Reaction to ELO Starlight music(electric light orchestra).
These guys are often referred to as the sons of The Beatles.But ELO are more than that.
Jeff Lynne and his gang are no one trick pony.
Starlight is another fantastic song to add to their list.

Harri, I'm glad you found, "Starlight", as charming as I do. While not on the level of ELO's best tracks, it's proof positive that even the band's deep cuts are terrific songs, that could very well be hits for many other bands. Excellent reaction, once again. You mentioned "the stars", and if there's any connection between that theme and the band's name. Well, I don't see any connection there, per se. However, you are actually onto something, because Jeff was very passionate about the stars, outer space, spaceships (see the Out of the Blue album cover art), and aliens (the next song you'll be getting from me is sung from an alien's perspective!). And finally, as for your interest in seeing ELO live, Jeff was actually touring before Covid hit. Locally for you, he played Wembley as recently as 2017. And Hyde Park a few years before that. His voice was aged a bit, of course, at the 2017 Wembley concert, but still quite strong! Especially for a man who, at that time 4 years ago, was just months shy of his 70th birthday. Hopefully Jeff will hit the road again after the pandemic subsides. In the meantime I can tell you this. Within the next few weeks you'll be getting a request from me to react to one of their songs from that 2017 Wembley show. So stay tuned for that!

Harri, double check your description. 😄 Great reaction as always! Btw, don't give up hope on seeing Jeff. His current ELO band was touring in '19, and he was having a fantastic time, after not touring for the better part of 30 years. I saw the band in July, of that year, and they were incredible!! George's son Dhani Harrison, and his band opened for Jeff, and he joined Jeff on stage for the Wilbury's, Handle With Care. Emotional 💕

I hoped for many, many years to see Jeff Lynn and ELO live. I was far too young to attend concerts in the 70s and early 80s. Lucky for me, he toured a few years ago and I made sure to get tickets. What a wonderful experience. All the goosebumps and the feels when he played “Handle with Care” by Traveling Wilburys. So what I’m saying is , there is still a chance.

Hi Harri, you give one of the best reactions on much good music, and I am so glad you have discovered Electric Light Orchestra or ELO as many call them. Never to late, Jeff Lynne is still going strong and ELO is still alive, but those last years they go as Jeff Lynne's ELO since he is the one that have written all their songs(almost) and also produced the songs. Jeff Lynne has also worked with and produced music for well known other artists during the years, like George Harrison, Tom Petty and Bryan Adams .... I'm pretty sure J.L.s Elo are back on track now after the covid and I'm also sure they soon are back on tour in England, US and around in Europe. Keep up the good work Harri. @@HarriBestReactions Harri, whenever you do react to The Traveling Wilburys, there are two songs that are musts, and should be reacted to in the order in which they were made. The first song is called, "Handle With Care", and that was the supergroup's first song. The other song is called, "End of the Line", which must be reacted to after the first song. In addition, it is IMPERATIVE that you react to the official music videos of each! The primary appeal of this supergroup is not even their music, but SEEING them singing and playing together, side by side, sharing mics, etc. Legends, all five of them. It's extraordinary to watch. Plus, there's another very important reason you need to react to the official music videos, which I won't go into, but just trust me. I'm guessing you chose some other link, not the official music videos, and that's why they're blocked. Because there are a dozen different reactors out there who have reacted to the official music videos of the two songs I mentioned. Or maybe you chose different songs. Either way, follow my advice, brother, I won't steer you wrong. :)

@@Cosmo-Kramer it seem I've been adopted into a brotherhood (never had such a honour before) I'll just say that I agree with you, brother Cosmo. However, if brother Harri is to make excursions into Lynne's music outside ELO, maybe it is also interesting to look at a song or two thay are from the time before. We talked about the Idle Race elsewhere, and I believe I suggested a few songs. There is also the Move, from which my picks for reaction candidates would be _What?_ and _Open Up Said The World At The Door_ - what would you suggest?
@Cosmo-Kramer
@Cosmo-Kramer 2 жыл бұрын
@@lhpl I'm all for that, but not yet, in my opinion. I think Harri should get proper exposure to all periods of ELO's career first and foremost and that's what I'll be sponsoring over the next several months. I'm jumping around on the timeline, as you can tell by my sponsored requests, but I'd like Harri to have about 40 ELO tracks under his belt--especially early stuff like 10538--before taking him back further in time to Jeff's pre-ELO days. But yes, in time I would like him to hear at least one song from both The Idle Race and The Move. After all, those bands were contemporaries of The Beatles. ;) At that time I'll probably come to you for a recommendation from each band.

It's the only right way to listen to it. :-) Have you also noticed that by doing so, it turns out that _Sweet Is The Night_ is a continuation of the story of _Concerto For A Rainy Day_ ? I suppose Tandy says "Please turn me over" for a reason.

@@lhpl Oh yeah. "Sweet is the night" is an amazing song. I think you are right. A concept album without it being one. :) ingenious.
@lhpl
@lhpl 2 жыл бұрын
@@brucer2152 It doesn't take much imagination to make it a double concept album. The entire first LP covers the conflicts that lead up to the "rainy day", where the story culminates. There is the petrifying sense of loss from separation. The chasing of and searching for love, or for the lost/runaway beloved, across the border, in the city, the protagonist even finds himself lost in a jungle. (Jeff has a good sense of humour.) _Steppin' Out_ is confusing, because the singer addresses someone in second-person, but if he's talking to himself it makes sense. Then the _Concerto_ wraps it all up in a nice package with a happy ending. And the last side is the pure bliss of the first night of the new (or reestablished) love relation. I've always felt that _The Whale_ has an erotic or even sexual mood to it. It just feels like cuddling or spooning with a lover after having sex or, more correctly, made love. _Birmingham Blues_ is the oddity here, but I think it shows a duality, just like in _Horace Wimp_ , where Horace finds a wife, only to have "God" tell him to now "go out and find yourself a life." Having travelled the world, the protagonist yearns for home, arrives (achieving enlightenment and love at a fairground on a rainy day as already established), but still has a latent longing for the world, even though he has found out that things, places and people are the same everywhere, and you can't escape your problems. The last song is of course pure idyll, a fantasy of how it would be in an imaginary Wild West, combining the open range and his taste for a nomadic lifestyle, as a hero no less of course, much like in Eldorado, with a loving relation. It is a childish (dare I say boyish?) fantasy, rooted in sentimental western movies. _Latitude 88° North_ added finally in 07, seems to me to further confirm the overall story of a travelling adventurer and his problematic relationship(s). We could call him Wilbury... Of course, this is simply my subjective interpretation, formed from my imagination inspired by many, many listenings to OOTB as one flow from start to finish...

Matt, my list is a long one, so be patient. Hopefully you'll approve of the next couple songs on it. I'll give ya a hint for each. The very next song is about an alien visiting earth. And the track after that, was used as the theme song for a TV show called, CBS Sports Spectacular. You also might like to know that, "Starlight", was not supposed to be today's song. On my list it was, "Waterfall". But it was blocked. And sadly, the song that was supposed to follow it, "Do Ya", was also blocked. So I had to improvise, and, "Starlight", which was actually not on the list, took the place of, "Waterfall", and the one about the alien was moved up on the list to take the place of, "Do Ya". Finally, however, I cannot abide by your characterization that, "Starlight", is just "filler", I think it's a great little song, catchy as can be. Is it on par with ELO's best tracks, of course not. But it's much more than filler to me. And same thing goes for your characterization that, "Need Her Love", is "fluff". I find it to be a touching ballad. Again, not a Tier 1 ELO track. But most definitely not, "fluff", either. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
