This was 1992, grunge was at it's height (Nirvana, Pearl Jam) 1980s rock was pretty much dead, the world was a very different place from the 80s. Bon Jovi were one of the few bands that successfully transitioned into the 90s. This album was also much more politically and socially oriented than their previous albums. The early 90s was a difficult time for a lot of people, the excess of the 80s was gone and the world was now dealing with a financial recession people everywhere losing ther jobs, wars overseas. The younger generation had lost a lot of hope. Bon Jovi was bring back the hope. ❤

Bon jovi, guns n roses and Aerosmith were still bigger than grunge bands

@@heavyrules6699 Depends on which grunge bands in the first half of the 90s. Nirvana's Nevermind & Pearl Jam's Ten were eventually certified diamond in America. Bon Jovi & GNR reached that in the previous decade w/ Slippery When Wet & Appetite for Destruction respectively. Van Halen & Def Leppard did so twice. Aerosmith never did. Though Bon Jovi's greatest hits compilation Cross Road (1994) also became one of the best-selling albums worldwide.

Yeah this was the Premier of his haircut but most importantly. He proved he was more then just a pretty face. He had something serious to say. They had a lot to say on this album. "Keep the Faith" and "These Days" in my opinion.. Their best albums. You need to take a serious listen... The lyrics are seriously deep. No joke. They grew up between "New Jersey" and "Keep the Faith"

Bon Jovi rose the superstardom in the 80's as an arena rock band, riding the wave of the 80's 'hair' scene... In the 90's, Bon Jovi took a break, and saw more stripped down bands like Nirvana & Pearl Jam becoming huge... so they took out the hairspray & costumes, stripped down their sound for the 'Keep the faith' album in 1992. It became a 2 million-selling hit in the US. The 1995 album 'These days' was a ballad-heavy record w/ country influences... Bon Jovi took another break after 1996. When Bon Jovi emerged in 2000 w/ a new album 'Crush', they embraced pop music and had a huge hit single "It's my life"... followed by the 'Bounce' album in 2002. In 2004, Bon Jovi embraced more country influences w/ the 'Have a nice day' album. They release a full-on country music album 'Lost highway' in 2007 before returning to a more familiar rock sound in 2009 w/ 'The Circle' album. In 2013, they released the album "What about now?" which ended their relationship w/ founding guitarist & songwriter Richie Sambora 😔 Bon Jovi announced the addition of guitarist Phil X in 2013... he has played on the last 3 Bon Jovi albums, which seem to be on the adult-oriented rock style...

You gotta do Bon Jovi - Hey God then do some from the Bon Jovi guitar player Richie Sambora - One Light Burning or Stranger In This Town. Without Richie Bon Jovi would have never had the same sound and feel. If Jon is the heart of the band Richie was its soul. Even try the Sambora song Ballad Of Youth which isnt a ballad at all kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ndxojcR1xNWqoHk.html

That was a great tour that included the "Backstage with JBJ" fan club trip in New Jersey. What a blast that was! In 1 week I saw Bon Jovi 5 times. 3 on my own and twice with them. On the trip met the band and Jon's family. Went on a Bon Jovi cruise around Manhattan Island. We got to see "Moonlight and Valentino" before it even premiered in theaters. Went to their soundchecks. When I watch the London show brings it all comes back to me. It was at that time. Though the fan club gave us videos of the trip. That concert reminds me more...it was the same show we saw. Jon had the best fan club. His mother Carol ran it. Nice lady and easy to talk to. That was just one week of my summer of Bon Jovi. "Destination Anywhere" tour was even better I loved being neighbors with NJ. There was always something Bon Jovi or Jon going on somewhere back then. Not always arena shows a lot of radio station up close and personal shows and shows that members got VIP tix.

Stopped here because you reacted to Bon Jovi's greats that others are missing! This & Lay Your Hands On Me are two of my faves by them. So thanks for 'going off the grid'. I just wish you would be a little more 'quieter so you can hear'. I would have liked to see more of your reaction instead of you making a show. You're probably 'the life of the party' and accustomed to being the center of attention & putting on a show. (Just me reading your behavior). But, if you're reacting to 'hearing Bon Jovi's music for the first time, he is the center of attention & so is the music, and I would like to see your real appreciation of his show, music, lyrics, etc. I would enjoy reading your happiness, surprise, etc., as you experience the music, song and show. I see a very tiny bit and it's great, but the rest of the time, IDK, you seem like you're just making a show/spectacle. Disappointing because obviously, you are choosing great music to experience. I think you're trying too hard. Anyhoot, I'll come back around and keep giving you a listen. But I wasn't moved to like and subscribe. Of course, I'm just one older lady out of millions so.....But, I think you're capable of a better & broader audience connection & a larger appreciation/experience of the music that you're exploring. Thanks for reacting to this!

Ironically, that song and that album (we're in 1992) determined the loss of almost all the old fanbase, that was clearly unable to understand the evolution of the band past the '80 hair metal clichés. Glad to see you enjoying the diversity of their production, understanding that is a plus and not a minus. From the same album: "I Believe" (the music video was shoot here in Italy, at Milan), "I Sleep When I'm Dead" or the epic "Dry County" (although the single version was brutally abridged in respect to the 10-minutes album version). In "Dry County" the guitar solo is even better than this.

This may have been true for some of their older fans bu the younger ones, i was 10 when Slippery came out and became a huge fan, really appreciated their growth musically. It was more mature and it caught the mood of Gen X quite well.
