Swedish thing,smörgåstårta, which isn't actually a cake but rather a sandwich on steroids that looks like a cake. No cake in it. The translations was wrong. It's bread inside, not cake) . The guy wouldn't be in the office the next day and didn't think it was fair that he wouldn't get his piece of the "cake", so he basically forced her to buy him one today. Later at the funeral, he talked to a guy about being invited to a barbecue at his place. The stingy guy couldn't come to the party, but he still wanted the beer he would have drunk if he had come. At the end, when the Globe smashed all of Stockholm (because that's what happens when Gothenburgers are let loose there) he wanted the money back for the hockey tickets he said he had bought (the Globe is an arena in Stockholm).

Max was 90% wrong in what he talked about when watching this :P I think if you had just watched it with less talking or fooling around from Max (Scaring or tickling) I think it would be easier to get it. This ep of Grotesco was alot about social awkward people/situations. Its a type of dry and sometimes gloomy satire that is reminiscent of British humour.

It's making fun of very specific topics in Sweden, which is pretty hard to get, I guess. Perhaps you will have more enjoyment of "The trial", episode 6 of this season, that makes fun of American movies, specifically "Runaway Jury" by John Grisham.

There's so much more than translating to English needed to make sense of most of the jokes in that video. It's a Swedish show for a Swedish audience, so they assume everyone is familiar with all the references. If you didn't live here for at least a couple of years I completely understand why you didn't get most of the jokes.

Grotesco has done a lot of different good comedy. But this must be some of their worst and I think it could be hard to follow along if you do not fully understand the background to some of the jokes. Other examples of Grotesco is: "Blame the gay people": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/oNOcm7ifnbrahGQ.htmlsi=kMdfds_3T3P39MR_ "Tingeliin song" kzfaq.info/get/bejne/m5efraaI3rvQc5s.htmlsi=BcqHrrWtHlcxgEte

At first.. Im frome Gothenburg my self, and its Stockholm/Grotesco version/take on Gothenburg humor and traditions! On top of that, they mixed in typical US sceneries, kinda those we see on film! The od guy, inbetween asking for favours.. its the one swedes dont like to be, he is totaly out of context.. its just this, its our feeelings put in a od mans mind! Makerel is a pelagish fish.. it means Atlantic, big thing in Gothenburg, close to Atlantic, in Stockholm they dont know about it.. soo close to makerel, closer to Gothenburg, in this sketch! I think it was an expensive production.. and it come out right!. One probaly probably need to be a swede to understand all the jokes.. or even from Gothenburg.. (littel London) for some historical reasons!

@@kingvii7250 I'm not assuming. It's a fact that you did not watch the video. Do you know how I know? Because of your comment, which can only be written if you haven't listen. I've expressed multiple time during the videos, but mostly after, how this was a satire expressing how Gothenburg and Stockholm probably viewed each other. You also failed to recognize that we obv know (from our commenting) that this is a satire video. Or, it could be that you do not understand our accent. In either way, you are incorrect, and a few of you only have commented similar non sense. Most people understood that we knew about the video purpose.

In brief, I can't cure stupidity. And sorry to be harsh, but expressing that we are mocking Swedes is basically telling us that we are too stupid to understand what we were watching. Ofc we didn't get the banter, but the overall satirical of the video is easy to understand, and frankly insulting that you think that 2 grown adult didn't understand that the characters were portrayed as satire.
