“While in prison, Tupac Shakur studied in depth the teachings of the political philosopher Niccoló Machiavelli. Tupac said he learned a lot from reading Machiavelli’s books, particularly The Prince and The Art Of War. After his release from prison, Tupac began using the name Makaveli to represent his new way of thinking.” 🖤

Tupac’s mama was my next door neighbor and I can totally see Mrs. Afeni telling him that. She was intense. A force of nature. It’s where he got his work-a-holic nature from.
@Harrell9945

Also, think about this song metaphorically. Tupac was in prison (not producing =musically dead) and now has returned. He’s resurrected. This is his “afterlife” so to speak and he’s come “back from the grave” to “haunt” all his competitors in the rap game. Furthermore, he has had time for reflection and growth while in prison…a transformative “near death experience” so to speak and he laments all the promise he saw wasting away during his incarceration. Hail Mary is like his confession and penance for the recklessness of the sins of his youth and a promise to be better in this next life. I always loved the introspection and symbolism of this lyric.

He's not "haunting his enemies" He literally said, to my homeboys in Clinton Max doing their bid, Raise Hell to this real shit, and feel this. When they turn off the lights, I'll be there in the Dark, thugging eternal through my heart, HAIL MARY. He showing them love and saying that he'll be there with them in his second form whenever he passes. Keep doing your thing tho, much love from Sweden. R.I.P Makaveli The Don.

TuPac created that entire beat once they hit the studio…they said on the way he was humming melodies from his head and once they hit the Stu…he directed the producer to follow his direction…brilliance at its finest and penned and recorded the entire album and mastered in 7 days. Brilliance..:and only 25 years or less on this planet.

So glad to see you being open minded to going down the Pac rabbit hole. Here’s some fun facts on the “Makaveli” album: it was Pac’s last project before his death (was actually officially released ***correction*** 53 days after his death on November 5….), titled “Makaveli: The Don Killuminati 7 Day Theory.” For years his stans thought it was meant as a subliminal for him faking his death, to return 7 years later (as Machiavelli describes in the Art of War). However, one of the members of the Outlawz explained years later that it was meant as a major flex, where pac claimed you only need 7 days to put out a project. It was also revealed years later that Pac wrote, recorded, mixed/mastered this whole project in 7 days. (It’s also well documented that Pac is as an insane workaholic, writing/recording thousands of songs). I could continue with similar stories/facts on this for days, but I will spare you. Lol. ****Definitely need to peep Ambitionz Az A Ridah, & Unconditional Love next. 🙏🏽

The reason the Outlaws were on this was because the entire album was supposed to be an introduction to them as a group, 2Pac would release Makaveli as the leader of the Outlaws. Then the Outlaws would get their own group album, followed by several solo albums from each of the members. But the album kind of evolved passed that and became this pseudo-religious look at the rap industry and 2Pacs life in general. Against All Oddz is probably one of the best songs on the album because 2Pac goes directly at the people who set him up in 1994 and had him shot, and while it is technically a diss it's done coldly and in an almost unemotional "these are the facts" kind of way.
@irepfrisco415
@irepfrisco415 2 жыл бұрын
The Outlawz were on this for the same reason they’re the main feature on all of Pac’s albums starting with Me Against The World. Because they are his group he created, his lil homies! The intro to them was actually “When We Ride” off of Book 2 of Me Against The World. If I’m not mistaken, it’s the only song which features all members, including Big Syke aka Mussolini. At least up until then it was the only song to feature the entire crew!
@jimmybonez7528
@jimmybonez7528 2 жыл бұрын
@@irepfrisco415 What I meant was 2Pac finished an entire album shortly after All Eyez on Me released specifically for the Outlawz as a group. The album was in postproduction with music videos being shot for Hit Em Up & Made Niggaz already as well as plans for other solo projects for the Outlawz. But the process was taking so long that 2Pac decided he would then infact make a solo album to introduce "Makaveli: The Don of the Outlawz" first.

“Come with me.” Hail Mary n*** run with me. What do we have to now?” Its a reference to Christ’s resurrection. Mary was one of the first witnesses to the empty tomb, and then told the rest of the disciples to come and see. This is yet another reason why people believed 2Pac to have faked his death. I was one of those people. I have come now to accept that it was simply part of Pac’s plan. He wanted the world, especially his enemies, to believe he was alive after his death, so he recorded hundreds of songs to be released after. Pretty crazy.

Yea he had passed by the time this album was released. I remember going to tower records and buying with my big sister. The stores were packed trying to get it.. he'll always be the goat to me. The album was makaveli album who was a magician who faked his death and came back to life. Pac was leaving deathrow and killing off "2pac" and was going to change his name to makaveli. His brain operated at such a high level that it was almost unbelievable. Keep in mind he was writing this stuff when he was in his early 20's. The features were from the outlaws and they were fairly new. So they didn't sound as clean yet. Glad you listened to this.

Love Tupac!! He also went by Makaveli. The song was released 5 months after he passed so I’m assuming that’s why he’s not in the video. I was 14yrs old at the time and I have a sh*tty memory so I couldn’t remember and had to look it up…but I do remember listening to it. Think he’s my favorite rapper of all time, he was so intelligent and rapped about real sh*t and tried to make a difference in people’s lives…he was (and still is) truly an inspiration ❤

This was release after he passed. I love Tupac as much as you do for Biggie if not more. I don't think to this day there is many rappers that can deliver music better than Pac he just put so much in his music, even till today with remix and all that people cant deliver as strongly as he does. Maybe they can try to get the same power delivery as he does it even today recording after the fact but they just cant. This is why he is consider to be the GOAT. Love your reaction btw and the fact that you grew up during the east west and didn't listen to Pac until recently makes your reaction even better than most out there.

MrLboyd! I know you're looking into 2pac and probably you're looking forward to continue (obviously you should) but after I heard your comment about 2pac's features I thought, well you should check a new group that emerged not long ago called "Coast Contra" they give Wu Tang Clan vibes and they talk while rapping while also spitting good bars, i would recommend listening to "Speechless" or "Never" freestyles they got... i can assure you will not be dissapointed
