The Sinulog 2023 was still so fun as always. But honestly, it's much different from the past before the pandemic because of the new venue of the parade which is far from the business district. If you only go to Colon and Fuente Osmena streets ( the original venue ), you would experience the gathering of mass of people who still celebrated it in traditional ways where thousands of people became crazy wild, squeezing each other and had paints on their faces like a street party

I love watching your sinulog vlog. it makes me want to go back home next year for sinulog. whoooaaa! nice coverage! if you want to experience a paint party you should've gone to fuente osmena or mango street or baseline (right after the parade or fireworks), then you will be able to experience the paint and street party. Great vid

You certainly knew which contingent to dance with - their costume was red and gold and they were holding white flowers😊. They won both the street dancing and ritual showdown at the gransdstand - the Omega Salonera from Bucas Grande, Surigao del Norte! The old route from downtown Colon to uptown Mango Ave and Fuente Osmeña allowed simultaneous street parties, tattoo and face painting going on all over the place. The SRP is too far from the main city streets and this is the 1st time they're holding the grand parade there. The bad weather conditions in Dec up to Jan 13 caused delays in preparation of the venue hence the mud pit around the grandstand. ....it also contributed to the confusion as to where and what's happening. A lot of improvements can be made - more bleachers for the spectators, drop off area should be nearer as there's no public transport routes in SRP, more free rides for the public to the venue, more public toilets, etc. The major advantage of SRP is the wide space.....but I miss the old VIBE of the street dancing in the narrow city center streets which starts in the morning...hehe. Apparently, the crazy street parties at Baseline near Mango and Fuente area went on late pm until dawn. The scorching heat can really drain you and the disadvantage of SRP is that there are not many trees and buildings around it unlike the old route.....The mayor is saying the next one will still be at the SRP. I hope they do better next year in terms of preparation. Glad to see you guys still enjoyed your 1st Sinulog. Keep on vlogging and stay safe always😷😊🤗

Very few contingent. A number of contestans backed out because the venue was not finished affected by days of rain. There were a lot contestants before covid happen.

How I wish I can join the Sinulog in the future

Guys street parties, after parties at Fuente, Mango ave., Baseline, etc. were much alive just like before, and sadly you missed it. Come and join next year again. Actually it depends on you, Sinulog is a Religious Festival, the locals celebrate it in two ways: on the Religious and Cultural side, and on the Entertainment and Party side, and still many young locals celebrate the Sinulog on both ways. Sinulog is very important to every Cebuano, both its religious and cultural aspects. This is part of their rich heritage and unique culture. The Basilica Minore del Santo Niño Church is always filled with local Cebuano devotees starting from day one of the festival; every hour and every day, all Novena Masses are filled. Sinulog is a whole month of celebration. The Magellan's Cross pavilion is also filled with candles during the festival.

Thanks to Señor Sto. Niño, and also to the Cebu City government and all Sponsors that made Sinulog 2023 very successful. The annual Sinulog Festival is the mother of all festivals, the biggest and grandest festival in the Philippines, it also wouldn't be possible without the financial support of Sponsors such as: gracious private individuals; companies; and corporations, to organize and put up the grandest festivals in the country. The Cebu City government in every Sinulog Festival is giving away millions of pesos in cash prizes to all winners of the Sinulog Grand Parade and Grand Ritual Showdown. The biggest winner alone this year's Sinulog 2023, is the Omega de Salonera from Surigao del Norte, bagging a total of P3-Million cash prize. Inayawan Talent Guild and Cultural Troupe from Cebu City bags a total Cash Prize of P2-Million pesos. Lumad Basakanon from Cebu City bags a total Cash Prize of 1 Million pesos. Barangay Tejero bags a total Cash Prize of P1-Million pesos. And other lucky contingents won more than P500-thousands pesos each, and so on. The Sinulog 2023 has a total budget of P35-million, not including the funds that will be disbursed for the physical setup in the South Road Properties (SRP), the new location for the grand parade and other activities of Cebu’s largest festival, and the grandest festival in the Philippines. And the Sinulog Cebu City-based contingents will receive cash subsidy or financial support of P500,000 each; and out-of-town contingents will receive P600,000 each from the Cebu City government. Also, the Sinulog sa Kabataan will receive cash subsidy of P800,000 to each of the 17 contingents.

it's better than before Covid. It's now at a place that's wider and less congested, leaving the main thoroughfares a bit more passable. Remember that this was the first time ever it was held in SRP. Hopefully the trend continues. The street parties still was thumping around the Fuente area, but the areas that were closer to SRP like Plaza also had it's thing going. Overall, it was, as always is, great!

I think SM destroyed the traditional Sinulog festival, it’s like they own the event, almost all the Sinulog events are inside SM’s compound/property and nearby SM’s vicinity and for sure that in the future SM will be hosting the official Sinulog events because they have an arena to host the Sinulog every year, capiltalism will destroy the culture and tradition of Sinulog in Cebu..
