Right - it was Jimmy's double pull-offs ascending the neck (as in the "Heartbreaker" solo featured here) that Eddie expounded upon to develop the right-hand tapping technique. However beyond that, Eddie never had any respect for Jimmy's playing because Jimmy was never committed to being technically accurate. Translation: He was always sloppy.
@CensoredByYouTube.
@CensoredByYouTube. 3 жыл бұрын
@@DDEENY I have to side with Eddie. After years of playing guitar and watching others far more skilled with it, it got to the point where the flaws/sloppiness in a lot of Jimmy's playing became obvious. I now see Jimmy's true genius not in his technical prowess with the fretboard, but with arranging, production and engineering, and cultivating _the sound_ of Led Zeppelin, to which his "rough edges" added much character.

It was NOT Jimmy on the backing vocals, unless I’m very much mistaken. It was Bonham. He had a great voice. Plant, who was best mates with Bonzo, has commented that there were many fine singers inBonham’s family. When Zep did their O2 Celebration Day concert in 2007, Bonhams son, Jason, played the drums and did the backup vocals, following in his father’s footsteps...doubly!

Love your channel. Led Zeppelin and The Beatles were two groups that were in a league of their own. Two perfect bands. Knowing that you love Zep as much as I do, I saw them 4 times in my lifetime, you HAVE TO REACT to Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, from the first album. One of their best all time songs. And when you get around to it, Give a listen to Ramble On from the second album and Kashmir. You will never be disappointed listening to any Led Zeppelin songs, but give those a try as soon as you can, you won't regret it. Keep up the great reactions. I love watching people react and fall in love with their extraordinary talent, presence and uniqueness. Definitely one of the most influential bands all time.

LLM was about an older groupie that would try to follow Jimmy around NY. Both Jimmy and Robert considered the song a throwaway piece and never liked it. Jimmy was angry to hear how US radio stations would play the songs together because he felt they had nothing in common.

It's interesting how when someone starts getting into Led Zep, they are initially in most cases (myself included...33 years) drawn in by the masterful guitar playing and sound of Jimmy and the incredible, distinctive vocals of Robert. Emmanuel I can guarantee as you start getting deeper into this journey, more and more you will start appreciating and taking notice of the exceptional talents of the two Johns. Their rhythm section helped define the sound as much as Page and Plant in that there is no drummer quite like Bonham in rock history and Jones is like the backbone of the group with his allround versatility and incredible musicianship.

You will usually hear a guitar solo...it was the time of guitar solos, and great guitar players were idols back then. The fans went to concerts to hear those extended solos.....and to see Plant of course.😁 But Jimmy started the band, and had pretty much already laid out the songs for the first two albums. It wasn’t until the third album that Robert really started collaborating with Jimmy and they became such a stellar songwriting duo for almost a decade.
@Darnaguen

Side note: they continued being a stellar songwriting duo in the '90s, their 'Walking Into Clarksdale' album especially is waaaay underrated.
@helenespaulding9372
@helenespaulding9372 4 жыл бұрын
Darnaguen agreed. It is a shame that that partnership didn’t continue, but perhaps they both felt it had run its course, and Plant went on to do his deep dive into Americana and Mountain music with Allison Kraus and Patty Griffin.....ever seeking out the new to keep himself musically sharp and stimulated. Love his work with Strange Sensation/ Sensational Shape Shifters.

Most fans aren't aware that in spite of the decades of faithful airplay received by this medley, it not only was never intended as a medley but "Living, Loving Maid (She's Just A Woman)" was to a man Zeppelin's least favorite number for the fact that they considered it too poppy for their taste. This song was never touched or mentioned by the band ever again, not even a single instance in concert or even soundchecks, and it was conspicuously excluded from the first LZ Box Set collection and "Heartbreaker" was presented without it.

while the merging of the two songs is most likely a happy accident , it always came off to me that Living Loving Maid was a sequel to Heartbreaker even tho it is really not. so glad you listened to the two songs together as that was always my experience when I was a young girl back in the early 80's .It is funny that you mention the idea that heartbreaker is the better song. isn't the first always better than the sequel [most of the time anyway].

A lot of Led Zeppelin songs are about a man being hard done to by a woman, which is not true of their own lives I feel as the power was on their side in real life. However it's very appealing to seem vulnerable and I think they knew that, but they were also just following the themes of some old blues songs.

I love the songs. I could have done without the trite, banal commentary. This thing autoplayed after the standard HB/LLM while I was under the sink fixing a problem, and when I finally got out, I was amazed at the 259-6 +ratio, and that 259 other people hung on till the end of this if they weren't trapped doing plumbing. He seems like a nice guy, and I only downvote for malice, not style or vacuity, but if he did this at the parties I go to, he would be mocked.
