We loved 80s music. Didn't care how they dressed. Fashion had no guideline. Just wear what was comfortable.

"Comfortable"!? XD I sincerely doubt most of those getups had anything to do with comfort. It was about being flashy. Gotta have that trail of fabric glide when you spin and stay in motion for a while when you stop. Looks great for the camera. I believe the 80s is when the music video became a central focus for marketing, so it only makes sense.

Other great songs are "Always", "Bad medicine", "It's my life", "I'll be there for you", "In and out of love", "Never say goodbye", "Living on a prayer", "Wanted dead or alive" and "Runaway". Also, Jon Bon Jovi did a solo song called "Blaze of glory" that's really good too!! Please react to some of these when you can. You won't be disappointed!! ❤

@@choice12ozborne I agree. The 80's was the best time for music. Even the lesser known bands like Dokken, Tesla, Dio, Great White, Poison, Warrant and most of all Cinderella were incredible. You could go to a concert and see AC/DC with Tesla opening for them and it was unreal. My older brother swears the 70's was the best, but I disagree.

*Glam Metal* - I thank you for this. Glam is the original bastard child of Metal. Every decade or so another comes along. Grunge, Nu Metal, Metalcore... While I'm not a fan of grunge and quite frankly despise anything with the -core suffix, I wouldn't ever seek to omit any of them from metal history. They've all got their place. There are too many elitist pricks in the metal community who shun anything that's different in the wrong way or has garnered too much mass appeal, which incidentally is probably one of the reasons why metal remains an underground genre at large. Write about partying, tune up your instruments, and reduce the distortion, then suddenly it's "not real metal." Yet you can chuck a drum kit, distorted rhythm guitar, and bass in with 14 obscure tribal instruments and it's taken seriously as culturally themed "folk metal." Somehow that logic doesn't apply to the inclusion of a turntable and the insertion of periods of alternate vocal stylings. Oh, but operatic vocals mixed with gutturals are A okay.

Fun Fact: The Band is named for the lead singer Jon Bon Jovi. His great uncle is Frank Sinatra. If you see pictures of young Jon and Young Frank, you can definitely see a family resemblance. No one knew they were related till the 90s, though, because Jon wanted to make it on his own. In Bon Jovi's song "It's My Life", he says "My heart is like an open highway like Frankie said 'I did it my way', he's referring t his Uncle Frankie because the family called Frank Sinatra Frankie, and one of Sinatra's most famous songs is "I Did It My Way". Jon was inspired to go into music because of his Uncle Frankie (Sinatra) but wanted to also say, "I did it my way" by making it on his own.

@@SleepingTiger-vlog I just recently found that out myself. I think it's pretty cool how Jon Bon Jovi put the line ".... like Frankie said, 'I did it my way'" into "It's My Life" (very similar sounding to "I Did It My Way) as a tribute to Uncle Frankie (Sinatra) and the name of Sinatra's big hit to give tribute to his great uncle.

This was the very first concert I ever went to. Bon Jovi and Ratt in 1987. There was a time after grunge music came out that it was something I was ashamed of. But looking back at it now, probably top 5 concerts I ever went to. Their music is aging like fine wine! My favorite from them is the acoustic version of Wanted Dead or Alive with just John and Richie Sambora. Great reaction as always!

Jon Bon Jovi (lead vocals) was born John Bongiovi Jr. 😁and started performing as a teenager in 1975 in his native New Jersey... By the early 80's, he was a local celebrity fronting his band the Jon Bon Jovi Band... In 1983, a crucial year when American hard rock bands were getting signed (Twisted Sister, Quiet Riot, Motley Crue, Dokken...) Mercury Records offered Jon Bon Jovi a record deal, and manager Doc McGhee (who managed Motley Crue) signed on to transform them into an arena rock band which was renamed Bon Jovi... joining Bon Jovi that year were David Bryan (keybaords), Tico Torres (drums), Alec John Such (bass) & Richie Sambora (guitar) The first Bon Jovi album arrived in 1984, but didn't sell well in the US, but became a huge hit in Europe and Japan. 2nd album '7800 deg. Farenheit' did better... in 1985. But it was this record 'Slippery when wet' in 1986 that became a megahit in America, selling 7 million copies and getting 3 huge MTV singles - 'You give love a bad name' ... "Livin' on a prayer" and 'Wanted dead or alive'...🔥🔥 Bon Jovi returned w/ another #1 album 'New Jersey' in 1988 and sold 5 million copies as they toured arenas and stadiums into 1989. Burnt out from years of touring, the band took a break. Jon Bon Jovi released a solo album 'Blaze of glory' in 1990 (Soundtrack to the movie 'Young guns II') and sold 2 million copies... however, that was the start of a rift between him and guitarist Richie Sambora in Bon Jovi, whose solo album 'Stranger in this town' in 1991 failed to sell a half million copies. Sambora had co-written most of Bon Jovi's hits; he felt he wasn't given recognition. The band finally returned w/ a new album 'Keep the faith' in 1992, which changed the band's image & sound from 80's rock to a more basic rock sound that blended Bon Jovi into the 90's rock scene... the album sold 2 million copies. A 'best of Bon Jovi' album 'Crossroad' in 1994 sold over 5 million copies in the US, powered by the ballad single 'Always'... Bon Jovi fired bassist Alec John Such the following year. Their 1995 album 'These days' was a platinum success in the US, but not as popular as past records. Bon Jovi quietly went on hiatus in 1996. Jon Bon Jovi spent a few years in an acting career, playing a supporting role in the war movie 'U-571'. By 2000, members of Bon Jovi finally got together and released the more pop-oriented 'Crush' album... the single "It's my life" became a hit, pushing the record to 2 million sales in the US... the 2002 album 'Bounce' went gold (half million copies) ... Bon Jovi scored another platinum record 'Have a nice day' in 2005 after the single "Who says you can't go home" was a huge country crossover hit, feat. Sugarland singer Jennifer Nettles. The country album 'Lost highway' in 2007 was followed by the 'Full circle' album in 2009. Unfortunately, after years of differences, guitarist Richie Sambora left Bon Jovi in 2013 after the release of the album 'What about now'. Guitarist Phil X and longtime bassist Hugh McDonald were named permanent members of Bon Jovi. The band has released the albums 'Burning bridges' (2015), 'This house is not for sale' (2016) and '2020' since... But Bon Jovi is still popular for their early hits - 'Runaway' ... 'Lay you hands on me' ... 'Bad medicine' ... 'Bed of roses' ... 'Keep the faith' ... "This ain't a love song" ... 'Let it rock' ... 'In & out of love'... 🔥🔥🤘🤘

I appreciate your comments about the 80's you have a very good eye to analize videos. You are right once again. 80's was my era. I was in collage and these music blew me up. The fashion was just as you describe. You can go on a concert and People were wearing the outfit and the accesories that the band members were wearing on. That was so cool. And this fashion you can see it at school, college or everywhere. The concerts were so much fun because you were part of the show and bands were close to the audience making them part of them. We really felt we were joined to the band. And the bands were always doing cool things and having so much fun while performing. I wish you would be there those years ago. I recomend you to try more Bon Jovi, they are really fun. Try next time Living on a prayer, the lyrics are phenomenal. They won best song of the year with this one. I was in my 20’s during the 80’s, and I gotta tell ya, it was all that and a bag of chips. From Hip- Hop to Hair Band, New Wave, Punk, and great Pop music, in the 80’s no one was tripping, just making money and spending it. Great times indeed

People used to be on point back in the day before everybody had cell phones. The performers could jump into the audience, be caught, and crowd surf without anything more than a running start. Everyone was on the ready at all times. Drummers would even fling their sticks, fans would catch them. Though, I suppose a guitar is some next level shit. Whoever caught that thing has the story of a lifetime and a valuable piece of music history. This band used to be my favorite as a kid. I heard Livin' on a Prayer over the radio when I was... hell, 4 or 5, I think? Had to know who it was. I was given the Cross Road cassette and played the hell out of that thing. Bad Medicine is another great one. The intro is divine. People can say he's corny all they want, but his band puts out some absolute bangers.

Bon Jovi doesn't have a bad song. And they have a 40 year rabbit hole to go down. Some of their faster rockier songs are Living on a Prayer, Bad Medicine, It's My Life, Rollercoaster, Runaway. Ballads are Always, Bed of Roses, I'll Be There for You, and Thank You for Loving Me. These are just a few to get you started. And you're absolutely right. The 80's were the very BEST decade for music, for tv, for hanging with your friends and living your best life. Hugs to you both from Canada :)

For the most part hip-hop is really the only place that judge your outfits more than anywhere else - always did and still is

Yah the 80s were lot of flash glitz and glamor. And on point, the bands all truly seemed to be having a blast - a party on stage!!! And they feed off the crowds energy which fuels their show, which fires up the crowd with more energy which the band feeds off of. So it's a perpetuating battery of energy (which is what the Metallica song "Battery" is all about). More Bon Jovi like this: Living on a Prayer - this was like number one on ALL charts for like 2 months when it was released! HUGE hit. Others: Bad Medicine, I'll Be There For You, Wanted dead or Alive To see one of THE most iconic party bands having fun on stage Van Halen with David Lee Roth at the helm. Their videos: Jump, Panama, Dance the Night Away, Unchained

You don't hear about the song breakout much but it is one of my favorites favorites. There is video of them performing it live that is amazing. I think it is a little harder rock than the mainstream stuff that I also love.

BTW, we all looked like rock stars in the 80'sm It was just better then, in every way. People weren't afraid to express themselves. . You could go to a concert, without fear of violence. Love was in the air. 500,000 people were at Woodstock and
