As a Vet, I am going to tell you. That you take that persons hand, look them in the eye, and say, “Thank you.” If you want to thank them for their service, Do it. But, don’t ever leave them hanging because you don’t feel equal to their sacrifice. Thank you for your service, brother!

As the daughter of a Vietnam veteran, understand that they are showing you the love they didn't get. They want to make sure you are supported. Just thank them back.

I haven’t heard this song for a number of years. As a 68 year old Vietnam was very real to me & this song immediately brings tears to my eyes.

Sir, thank you for serving. My father was Army served in Vietnam and Korea, he never spoke of his time there. I see things like this or hear others stories and understand why and why he had certain mental fights. I miss him. Bless you and your brothers that went through that.

Thank you for your service sir!!! My granddaddy was in the army in Vietnam for a few years as well. You deserve to be recognized as do all of those who served. Thank you.

This song seems to come up at the most opportune times. I remember several years ago when I was buying my first rifle, I heard this song come on over the radio. When I was at the FFL's house, he "introduced" me to a guy we will just call Dave. Dave had been an assistant scoutmaster in my Boy Scout group when I was younger. When I was younger, I always thought of Dave as kind of the crazy old man yelling at clouds. When he saw what I was buying(Colt 6920), he looked at it and said "That looks so similar to what I carried when I was in Nam." At that point, it all clicked. He wasn't the crazy old guy I thought he was. He was just a guy who had seen some shit in his time, and was still trying to be there for us youngsters as we were growing up. To this day, he and I are still friends. I like to listen to all he has to tell me about the rough times he had back then, and he loves to share the stories with someone who will listen, even when he gets a bit choked up by what he saw. After realizing how much I misunderstood him, I couldn't help but feel bad. He was drafted and had to do what the nation asked of him, and served with pride and honor. I have a great deal of respect for him, as well as all of the veterans who have put the nation before themselves.

I know some Vets out there don't feel worthy of the "Thanks for your service". First off you are worthy. Secondly we don't want our citizens to stop thanking our Vets. So we should just smile and say "You're welcome".

This is such an emotion invoking song and video. My father was in Vietnam. My family has served in every war since the American Revolution. My husband has been active duty USMC for the last 19 years and still going. It definitely puts things in perspective

Oh my, first toby and now big and rich! This can brighten even a dreary, cold ungodly hour Saturday. I almost forgot how much I liked them and particularly this song. Country music always tells a story, and this particular one really does. I love these patriots, and in this mixed up , crazy and getting scarier by the day world we are living in this one really makes us think. Happy, safe weekend to everyone and as always thank you for the video and commentary you do it right

19 and green with a new M16 gets to me, we were still getting M16's when i went to BCT after HS graduation. We got M4's once we got to our units, i think we might have been one of the trainees to qualify with those pieces of shi* lol. My great uncle was in Nam, survived 2 helo crashes. God Bless our Nam vets🤙🇺🇸

Excellent reaction, I would be concerned about anyone that did not get 'the feels' when watching that video. There is a documentary about the making of this song, it is well worth the watch.

Most of those guys were drafted so they didn't have a choice. They didn't WANT to be there, but they were there doing what they had to do. They were treated so badly when they came back. I always say "thank you for your service" whenever I see a Vietnam veteran. They appreciate it, even all these years later.

You're fortunate you got to qualify with the M4's, I went to basic in 03 just before the invasion kicked off and we still had M16's to qualify with. I didn't realize how shitty they were til I got the M4 after going to my unit. Anyway.... semper fi jarhead🤙🖍

This battle is not talked about near enough because right on it's heels was the Ia Drang Valley with the 1st CAV. (my father-in-law was killed there before I ever met him) Know your feeling, I missed Nam by 2 weeks (my orders to go were changed to Germany) and vets when I tell them say the same thing: "you didn't miss nothin" Served with a lot of Nam vets and heard a lot of different feelings on it, (some people would call them stories) Finished my 20 in 1992. Thank you for serving.

I have been enjoying your reactions. I love a good patriotic song. And John Rich is a superior song writer. He wrote Faith Hill's song Mississippi Girl and it's her story. Just for fun, you might want to check out their song "Save a Horse, Ride a Cowboy." For another patriotic song "Where the Stars and Stripes and the Eagle Flies" by Aaron Tippen.
