Good reaction, thanks and welcome to BABYMETAL. Heaviest song about playing hide and seek... Yes, "Catch me if you can" is about playing hide and seek or tag... BUT... with an "oni", a sort of Japanese ogre. This was also my very first BABYMETAL song, so it's very special to me. I'm glad you enjoyed it. And yes, this is definitely one of their heaviest songs but it also has one of their cutest choreos, including my personal favorite movement: the infamous "Moa slide". BABYMETAL are: Suzuka Nakamoto as SU-METAL (the lead singer), Yui Mizuno (as YUIMETAL) and Moa Kikuchi (as MOAMETAL) which are in charge of backing vocals and dance. The band supporting BABYMETAL is known as Kami Band. They are a group of session musicians. And in this compilation, in order of the solos, we have: Mikio Fujioka (RIP) and Takayoshi Ohmura (guitars), BOH (bass) and Hideki Aoyama (drums). Of course you want more! 😁 So here is my suggestion: "Headbanger" (Live at Legend 1997). Until next time!

You guys have more than a Decade of History and Lore to explore with this group...and some just plain'ol, hands down, Fantastic Music to experience!! As others have said, "Officially", its just the 3 girls, Su-metal, Yuimetal and Moametal, that make up Babymetal. However, do to poor health, Yuimetal left the group in late 2018 so its just Su and Moa now, and the group is currently on a "Hiatus" but will be back..(already releasing hints on some of their new sounds!). Their Backing Band is the 'Kami Band' or the God Band and is made up of some of Japan's finest session musicians and most fans consider them part of the group because what would a Live Babymetal performance be without the Kami Band?? Just another Idol group singing and dancing to a backing track...(hehe..that's actually how Babymetal started!!) You may be late to the game, but you will be glad you made it at last!! Expect several Weeks and Months and Years of exploring their Music! Thanks for the Reaction and as always.... Put your Kitsune UP!! Po!

every BABYMETAL song is one of a kind. The instrumentalists change over time. This is more a production than a band, but yes, the girls (now women) are central/most important. I recommend: Road of Resistance (live), Shanti Shanti Shanti, Megitsune (music video), BxMxC (live), Headbanger (live)

⚡ 💀 💕 / 🏃‍♀👹 That was a compilation video, with footage from ten different BABYMETAL shows from 2013 to 2016. The audio was from the Wembley Arena and Tokyo Dome Red Night concerts. My only reservation about introducing someone to BABYMETAL with this song, is that it's quite a while before the lead singer, Su-metal, even starts singing. It's a lot more clear in some of their other songs how good Su's voice is. Of course that can be easily fixed by watching more BABYMETAL. : ) This song is about playing a game that is kind of like hide-and-go-seek, with some tag and blind-man's bluff mixed in. Pursued by an "Oni"" which is a kind of Japanese Ogre. If not a real monster, than at least someone pretending to be one in order to terrify children into behaving. For your next BABYMETAL songs, I'd suggest 'Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!', 'Ijime, Dame, Zettai', or 'Road of Resistance'. I'll add links in a new comment, since KZfaq will sometimes delete comments with links.

The whole world is wondering how and why this is working so well. No one figured it out yet. No one was able to copy it successfully. Even after more than a decade BABYMETAL is still unique. Some metal purists might thank the Fox God for that but others count their live shows to the best metal experiences ever done on this planet. :)

Well, you kind of answered it already, here is the closest answer I can come up with: the music is actually intricate, well written often has melodic parts, catchy, etc. aka good. And everyone involved in Babymetal has a lot of talent and did the hard work to deliver a live performance like very few can deliver. And they know how to do audience interactions better than maybe any other band who has been doing it for decades.

Babymetal is the group responsible for the 3xplosion of Japanese metal and hard rock bands in the West. Japan has a long history with metal but only a couple of those bands, Loudness and X-Japan garnered much attention in the west. Babymetal 5hough broke huge outside Japan and led thousands to give a chance to the incredible J-Metal talent.

This is an interesting song. It's a song about playing Hide & Seek/tag with Oni-san (Ogre) as for their Style, BM is all over the place. The group (originally Su, Moa and Yui) were an experiment by Kobametal to see what would happen if you fused j-pop with metal. I'd say it worked since they have been around for 12 years, yes 12, that's not a typo. But listening to their songs (the have about 50) some will be heavy, some more poppy, one sounds like an Irish Jig, they have one that sounds like it could be in a Bollywood movie. As for suggestions, I see people already suggested Headbanger, Road of Resistance and Karate that's a good starting point. Be warned, Amuse is quick to claim ownership on videos and block them. There is I site that you can view videos that have a watermark over them, and that's usually enough to avoid being blocked. Live is always better than the music videos, but sometimes the music video tell the story better, so you may want to react to a live version, and the check out the m/v.

Welcome to the Foxhole and BabyMetal Galaxy 🦊🤘 BabyMetal is a Japanese metal dance unit created in 2010 under another Jpop/Jrock group called Sakura Gakuin, they had 11 and 12 years old and become independent after 2013, they created their own genre called kawaii-metal (kawaii means cute), mixing Jpop with metal sound and different subgenres along with many more rhythms, they are: *SuMetal* lead vocalist. *MoaMetal* scream and dance. *YuiMetal* scream and dance, former member since 2018. The Kami Band here are top notch set of elite musicians whom were send to help with the metal sound, they rotate so probably you won't see some of them in all live concerts (especially the guitarrists). We know Amuse is very hard to deal with copyright blocked issues, fortunately we got a way to go around with *(I'll put the title on next comment down below)* YT place, you'll get full original clips of their best live performance with watermarked logo safe to react, look for "Future Plans" vid, follow instructions and you'll get all of them, upload the one with the logo for us and you can watch without it, don't worry for us we already saw all of them. You'll find some watermarked clips in the channel also with the description and where to get the non-logo version. You can also put some heavy opacity and translucent effect to avoid those issues. However there are some safe clips to react like those from Legend 1997 or some of Budokan 2014 or previous to this year and some Festivals that is out of reach from Amuse hands. By all means AVOID live compilations at least for first time watching, not saying all of them are bad but chances are you'll end up facing the bad ones bad edited, very confusing, switching costumes and distracting you from the performance and meaning of the song. Also don't go for Glastonbury Festival performance, the sound is bad and the crowd isn't the usual fans. Here's some examples of safe to react live performances: - "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" live at Legend 1997 (2013) or Legend I (2012). - "Rondo Of Nightmare" with Mischiefs Of Gods Intro live at Budokan 2014, this one normally is safe to react without any filters. - "Catch Me If You Can", you got live at Budokan 2014 with subtitles version at "GuilhermeCait" or live at MetroRock 2015 at * under the title "CMIYC". - "Ijime Dame Zettai" live at Sonisphere Festival 2014 (this probably get some troubles, careful) - "Karate" live at Download Festival 2016. There's no report to this day from anyone being blocked using watermarked logo recommendation so there you go. Thanks for sharing your BabyMetal reactions and see you next time. 🦊🤘

Great first reaction and welcome to the BABYMETAL Galaxy. You won't find another band quite like them, they are the first to successfully do a fusion of Metal with JPop aesthetics and they invented their own new genre - they call it Kawaii Metal (kawaii meaning cute as in adorable). 'Catch Me If You Can' is the best metal song about playing a game that's a sort of cross between tag, blind man's bluff and hide & seek I've ever heard. It is the perfect mix of the two extremes with the brutal instrumentals and the sweet vocals - and the game they are playing, they're playing with an Oni (a sort of Japanese ogre popular in regional festivals and used specifically to frighten children ... is it wrong that just the thought of that amuses me a lot?). The growling vocals (they are on a backing track) are the Oni asking things like "Are you ready?" and the best response has to be "Maada da yo" (No, not yet) while doing a running away from an Oni dance. They have about 50 songs now, every one of them is different. They have songs in virtually every metal genre (thrash, djent, power, speed, black, death, folk, prog, nu metal and more), but they will also mix in other musical styles and genres (pop, ska, reggae, rap, hip hop, edm, Bollywood, Latino, and more) usually when you least expect it. Some songs are straight metal, others lean towards their pop roots and they do everything in between ... and they make it work every time. There are no fillers. You will get a lot of suggestions for more songs like 'Headbanger' live at legend 1997, 'Megitsune', Ijime, Dame, Zettai' and many more ... pick any of them or the others you've had suggested - and live performances are the way to go (use the Babymetal Reactor Resource videos for the more recent performances). BABYMETAL is the three (now two) girls. They are Su-metal (she is the lead vocalist and the whole idea and concept for BABYMETAL is based around and only exists because of her talents) Yuimetal and Moametal. Yui and Moa provide backing vocals, harmonies and do most of the dancing, but they are more than just dancers - their role is key to what makes BABYMETAL unique. Su-metal rules the stage, Yuimetal and Moametal get the audience involved, they lead chants, when they sing the audience sing along to their parts, when they jump or make a particular move so does the audience. Sadly Yui left the band in October 2018 for undisclosed health reasons - her last show was in October 2017. Su and Moa chose to continue as a duo and from 2019 through 2021 were supported by any one of 3 girls (the Avengers - Kano, Riho and Momoko) dancing in the third spot. Supporting BABYMETAL in all live shows are the Kami Band, these are the musicians you saw doing the intro. They are among the very best session musicians to be found in Japan and they can play anything. BABYMETAL started as a sub-unit of a JPop Idol group, singing and dancing to music on a backing track. As they started to gain their own following (which was never expected) they did a couple of small shows in tiny venues and had a fake band dressed in skeleton suits (called Babybones) pretending to play the instruments. In anticipation of BABYMETAL splitting from the Idol group in 2013 to become an independent band in their own right they were given a bit more budget and the Kami Band were phased in gradually. They played a couple of festivals and the encores in a few shows from late 2012. In March 2014 BABYMETAL played a couple of big shows at the Nippon Budokan in Tokyo and released their first album and the Kami Band became their full time support for all live shows from then on. As session musicians they all have their own bands and projects, so there have been a few musicians who swap in and out depending on their availability, but the same hard core of musicians have played the the vast majority of concerts. In this video you saw Mikio Fujioka (RIP January 2018) and Takayoshi Ohmura on guitars, BOH on his 6 string bass and Hideki Aoyama on drums. Other guitarists you are likely to see are Leda Cygnus and ISAO. In 2019 for the US tour and the European tour in 2020 the Kami Band of the West (American musicians Chris Kelly, CJ Masciantonio, Clint Tustin and Anthony Barone) were introduced and supported BABYMETAL throughout those tours ... this was probably because (in part at least) these were the most extensive tours so far so the Kami Band of the East had some clashes in their own schedules that made being on tour for so long either very difficult or impractical.

Nice job guys, appreciate the open-mindedness. And you're right, on paper this concept should result in an absolute cluster-f%#k. This is the brilliance of BABYMETAL. They completely own whatever sub-genre of metal they attempt while mixing in J-pop aesthetics & Japanese culture. And among their large catalogue of songs, they also pay homage to other world cultures (India, Spain, Thailand, Finland) while doing so with the same respect & gratitude they show towards those that they collaborate with. This has earned them the respect & support of Metallic, Slipknot, Lady Gaga, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Bring Me The Horizon & many others. Arigatou! 🦊🤘 #notacult #kawaiimetal #metalAF

Nothing about BABYMETAL is easy to explain. Technically, BABYMETAL has been just the trio of girls. The musicians are hired session musicians, but their line-up has been pretty consistent over years. I would say that most fans do consider them part of the band in their hearts. As you have seen, they are phenomenal in every way. Nowadays there are actually only two girls, as Yui left in 2018 due to health problems, but they are still a trio on stage, as one of three additional dancers accompanies them at any given show. Confusing, right? The question about their musical direction is just as hard to answer. They are fusing multiple sub-genres of Metal with all sorts of completely different genres. You‘ll find influences from Waltz, Hip Hop, Ska, Reggae, EDM, Dubstep, Latin and Indian music and more. Some songs are more on the (pure) Metal side, some are more on the poppy, playful side, most are in between. The only constant is that the fusion is always awesome. So no other song will sound like the one you just heard, but they are all great in their own different ways. You were absolutely right when you said „it shouldn‘t work, but it does“. I still feel the same after 5 years of being a fan. And it still feels as fresh and unique as it did back then. If you are interested in a more traditional Metal song (to the extent that BABYMETAL are doing that), „Road of Resistance“ would be a great choice, preferably the „Live in Japan“ version. But be advised that it gets blocked a lot, so you should pause frequently and perhaps use a video overlay. It sounds like a PITA, but it’s worth it. For another more playful song, my recommendation would be „Headbanger“. The one from the „Legend 1997“ show is great and usually safe copyright-wise.

Welcome to rhe Foxhole!!! 🤘🐶🤘 The reason so many Band-Maid, Lovebites, etc fans recommend Babymetal is because these 3 little girls blasted through the walls of Japanese music industry isolationism and blazed the path to international stardom for all the others, and those others acknowledge it! THE ONE (Babymetal's fan-base) are hoping for a new album by year's end. December for Su-metal's birthday would be awesome, but we may have to wait for Big Fox Day (April 1st - no fooling). *edit* Oh, yeah....reacting to Babymetal will pretty much guarantee exponential growth of your subs. 😉

Great first reaction! 🤘🦊🤘Thank you for giving BABYMETAL a chance. Here is a little bit of BABYMETAL info... BABYMETAL has been melting faces for almost TWELVE years. Su-metal, the lead singer, is currently 24 years old. Yes, the girls were very young when BABYMETAL was formed! In 2019, BABYMETAL became the first Asian artists to hit #1 on BILLBOARD's Top Rock Albums chart with their latest album, "Metal Galaxy" and in 2020 the album won the MTV Japan VMA 2020 award for BEST ALBUM OF THE YEAR. BABYMETAL have performed with, toured with, or opened for Metallica, Korn, Dragonforce, Guns N' Roses, Lady Gaga, Rob Halford of Judas Priest (there's a great youtube video of their performance with Rob at a metal award show), and Red Hot Chili Peppers (there is a youtube video of them performing Gimme Chocolate with RHCP, as well as with Korn, and DragonForce), to name a few of many. They have performed at large metal events/concerts in front of 65,000+ skeptical metalheads in Europe (Glastonbury, Download, Sonisphere, etc), US, and Asia. Plus the 20+ awards they have been given. They have 50+ songs and each one is different from the other, so I hope you give the other songs a try. By the way, they have some really great heavy songs too, and I hope you like guitar solos, as well as bass and drum solos, like I do, because they have them too.🤘🦊🤘

BABYMETAL is officially just the girls, the band known as the Kami Band (Kami meaning God/Spirit, hence the makeup) are session musicians but they are relatively consistent with the drummer, basist and one of the guitarists performing at most shows, there are a few other guitarists that swap in and out. Then there is the recent exceptions when they perform overseas, there is a western Kami Band, but these are also exceptional musicians. Every BABYMETAL song is different, still a mix of jpop and metal, but different styles and subgenres, its all very interesting. Some suggestions I think you could react to as part of your journey into the foxhole 🦊🤘: BABYMETAL - Headbanger (Live at Legend 1997) BABYMETAL - Road of Resistance - Live in Japan (OFFICIAL) BABYMETAL - Ijime,Dame,Zettai - Live at Sonisphere 2014,UK (OFFICIAL) BABYMETAL - Megitsune Live @ Budokan Black Night BABYMETAL | Rondo of Nightmare (w/ Mischiefs of Metal Gods Intro) | LIVE at Budokan Black Night Then once you're through a few of those you might be ready for this one: BABYMETAL DEATH | Legend 1997 (Complete) I'm excited to see you react to more from BABYMETAL.

Babymetal is the embodiment of "it shouldn't work but it does". They are almost impossible to pin down, as they meld metal with all kinds of different genres, so you never know what you are going to get with them. In terms of the songs to listen to, most people digging into Babymetal check out the following songs as a starting point: Gimme Chocolate, Ijime Dame Zettai, Karate, Megitsune, Road of Resistance, Rondo of Nightmare. Just be aware that Babymetal's management company Amuse are very strict with copyright on videos, so using transparency and/or watermarks on the video is a good idea. There is a channel called "Babymetal Reactor Resource" that has watermarked versions of their videos.

Nice reaction. Here you have the classic Babymetal line up throughout the compilation video. You got a nice bunch of clips that show how big Babymetal is and how they put on a great show. Classic Babymetal because they're from when Yui was still with the group. She left in 2018. And Mikkio who did the first guitar solo has passed away. May the Little guitar god rest in peace. The Kamiband are all guys and adults. While Babymetal was at the time of most of those videos under 17. They started young. Like how did they find the time to rehearse all of this while still in school? Babymetal magic. Any group who can regularly mix genres of music with metal and dance to it as much as they do. Must be using magic. Babymetal everything you want in music and somethings you didn't know you needed. See You

Good reaction and welcome to the Babymetal universe. There are two phrases that are omnipresent in all the first reactions of Babymetal: - What the hell is this? -shouldn't work...but it does Babymetal is a band of Heavy Metal idols and creators of a new genre called "Kawaii Metal (Cute Metal)". They started at the age of 12 the vocalist (SuMetal) and at the age of 10 the backup singers and dancers (MoaMetal and YuiMetal, who unfortunately had to leave the band in 2018 due to illness) in an older idol group called Sakura Gakuin (idols of jpop) where a producer who loves heavy music asked permission, due to the power of Su's voice that seemed to be wasted in pop, to create within the group (the group represented the Japanese high school and was divided into subunits representing the school clubs (cooking, art, etc)) the heavy music club. Babymetal was born there and his success was so great that when due to age (at 15 he finished high school and Sakura Gakuin graduated to continue his training and career on his own) Su had to leave the group of idols, they got permission to continue with Babymetal on their own, even though Yui and Moa were still active members of Sakura, since they were still 14 years old. Babymetal, after these 12 years of work, have become the most influential heavy metal group in Japan today and the one with the most international projection in history (I'm not saying the best, because it's not up to me to assess that , if not the one that has come the farthest). They currently have 3 albums on the market (with more than 50 songs to react to and all different, since they have specialized in fusion rather than in a main genre) and it is rumored that the fourth will soon see the light.

React to Road to Resistance Live from Japan from Baby Metal. Its a better representation of their shows. You’ll enjoy it.

Every band you listed would be nothing until BabyMetal broke the ice in 2010. BabyMetal got big in 2013 and Band Maid got signed right after that They all acknowledge the BabyMetal influence. Nemophila does a version of BabyMetal's Megitsune. They will tear you face off in the cutest way possible. Welcome to Kawaii Metal.

Welcome to Babymetal, this was my first song of theirs too, and I couldn't work out why it worked, it just did. Like someone put ice cream in my curry. Stick with it, they are incredible. Best listened to live, their studio and music vids are good, but they go up several notches live. My favourites would be Headbanger, Megitsune, Akatsuki (Su solo), Ijeme Dame Zettai, GJ (Moa and Yui), Road of Resistance, BMC, Karate.... The list is long and distinguished. You have some good times ahead of you

Obviously a compilation video but at least you got to see a few of their amazing stages and crowds they have had. You can't tell me it wouldn't be fun to be at a live show. You can't go wrong with any song with BABYMETAL. All are pretty different. Some more poppy some more heavy. Just sit back and enjoy the journey. Personally I would start with their early stuff such as this one then work your way up to the newer album so you don't get too confused on the members and who is who. BABYMETAL is the 3 girls in the video. But us fans love the Kami band and feel they are very much part of it. 🤘🦊🤘

What they do? Pretty much combine/blending a lot of styles and genres with every metal genres, and every damn song are so different, pretty much completely different. How different they are? Well now you try Road of Resistance, Shine, Arkadia, Shanti Shanti, Night Night Burn, Megitsune, BxMxC, Headbanger... Any of them - prefer live version and you'll see

Babymetal is the reason you are now watching/listening to Japanese Rock/Metal bands. In 2014 at Sonisphere in England Babymetal broke internationally. All they did was conquer an audience of 55,000 in 30 minutes. Next Band Maid broke with their MV "Thrill". Both have been touring the US and Europe for years. Opening up many Japanese bands to the west. Babymetal is just the girls, the band is the Kami Band. They are the touring band and are not the studio band. Babymetal is hard to react to because their agency blocks a lot. There many compilations and MV's with "water marks" you can react to.

This song is probably a good starter song, because it showcases the Kami Band and also Baby Metal, but the lead Su-Metal has a phenomenal voice and it isn't really shown off as much. Ijime Dame Zettai (Bullying Forbidden Absolutley (Rough translation of my small understanding of Japanese) This shows off the Kami Band and Baby Metal as well. The tough part with this band is every song they do has something metal about it, but sometimes like say BxMxCx its like Metal Rap or MegaKitsune is like Traditional Japanese infused into Metal. Headbanger is probably I think the closest to harder metal, but to my knowledge the girls have never officially did the typical metal harsh vocals. Usually that is mixed or another party is brought in. Like the Vocalist of Sabaton was brough in for a song for OH Majinai. Sorry for the long comment just passionate about the band and hopefully they will become active officially soon. There are things happening and rumors, but as the girls say. "Only the Fox God Knows."

3 songs to react to (in this order) from the Live 1997 concert (1997 referring to lead singer Su-metal's birth year as the concert was celebrating her 16th birthday) are "Headbangeeeerrrr!", "Akatsuki (Unfinished version)" and "Babymetal Death". Again" make sure the video titles include "Live Legend 1997". These are referred to affectionately as the "Trilogy of Death". Do NOT watch any Babymetal guide videos until you have reacted to these. It will just ruin initial effect. Then go any which way you want from there, but recommend continuing with songs from their 1st 2 albums, "Babymetal" and "Metal Resistance". This way you can see how the girls grow from pre-teen to teen to young adults and their music along with them. Once you hit the 3rd album, "Metal Galaxy", again the last 3 songs, known as the "Trilogy of Lights" should again be done in order. These are "Starlight", "Shine" and "Arkadia". Kitsune da do! 🤘🐶🤘

Great reaction. Enjoyed the confused look of awesome on your faces. There will be some great information coming your way (trust me -soon) from people who have been fans for years that will fill you in. I just will tell you that these young ladies and their world class backing band The Kami Band are respected by and have either performed or collaborated with the likes of Metallica, Slipknot, Judas Priest, Rob Zombie, Gun and Roses, Korn, The Red Hot Chili Peppers and many others. They are legitimate. React to them LIVE instead of MV’s when possible as this is where they shine. They have over 50 LIVEE song/performances and EVERY one is different. They are fearless exploring other music genres and NAILING them I suggest for your next reaction either Road of Resistance Live in Japan or Karate LIVE at 2016 Download Festival in the UK where 60,000+ British metal heads sing along with the girls. Good luck and welcome. One more thing…. avoid performances from Glastonbury as the BBC ruined the sound production.

It’s a pity that you reacted to a compilation video. Compilation videos are, in my opinion, an insult to both the viewer and the band; the music is certainly overdubbed, and the changes in venue and costumes (sometimes even personnel) can be confusing if not completely annoying. Watching a Babymetal compilation video is like eating prime rib after somebody else chewed it.
