Everytime I hear this song it takes me back to being 9 or 10 riding with my Pops in our old pickup truck to water our cattle in the early morning before sun up. The old 8track blaring with Pops singing the only part he knew “down on main street” English being our second language. My Dad was the strongest man I knew RIP Pops..

The guitar in this song feels like the sadness of the young man who never quite got up the courage to talk to the girl. All he could do was watch her walk on past. Such a good song, part of the soundtrack of my teenage years.

🔻Song Facts: In Bob’s youth, “Seger wrote this song about his high school years in Ann Arbor, Michigan.” “The actual street Seger sings about in this song is Ann Street, which was off of Main Street in Ann Arbor. Seger recalled to the Chicago Sun-Times: "It was a club. I can’t remember the name of the club, but the band that played there all the time was called Washboard Willie. They were a Delta and Chicago blues band. Girls would dance in the window. They were a black band, and they were very good. That’s where I would go but I was too young to get in. It wasn’t in a great part of town but college students loved to go there."

Bob Seger is a great rock singer, songwriter & musician known for his raspy powerful voice. He wrote & recorded songs that dealt with love, women & blue-collar themes. He had so many great songs especially in the 70's-80's such as "Ramblin' Gamblin' Man", "Night Moves", "Turn The Page", "Still The Same", "Hollywood Nights", "Against The Wind", "You'll Accomp'ny Me", "Shame On The Moon", "Roll Me Away", "Like A Rock", "Shakedown", "We've Got Tonight" & "Old Time Rock & Roll".

Perfect example of a " haunting " song. It reaches deep into your soul and wells up into your memories and eyes. This song always takes me back to a bowling alley in 70's New Orleans. My friends and I were on a bowling team. This song was a hit, and the alley played it a lot. Along with " Easy " by The Commodores. Two slow songs that got this rocker engaging the melody. I wasn't the only one, I'm sure. Y'all rock. Asia - your vocal renditions of the songs are cool. You have a killer falsetto. Keep on keepin' on, you two. Your videos are a part of my daily ritual. And I know this is true for lots of other Reaction Videos channels viewers.

Bob Seger was on a short list of artists known for the quality of their live shows, and his 1981 album, Nine Tonight, is a concert recording. This song is also on that album and alto sax plays that wailing guitar part that repeats throughout. The solo is still played on electric guitar, but is harder and grimier. Excellent live versions of all his hits, such as "Her Strut," if you haven't heard that one.

The actual street Seger sings about in this song is Ann Street, which was off of Main Street in Ann Arbor.

I was a DJ in Dallas in 2970s and 1980s. We got in free to every concert in Dallas. I've seen over 450 bands live. Not including solo acts. Very fortunate time in,my life
