I think you would enjoy listening to the long version (11 min) of "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)", a Disco hit duet with Barbra Streisand and Donna Summer. It was the first duet by two women to top the Hot 100 chart. It is considered one of Streisand's top 10 greatest hits. It's a great song with amazing vocals from Streisand and Summer.
@scottarooni25 күн бұрын
I totally agree with this comment. "No More Tears (Enough is Enough) is an epic duet between two powerhouse vocalists, and Streisand is particularly good on this one. The long version (11 min) is the one to hear!! Streisand also did a solo disco song called "The Main Event" which hit #3 on the pop charts. "The Main Event" is from her movie of the same name. Streisand's vocals on this track are also stellar, hitting the stratosphere more than once.

I have been a fan of Barbara for more than 50 years. There is a very obscure album from 1983 called Yentl. It won the 53rd annual Oscar award for best song. That is one of the most underrated of hers that I could think of. the song is called “Papa can you hear me.” I have seen so many reactors react to her other beautiful songs. I have yet to ever hear any reactor react to that song. I hope you could be the first one.

For another side of Barbara, you should react to some songs from her only #1 album Guilty. The album was produced by Barry Gibb. The songs were all written by the Barry, Robin, and I believe Maurice wrote on some. The Bee Gees sing backup on some songs. Barry had the biggest influence on the album and sings two duets with her. The duets are What Kind Of Fool and Guilty. KZfaq has a live performance of them singing both songs at an outdoor concert at Barbra’s home. It’s wonderful! Also try Woman In Love, written by Barry.

I’m way older than I wish to admit however; I have seen the Barbra 11 times in the USA and once in Israel. There are no words to describe her immense talent! She is not an approachable person, but that’s ok; she is so tiny that I’m convinced she has a high vulnerability level. Nobody else can sing like her! Any attempt to compare anyone else with the Barbra is impossible to fathom!!!

A more obscure suggestion: Vocalise from the Classical Barbra album. She sings the instrumental melody on syllables. ETA: She does some amazing phrasing in Memory. There's a clip floating around of Barbra singing when she was just 13. Amazing.
@BrettTwinSavage25 күн бұрын
Her work with Barry Gibb in 1980 resulted in the chartbuster "Guilty". Produced by Barry, all tracks minus one were written specifically for Barbra by various combinations of the Brothers Gibb. "Woman In Love", and two duets with Barry ("Guilty" and "What Kind Of Fool") all hit the top 10. Other outstanding tracks (though there isn't a bad one) include "Promises" and "Make It Like A Memory". I would suggest studio versions to caputure the full magic that resulted from the marriage of Barry's production and Barbra's vocals.

Her recording of Laura Nyro's song "Stoney End" is perhaps the most rock oriented hit she's had. It's very up and fast paced if you are looking for something somewhat different from her. I'd also recommend the video of her singing "He Touched Me" from the free concert she gave in Central Park back in 1967 which was filmed as one of her TV specials under the very 60's title "A Happening in Central Park. It's near the time of "Funny Girl" but a much different setting.

This is from the play Cats. Barbra never did the play but on stage a woman who was so incredible brought it to life and shows it in context. If you want to then react to Betty Buckley . The part where the song explodes Betty is rising from the floor and she has such control and power that even in the situation where she is trying to stand up that power belt comes out of her like it was trying to fly out into space.

This is just a small sampling of the one-of-a-kind vocals from Barbra Streisand. She was barely 20 when she became a phenom at the age of 19 in 1962, on Broadway in "I Can Get It For You Wholesale," where she would meet her first husband, Elliot Gould. Her stardom never stopped growing, and she became one of the best selling recording artists of all time with the most #1 albums, which was just recently eclipsed by Taylor Swift. She still is however, the only artist to ever chart sn album at #1 in SIX consecutive decades. Her voice is simply beyond sublime, and she's never had vocal training... it's so organic and instinctual. She treats a song like it was a three-part play, which is why it touches the senses of a listener. Looking forward to you reacting to more Barbra. Several posters gave you an excellent suggestion... Barbra's duet with Donna Summer on "No More Tears (Enough Is Enough)" [long version] is a must. Barbra's versatilities have no boundaries, having sung just about every genre out there, including, as this song will show, Disco.

Jane Oliver has similar vocal abilities. Her live album showcases why in her heyday she was often compared to Babs. Streisand has a purity and accuracy that has earned her accolades especially from vocalists. Lesser known Oliver is all of that but with more character in her voice. She covers a tune called "Seasons" on her live album - written by Grace Slick - and kills it.
