One of the best groups of the 89’s, PERIOD! I was a tween/teen in the 80s and was obsessed with DeBarge and I’m still obsessed with them and I’m freaking 54 years old. I have a 15-year-old daughter and she knows all of their songs.

This is a family group. There are two others older Debarge brothers in a group called Switch. You definitely have to dive into them also. I think Debarge has had more songs sampled of theirs than any other group. A Dream, Time Will Reveal, Special Way, All This Love, Who's Holding Donna Now, Rhythm of The Night are a few of their hits. Enjoy the rabbit hole. Debarge and Switch were everything back in the day.

Errythang started w/the group called Switch. The lead singer (Bobby) & played the bass (Mark) are DeBarge siblings. Classic songs I call your name & they'll never be.Then check out the DeBarge group of 5 (sampled by a lot of rappers. Biggie, Tupac, etc.). El's solo projects. El's a d@mn genius. He wrote my favorite song Time will reveal when he wrote it 15!! Their younger brother Chico is good. You'll love them. I'm so excited to watch you react to DeBarge. Hurry up Ace! 😊..TELL EM!😂😂

Their biggest pop hit was "Rhythm Of The Night" from the group's album of the same name and the soundtrack to The Last Dragon. "Who's Holding Donna Now" was also a top 10 pop hit. Their earlier stuff was more straight R&B (like this song) and didn't cross over to the pop charts, but is still great. Both "Stay With Me" and "All This Love" were sampled for Notorious BIG songs, and "A Dream" was sampled for a Tupac song, amongst others. El Debarge had a solo hit with "Who's Johnny" too. All well worth checking out, even if on your own time.

The unmistakable falsetto vocals of El Debarge is unforgettable. They had a slew of major hits as a family band. Even one of the brothers (James) was once married to a barely legal Janet Jackson once upon a time. Their songs to check out would be "Queen of my Heart" "Rhythm of the Night" "Stay With Me" "Love Me In A Special Way" and "All This Love". These songs will change your entire musical understanding of just how well compositions and talented vocals can transport a listener to another world.
