I think Dan would be perfect as Jesus if Dan ever would do the musical on stage, he has a range and talent that very few have 😊

Dan did a phenomenal job performing/singing/ acting here. I personally don’t think the lyrics hold up theologically, but I can set that aside and enjoy the art for what it is.

Dan has said that he is a Christian. I believe he sang with such passion and sadness as well. He earned a place next to Ted Neely for me.

Thank you for your reaction. The Vasc Nation can be rather overwhelming in our enthusiasm can't we. Some Christians find fault with this song and probably the opera as a whole because they don't see it as biblical. However as a piece of art to show Jesus' anguish that fateful night this song can't be beat. Dan did an incredible job. But then he is a perfectionist and wouldn't put anything out that wasn't.

This is the David half speaking. I too find fault with it from a biblical perspective because it misses the mark. But I really enjoyed this from a musicality and artistic point of view.

⁠⁠@@mollysmom4 Hi! 👋 I put in a request for this to a Christian pastor who does reactions because I thought he would appreciate it. I am not a Christian but I have the utmost respect for those who follow the teachings of Christ. Believe me, I got the chapter and verse on why and how this deviates from Biblical accounts of that night in Gethsemane. 😂 It was fascinating. We have continued the conversation on email, recommending books to each other, etc. I'm really enjoying the interaction and I guess I have Dan to thank for it. 👍😊

Personally, I have no critcism of Dan's amazing performance. His acting ability is extremely admirable❤❤ Another wonderful example of this is from the Phantom of the Opera. He has 2 versions, one where he sings with a female singer but I definitely recommend the other one where he sings alone. Thanku for your reaction🥰

Bit of trivia - The original Jesus on Broadway was Jeff Fenholt. He was very much into the rock & drug culture at that time. (the original live Broadway soundtrack with Jeff is on KZfaq.) He later became a radically saved evangelist! His Christian recordings are amazing! He, sadly for us, recently passed away & I pray Heaven is enjoying his magnificent talents! 💖

John Legend was Jesus. The highlight was Alice Cooper as Herod. As far as the religiousity of this song: A. Superstar is not the bible. It is art. They have Jesus being pursued by papparazzo amd yellow journalists. B. Jesus is the HUMAN face of the trinity, and he was not suicidal or masochistic. C. My bible says he bargained with God "Let this cup pass me by". Then he accepted his fate. D. If you are looking to Broadway to teach you about Hamilton, Fanny Brice, or Yeshua the Nazarene in a two hour musical, you are bound to be very disappointed

Personally, I was not impressed with John Legend. Alice Cooper was fantastic, though. As for your thoughts; A. I think we all agree; as mentioned in the video, it is a Rock Opera. B. We agree with you. C. This is where it is a matter of interpretation; personally (this is Angie), I feel as though Jesus felt all of the human emotions, and went through the stages of grief, per se. David feels as though Jesus had always known this was his fate and had accepted it all along. D. I don't think anyone is looking at a musical for historical accuracy. That would be silly. I'm sure everyone has heard the term "creative licensing". We appreciate your feedback, and we hope you subscribed and enjoy our other videos!
