Chris Stapelton wrote this song right after the Las Vegas shooting he said because he needed an outlet for his rage. Many of us needed an outlet for our rage too.

Four and a half years later, and we still don't know why this happened. There was so much confusion about the events of that night and leading up to it, and then... silence. Still makes me angry.

5 years later and have since moved to North Texas. But the haunting images of that night never will cease. I accept it now. Good folks died in my vehicle. Some of us are haunted even if we weren’t injured. 5 years…seems like a dream.

@@LetholdusKaspyr it was a false flag event. There was video footage of people wearing all black unloading weapons and cash from a helicopter in front of a Vegas hotel I saw. It's gone now.

3 months ago when I heard this for the first time. I didn't think, I don't know why, that more people would, including 19 children would die. And the 2 teachers trying to shelter them would also die. I cry, pray and keep them in my thoughts. That's all I can do 😢💔

@@eugenegrewing2587 I agree. I was thinking more of just audio only versions though, but I get what you're saying. His videos are next level too though. His Fire Away video absolutely kills me every tme I watch it. But, even with that, I can listen to the studio audio and not get the same effect.

This was great but I gotta say studio album version of this in particular is pretty epic though! The choir joining in and the build at the end and the drop out is "chef's kiss" and sounds 10 times better on the cd. The youtube version of the studio version on here with 1.1 mil views even sounds off to me. The CD in my car blasted on my system is stunning

Please, even if it's just for yourself, watch the Steeldrivers' video on youtube of CAN YOU RUN. Stapleton co-wrote this song about a slave's decision to make his run for freedom. A powerful story told with Stapleton's powerful voice.

Man you should come to Ms go to the backwoods bars the black or white. All Music is like this. Cross roads. Beale in Memphis especially late, late night it starts to rumble. Nothing like it. In the old days Fraysers backwoods bar, cross ❌ roads all college kids at state and ole Ms got a real in introduction to what country and blues 💙💙 are when they merge. This is where it all started. From the same roots in black and white Southern gospel. Churches rocking the roof is where the soul comes from

I saw that you reacted to a duet with Chris Stapleton and Justin Timberlake a while back. These two did a song together you may recognize called "Say Something." It's around 4 years old now. I recommend that you react to the official video. It is shot live and uses acoustics of a large building and a very large chorus of people. Gives me chills.

MrLboyd, huge fan of all of your reactions! You need to react and hear Chris Stapleton's tribute to Aretha Franklin the night of her passing, performed live, Do Right Woman, Do Right Man....you may struggle to find a copy with great audio but even so, it speaks to his greatness that he calls it out that "we lost a legend today, ... and in my opinion the greatest singer who ever lived, or ever will live. she is my favorite." and then sent his rendition straight to outer space. Phenomenal.

You should listen to anything by a guy named Mickey Newbury and you can find him on KZfaq. He's got an incredible Irish tenor voice and his lyrics will tear your heart out. I've got every album (remember vinyl?) and I know the words to every song he ever wrote. I had the good fortune to meet him when he appeared at a local club and I asked him why the lyrics to a number of his songs were different from album to album. He said, "Son, I have to re-write them because I can't remember the lyrics". I met him a second time three years later in the bathroom of a club he was playing. He had emphysema, wore an oxygen canula and coughed his ass off, and would close his eyes, open his mouth and knock you off your chair with that voice! When I heard him hacking and wheezing in the stall, I said to him, "Mickey my man, how are you?" From inside the stall, without even seeing me, he replied, "I'm fine, Tim, how about you?" When he came out of the stall, I asked him how in the Hell he knew who I was. He gave me every detail about our first and only meeting three years earlier. Then he said something that told me what kind of man he was, "Hell son, I ain't got that many fans so it ain't that hard to keep up with you." No less a songwriter than Kris Kristofferson called him, "The greatest songwriter America ever produced." If you Google his name you will find out that his songs have been covered more than any other artist in music and is the only artist to have had a #1 song on all 4 charts at the same time' Country, Rock, R & B, and Contemporary. Have I got your interest up yet? Seriously, take five minutes out of your day and listen to this guy. I have heard all of his songs easily a thousand times(and NOT the "same" song} and I will break down crying EVERY time I hear any one of them. He's that good! You've got my e-mail now, so let me know what you think. I don't think there's a greater joy than turning a true lover of music on to someone new this good that they didn't even know existed. As a gun owner, mental health is something that needs to be addressed, but on the same token I’m not sure it would help. How many times has someone done something heinous and everyone that knew them says “that’s not the person I knew” or “I would have never expected that”….it’s sad, but at this point just stay situationally aware and be prepared to defend yourself and your family.
