First Ride On A Honda Grom! Should I FINALLY Buy One?!

I’ve been talking about buying a Honda Grom for what seems like forever, but I’m one of the few people who’ve never even ridden one...until now!
Recently I started getting more serious in my hunt for the beloved Honda Grom, and as fate would have it, last night I found what could be the PERFECT one only minutes from my house!
The only thing is, it’s an OG Grom and I had my heart set on an SF Grom...but could this one be worth it enough that I make an exception and buy the FIRST Grom I’ve ever been on?

Groms are soo damn fun. I looooove mine. Love my Rebel 1100, and my CB50r, but the grom is sooooo fun. Hopefully adding the 2022 grom to the garage this year as well.

Dude I think that’s a great deal with how clean it is and the low miles. All the Used groms in my area were stunted or overpriced. Hope you picked it up!

Agreed man! This is by far the cleanest and cheapest Grom I’ve seen in my area any time recently. Everyone always dogs them and then lists them over MSRP 😂

Every motorcyclist needs a Grom. If you can’t have fun on a Grom you are doing something wrong. They’re really fun for jumping those speed bumps.

Dude I love your videos , I’ve wanted a motorcycle for a long time and then I had a minor fender bender on a moped and was traumatized for a good bit but now I’m thinking I wanna take a motorcycle course and getting a bike, I’m pretty scared and excited about it at the same time lol, I’m sure I’m just being a baby about it being scary.

You won’t regret it trust me! I put a deposit on the 2022 Grom sp and I’m selling my 2018 CBR1000rr SP. I’m tired of the big bike and it’s honestly not fun on the street which is most of the riding that I do. The only fun I had on my CBR was at track days.

@@LifeOfBurch yeah lol. I’m getting the grom and then waiting a year till my car is paid off and then I’m buying either a rebel 1100, Bonneville bobber or a Indian bobber. Im honestly just trying to be more responsible with my riding. A 1000 will make you want to do things that could cost you your life no matter how responsible you are. Thanks for the content bud.

I have a 2015 Grom; that one can see the head bolts are still shiny..., looks like a good price. I have a rack on mine and a Givi, and my back touches it; I have transported almost all my groceries on the Grom, being so light they are perfect for errands. The newest Grom has the extra gear I always wish was there, that will be something you will notice about the older one.

@@LifeOfBurch There is a Kitaco 5 Speed kit for the Grom if you do want one, how is the GRom, is it short gearing? Like if you went for a bigger sprocket front or smaller in back would it help with actually being in a gear for more than like a solid minute? Like if the gearing is tall enough to just be cruising before you NEED 5th for instance

Buy it, bro. I own a 2021 Monkey and Rebel 1100 DCT and, while others have said you'll tire of it, I say the opposite. It's the ultimate toy, and that's how you've got to regard it. Have fun and whip it around and do all the shiz you'd never do on your Rebel. My only cautionary advice is not to ride in traffic. Because it's so small and you're so low, people who don't know better think it's a moped and give you no respect. You just need to be hyper-vigilant about your visibility.

Resale value don't drop much from msrp on them groms. the fact that it has all them upgrades and low miles ... its breaking in period is 500... if you don't buy it I will !

Hey berch. Any advice. I have a 2018 model with 2700 miles on it. No issues works perfect, no noises ticks, white or blue smoke. I went on a 150 mile ride this past weekend. FOT 90 percent of the time. Came home checked oil. Damm oil was low but when I first left was normal. Mind u oil was dirty and about 108 that day. Any advice

I live in the land where they are built. They are called the MSX here. I bought a mint 2015 MSX with 800 miles on it for $800. For another $100, I turned it into a 150cc screamer with some added customized mods. I mothballed my other cycles and the MSX is my daily driver. Everything for a Grom/MSX is so CHEAP here. Oh no on the new models, love the OG model! That bike has ton of mods, it's a steal at that price in your market.

Exactly - true dat! You’re gonna love it. And honestly, I think the one you rode looks better than the refresh. Too may bolts and shiz that make it look over-the-top industrial. Your’s looks slick. Love the contrast of the white body against the black pipe (giggity)

I almost got a Grom instead of my Rebel 500 SE. They’re fun little bikes! However, I’m not fond of the new 2021 style. What do you think of the new look vs the old? Have you seen the sticker kits from Honda for the new one?

I’m not fond of the new style either. I think the 2017-2020 is the best body style of them all. BUT with that said, I like the features of the new Grom and I’m sure the style will grow on me. I’m not a fan of the sticker kits personally just because I like a cleaner look. I had thought about getting the white model that comes with the gold wheels, and swapping the fairings for all black so that it would be black and gold...I still may have to try doing that 🤔

In my country (Cambodia), its price is only around 1000$ brand new(2020/2021). So it's no reason for me to not get it one😹, now mine (2016) is 50000km but its engine still damn good.

With the mods and the price....if you don't buy it someone else will. You can always sell it of you don't like it. Also with the millage it's just out of the break in period. Should be ready to rip 👌

So with all the upgrades, you're basically paying $5 for the bike. In that condition, with those miles (My 6 weeks old Rebel 500 is pushing 2900km...) it would be nuts to pass it up or think you could find a better/cleaner/cheaper one. And buying from someone you know is always a bonus. Honestly, if it's your thing and you can afford it, why not? Looks well loved, why are they getting rid of it?

Is a grom better than a monkey??? I would like to purchase one soon and I am wondering which is better on the highway and offroad? I hear the monkey is better offroad but can the grom still tear it up a bit offroad? And is the monkey really that bad on the highway bc I heard it's a bit worse than the grom. Actually someone said the grom is way better on the highway and can do offroad too. Is this true??

If I had $2850, I'd buy that Grom right this minute! You mentioned more than once about the bike being underpowered but what did you expect it's basically a street legal toy. I would not attempt to take one of these on the highway. And absolutely not on the interstate.

personally id get a new one and do the mods myself. they are about $3500 for new. sure that one has some mods you like but do you love them? are you not going to change anything? Mods are some of the fun of owning a bike.

I had a brand new 2018 Grom and loved it. After a little over a hear I decided I didn't need it though and sold it. Even with those mods the price seems high for a 2015. That depends on your area I guess.

It seems like you like the bike but you’re not full throttle on the speed I wouldn’t pay that much money unless I was 100% happy and perfect with his bike.

I had a little Grom in 2015. I had just sold my V-Star 950 & thought a Grom would be fun to kick around town on. I was wrong. The Grom’s seat itself is a pubic bone destroyer, it’s seating position leans you too far forward, it’s tiny wheels give no stability @ 45 mph & the vibration in the handlebars at that speed is ridiculous.

I suppose you could find a used CR250 for the same price. Maybe a KLR250? The KLX300 seems like a great all around putter. If I was going to spend money on a puttaround I would like to be able to explore more than streets.
