You should ask specialized if they will let you trade for the Kenevo. It has more travel and would more closely match your current rigs.

You gotta get this comparison with more difficult lighting. This was basically perfect lighting, so even the stock GoPro settings looked decent. If you made this video on a sunny day with patchy light within the trees the differences would have been way more apparent. And sorry for your loss.

I agree. I'd like to see how HDR mode would look at Whilser where you transition from the sunny ski runs into the dark trees.

The comp is a pretty basic suspension. I'm installing a cascade link and waiting for my vivid ultimate to show up. I got a 170mm Fox 38 performance elite, wish I would have gotten a zeb.

Get the cascade link - gives u 160mm rear travel and up the fork to 170 and then u will have a proper enduro e-bike.

Blacks, dark areas look really good, on Hero 7 in flat profile, that was something I had to correct, blacks had lots of colours in it and were not black enough, same with the darks. Handlebar always looked wrong. 1:46 60FPS is a must, so that's pointless for me. It has to be 60 or it looks like low fps of course. 2:48 Stock log looked bad of course, but graded Lut it looked good. 6:49 Looked good for the most part, but went too dark, and up and down with the darkness a lot. But a bit of editing and that can be minimised. 7:46 but you mentioned the darkness thing. I'm curious how well the Linear mode works as i hate distortion. I use Go Pro Hero 7 Black with PeauPro87 3.37mm lens, it works in Wide mode, and gives close to the field of view of wide, but no distortion. But I can't use it now, as it's winter, and it can't even handle -1C. And it gets down to -15C sometimes. So 4 Session is my winter camera. But Hero 12 is meant to handle -10C But I see DC Rainmaker tested it in a freezer with -18C and batteries were still charged.

Highly recommend you add 10mm to the fork....just an airshaft swap. The levo is a trail bike and you are riding it on all mountain/ enduro trails.

Just concidering buying a hero 12 to replace my hero 8. When I look at hero 8's horizontal superview FOV it says 122 degrees. When I look at hero 11 and 12 hyperview horizontal FOV, it also says 122 degrees? Is it actually any wider than the older cameras? Or is it just taller and squished? Strangely it seems that hero 11 and 12 superview is slightly narrower than previous models. Possibly to make hyperview look like a better upgrade than it really is?

You can only see the benefits of HDR mode if you're watching on HDR hardware (graphics card, screen etc). A lot of newer stuff is HDR but its not ubiquitous yet, there are still a lot of users on non-HDR hardware. Give it another year or so and it'll be worth using.

While you're not wrong in cases of actual HDR footage (such as HDR10+ etc), GoPro 12 simply uses exposure bracketing and blending to capture more dynamic range in every frame. It's not actually HDR footage, and does not offer any benefits when viewed on HDR displays. It doesn't need specialized hardware.

@@snokefilmlabs So if I'm understanding correctly it processes the data from the CCD at a higher depth of luminosity in order to make a better choice out of 256 shades of grey? (Or 254 if you're being pedantic and don't consider white and black to be shades of grey 🙂) Note: Other color channels are available...

@@sandy_knight No, for every frame the camera will make two exposures (high and low) and blend those exposures into a single video frame. The blending aims to preserve both highlights and shadow detail. It's a neat trick to capture more dynamic range, but provides no additional luminance information required for a true HDR signal.

Maybe it's compression, but apart from the blur(which is weird considering that you are riding in daylight), the footage seems more laggy than what I have seen from previous videos on this channel. I'm an old school cinematographer, and I would be able to shoot on 16mm film with iso200 stock in those lighting conditions without having to go below a 1/48 shutter while shooting at 24 frames per second, so the low shutter error with that GoPro boggles my mind.

What I do know is that 'low shutter' for gopro's with EIS is somewhere around 1/125 or 1/100 because just to make sure the stabilization works well, you need around 1/180 shutter I think? But back when we used gimbals with no EIS, we could have shutter speeds at 1/60 and the motion blur looked kind of nice!
