This song is just beautiful. Sharon just has that tone that gets to me. Within Temptation has many styles but you can consider them symphonic metal. Like Nightwish their songs are diverse. If you want to hear a rockier song that’s catchy then check out the MV for Shot In The Dark or Faster.... The MV for the song Angels is also a must see. These Dutch singers just keep on destroying us. Lol

Someone else already responded saying they're metal. But if you want to hear where they came from, how "metal" they started listen to their first album Enter. As someone who went to their very first concert, when they were still dependent on Orphanage to get people to come to them, that album really has a special place in my heart. Though this one is going to be played on my funeral. Knew it from the moment I was at this concert. EPIC!

Long ago in Florida......you found Within Temptation then Nightwish...or the other way around. Or maybe Epica . They all got some, but not enough radio airplay.

Within Temptation have a large variety of styles with each song, so you will never find really one song that depicts the band, though they were traditionally symphonic for the earlier years. You should definitely check out Paradise (What About Us?) featuring Tarja - original female singer of Nightwish, or anything from Black Symphony concert like Our Solemn Hour which has Winston Churchill's speech at the beginning of WW2, or another collaboration out of the blue - And We Run (Featuring the rapper Xzibit)

My favourite duet by Anneke is with Paskal Jacobsen from Blof with the song Porselein, it is a Dutch song but I think that every music lover will like this. If you will do some harmonies, then I recommend you to do some Og3ne with Bohemian rhapsody or Sing.

I really enjoy you exploring the genres within metal and stumbling upon Anneke, Sharon, Floor, Simone, Marcella, Irene etc etc etc. If you want to hear some very stunning male singers, please listen to Take hold of the flame by Queensryche (singer Geoff Tate), maybe some music by Crimson Glory (singer Midnight) or even some King Diamond.......... And if you want to hear one of the first real metal songs, listen to Painkiller by Judas Priest. Interested in some darker versions of Nightwish? Listen to Dimmu Borgir (Gateways or Mourning Palace, including ful choir and orchestra). You have just started with your journey, you Padawan.

Interesting thing is, that Within Temptation and Nightwish started out in the same year 1996 and have both gone and become mega successful bands. Another fun fact is that Sharon in a self taught singer, no formal training. All learned on her own with her pure talent.

Love Within Temptation. Discovered them through watching the Isle of Man TT which uses their song' Faster' :) Maybe check out their song 'Paradise' which features Tarja.

To get a feel for Within Temptation I recommend reacting to "The promise" live at Rock Werchter (2002). Alot of people recommend this song from the Black symphony concert but I think seeing this older performance gives a better glimpse at Sharons raw talent and a look at the bands earlier years. The second performance I recommend is "Deceiver of fools" live from the Silent force concert. Both performances will give you the hearth of what Within Temptation is.

They started out as Gothic Symphonic Metal , then progressed later to Symphonic Rock, then Pop Rock Some don't like where they went. It still is top notch. A must listen is from same concert "Black Symphony", "The Promise" very dramatic and Good SHOW.

Ok so this is going to be a long thread. For starters do yourself a favor and listen to Timo Tolkki's Avalon, "Shine" ft. Elize & Sharon. I don't think there is a live video or music video of it so it might not make a good reaction as you will just be looking at the album cover but do your ears a favor and check it out. Speaking of Avalo I think Tolkki is very underappreciated. If you like Shine, "I'll Sing You Home" ft. Elize & "Are you The One" ft Sharon are great as well. Also "Design the Century" ft. Floor - There is a good video of this one for sure. Speaking of Floor if you want to hear her and Sharon together check out After Forever's "Beyond Me". As for Within Temptation it is another deep well like Nightwish so buckle up. WT sound changes over time, Sharon really hates being pigeonholed. I would start with some classic symphonic metal WT "Angels", "Ice Queen", or "Mother Earth". Then maybe some less symphonic and more hard rock "Faster", or "Shot in the Dark". Moving to the current more traditionalish metal sound "The Purge" (You might actually hear this one on the radio in the U.S.) Also WT is not shy about doing collabs. especially on the Hydra Album. Paradise (What about Us) ft. Tarja, "Dangerous" ft. Howard Jones, "The Whole World is Watching" Dave or Piotr (both versions are good), "And We Run" ft. Xzibit. are all great.
