Hahaha, what a wonderful reaction! I just love to see someone experiencing Dirty Loops for the first time and have their mind blown. They started the group as a hobby project in 2008, and never thought it would be anything other than that. In 2010 they put up a video on youtube (a cover of Lady Gaga's "Just Dance"), as a booking reference, to see if they could get a gig or two, just for fun, as they thought their music was way too unsexy for anyone to actually like it. Needless to say, they were completely wrong. The video went viral and a LOT of people absolutely loved it. Just about everything they've ever released is of this ridiculous musical quality, so if you consider checking out more of them, you could basically pick anything, and you more than likely won't be disappointed. My personal favourite is one of their more jazz fusion-y pieces, "Work Shit Out". They've all known each other and played together for 20+ years by now, in their mid-thirties. Jonah (keyboard/vocals) and Henrik (bass) even went to music elementary school together and met when Henrik was 11 and Jonah was 9. Aron (drums) comes from another part of Sweden and came along when he moved to Stockholm at the age of 16, to attend the same music high school as they did (he was in the year between the other two). Then they all attended Kungliga Musikhögskolan (Royal College of Music) in Stockholm, where Henrik and Aron studied jazz/rock, and Jonah opted for music production as his main subject. Believe it or not, but Jonah says the piano is his first instrument, not the singing. He comes from a family of classical musicians, and has sung in choirs (mostly chamber choirs) his whole life, but started studying the classical piano when he was 11 and then switched to jazz mid-highschool. When they started the band he had never sung lead and didn't even know if he could. These dudes are ridiculous! 🤯

Thanks Lotta, for this detailed introdution to Dirty Loops. I still remeber my moment to discover them. It was by a post on facebook by a friend (a Jazz-guitarist) from my German hometown. Normally I don´t whatch music triggered like that, but I thought: if my friend... and it was "Work Shit Out". After the first 30 seconds I thought to listen to another "boygroup", but when they first started to loopify and playing with some well hidden jazz-chords, I started to realise, that it´s not another boygroup.... since that day, I am a big fan of Dirty Loops. Best greetings from Westfalia in Germany, Olaf 🙃😎

I think the most mindblowing part of this song is finding out that literally ALL the vocals in this track are Jonah, the lead singer. Aron the drummer wrote these choir backing vocals super last-minute, then he and Jonah assigned each part a "character", and Jonah would distort his voice to fit part so it would sound like a full choir.

Henrik is endorsed by EBS amps in Sweden, hence the massive wall of amps in most of their videos. People even started making comments about it on their videos like: How many amps does Henrik need ? All of them ! etc etc . He jokingly turned that around though in the "World on fire" video where he's using only one of the smaller EBS amps with a ton of different mics instead !🤣

Watch Work Shit Out. Jonah plays piano and keys simultaneously, Henrik shreds, and Aron will leave you on the floor with his solo. These guys are just so much fun, so GOOD, so musical, so talented! I'm 70, and I've never seen anything as good as these guys. They are my absolute favorite, I listen to them daily. And don't miss their credits, their sense of humor is hysterical. Aron & Henrik have been playing together since middle school. They were all at school together (the top music school in Sweden) but Jonah is a year younger, so didn't actually play with them much in school.

Dirty Loops is awesome. The producer of this song (and also mix engineer, and mastering engineer) is Simon Petrén. He's done most of Dirty Loops' projects. Simon Petrén lives in Seoul, South Korea, and he has composed, mixed, and produced a lot of Kpop and other Korean music in the last 7 years. He's worked on projects for several of the artists I'm going to show you, including... Sam Kim. In fact, you'll be seeing a Sam Kim song that Simon Petrén co-wrote and produced in two weeks. I'll be interested if you can pick out the connection.

You've been Loopified dude. Three superior musicians. They have so many great tracks. Keep going, you can't stop now. Here's some I really love: Breakdown (super slinky, different kind of groove, vocal gymnastics and the fills by the bass and drums are sweet) Follow The Light (with Cory Wong, guitar player with his horn section) Work Shit Out (a foray into their jazz chops, has a great Berimbau part that opens the song and also comes back in strong later, and a killer drum solo) I could list more but, anything they do is fire, straight up fire. They don't miss.

I saw them live in London yesterday, they said it was the first gig in London they had ever done. If they don't do another soon I'll go to another city to watch them again. The band was fabulous; they played this song and it was astonishing how close they get to the studio sound even when live in a converted cinema in Brixton. All three attended The Royal College of Music in Stockholm, where they met, so they are all classically trained, including Jonas as a singer. Henrik's bass is unreal (he was originally a pianist and will talk casually about the use of Dorian mode in his riffs) and Jonas voice is even better live, standing in front of you with these incredible runs. Henrik's ever growing bass stack is indeed a running joke with the band and fans, as Bassgroover suggested in a comment below. They used a pretty normal setup on stage, and had a forth player on some songs playing the horns parts on keyboards.

I was fortunate to see them live for a showcase in NYC many years ago… met all of them. They’re the real deal. Super chill guys and live they are AMAZING. Just as tight live as you hear them on the recordings.

Love this reaction! If you're looking for a bass solo you should react to "Follow the light" by Dirty Loops. It's absolutely insane :)
