BUT a Leopard will NEVER EVER hunt and EAT a Hyena. On the other hand a Hyena, being a very opportunistic predator / scavenger by nature, might kill and eat a Leopard? This is the most amazing footage I ever recorded in the wild of Africa and it is featured here, on KZfaq, first.
These big cats eat a variety of food, from wildebeest to fish, but most of their diet comes in the form of antelope.

@@bdanielbarnhardt2354 watch the documentary called Tiger Dynasty. In that u will see an indian leopard becomes aggressive and kills an Indian Striped hyena as it tried to scavenge its kill. It was an adult hyena actually. But sadly the tigress shown in the same documentary killed the leopard at the end because it was a threat to her cubs

I was just saying that killing a young hyena not that big a deal a full adult would b impressive that's all. Wasn't implying that a leopard couldn't kill an adult hyena

Africa was the same as it was except in the case of elephants, rinhos and to a lesser extent lions. Lions kill more of their kind more than people kill them. Thy starve and only the fittest survive. I live in Africa anyway and what most people think isn't true

Absolutely. The greatest ambusher by far. Its striped-spotted competitors live in jungles where it is much easier to ambush. This lone hunter ravens for prey in the savannah.

If you think the leopard is underrated look at its South American cousin, the jaguar. It’s literally just a larger more versatile leopard but instead of killing with a neck bite to the jugular, Jaguars aim and pierce through the preys brains stem. Jaguar kill caimans all the time and they’re excellent swimmers

It’s actually amazing how calm the leopard is around the traffic, I think it’s actually used the vehicles as cover to stalk the prey- super smart kitty !

The leopard seems adept at using vehicle numbers, fumes and engine noise to stalk and kill. If he was that bothered about these mechanical distractions he would keep well away from the road. They're smart creatures and highly adaptable

Depends on the Leopard, some adult Leopards are very bold and brave. These cats have different characters some are brave others not so much, but a full grown Leopard can definitely kill a full grown Hyena one on one. The reason it is rare is because the Leopard is a solo hunter so the risk of inury is paramount in its decision making on what animals to take on. The Leopard is very aware that Hyenas move in clans so if the Leopard gets into a fight with one Hyena it is likely to back off after not to long for fear of the disturbance attracting the rest of the clan.

Give a hyena carcass to the leopard why wont it eat ir. There was no leopard hunting or killing a hyena in this video, only eating. If a video says in the description that the recording has a bunch of stuff that isn't actually there, i think its safer to say that it's a load of crap. Maybe it was a old hyena on its deathbed, maybe they shot the hyena and moved the carcass and left it in the leopards region. Who knows.

Okay honestly it was a young Hyena . If it was a Adult Hyena this video would be something different. Because in truth it already been clear and claimed that if an adult Hyena face against a leopard . It would be a bloodbath. Meaning both could be seriously injured for that one battle. And if its possible they both would try not to fight against each other's , unless it was necessary. Plus this Hyena seem to be a outcast and in truth a outcast hyena it's hard for them to get food and they become more weaker. That's why the outcast Hyena need to hurry up and find them a pack who can welcome them into they're family of pack. And if that Hyena get accepted by the Alpha Female. Then that Hyena would always eat last .

In all the videos I've seen, I have never ever seen one where even a lioness has killed an adult hyena on a one on one confrontation. The hyena looks to be young and smaller in size than the leopard.

Leopards eat anything that moves , it must have been starving for more than a week to hunt and eat a hyena since they usually avoid them because they live in packs , i think the leopard just saw the opportunity and went for it hoping that the pack isn’t near.

The cars provided cover, and most of all, these cars also collect where there is something interesting to see which means that the predators are using the cars as look-outs.

In the video, someone says that its mother ran away for her life. I don't think that is the case. Most likely it is another sibling. Most adult Hyenas steal the prey from average size leopards like this one and eat it in their faces. Most likely were two young siblings that strayed from the pack.

Reinhold, warthog kills by leopard are very common, they are a staple diet for leopards. There are many such on KZfaq. But a leopard eating a hyena is something unheard of!

Seriously doubt that’s a “mother hyena.” Looks more like a small male or a juvenile. The females of this species are much larger than males and tend to be more aggressive. I don’t think a leopard that small could take a full grown female.

I'm surprised the leopard was able to hunt anything at all with so many freaking noisy vehicles following every single step it takes ....it could work in its favor but I think that the prey will eventually relate the vehicles to the presence of a predator and run away thus making it difficult for the predator to be able to catch anything

Actually, full grown Hyenas aren't afraid of Leopards. A lone Hyena will even try to muscle in on a Leopard feeding to steal it's kill.

They can only shows dominance of this lonely creature using their numbers that to 20 to1 ratio and most of the those are female. A leopard is extremely strong and skilled. It's jaws and upper body have the power to drag around an animal weighing over 50kgs. In perspective, try lifting and moving around a bag of cement (50kgs) with your teeth.

They don't just follow them everywhere they go. There are designed roads on these safaris where if you're lucky, you might catch one of these incidents happening. The animals don't mind people being there, it's like while they're hunting and there's a herd of elephants or animals nearby. it doesn't faze them, they only have their prey on their mind.
