In this video we take our first steps with the new Hornby HM|DCC system which provides App control of trains via Bluetooth.
We bought a refurbished iPad 6 (2018 model) which meets the minimum spec for the Hornby App, Android support not being available at time of filming. We also purchased a 15V DCC power supply and an 8-pin HM7000 Decoder and associated Speaker for inserting into our ScotRail Inter7City High Speed Train.
Join Allan as he upgrades the locomotive and performs the key steps needed to introduce the new wireless control method to the layout.
Any mistakes are of course down to us, so please comment if we’ve stated anything incorrectly!

Corrections:
16:22 Shunting Mode is used for slow speed operations, i.e. shunting manoeuvres. It sets the running speed to 25%, 50% (default) or 75% of the currently selected speed based on the value of the Shunting Percentage CV setting. This enables a finer granularity of low speeds to be selectable via the speed slider.
