The reason Eminem took a shot at Will Smith was because, Will won a grammy for 1 of his albums and said that he did not need to cuss in his songs to sell records. So EM took it as a shot to him.

Not only that Will would often rap about the Grammys he has won because he had won quite a few and been nominated for quite a few and he has often said in raps that he doesn't have to curse to make a hit song. That why Em says "f*ck him and f*ck you too, you think a Guve a Damn about a Grammy? Most of you critiques can't even stomach me, let alone stand me

@@flipgsp I respect him for It because ever since the 80s folks have said that he was soft. In 1991 in the song I'm all That Will said "Out for a while, but wisely kept a Pen and pad by, so when I had my Opportunity to rap, man I Set my goals and then I shot for What I do best: funny, to hell with hardcore" and then he said "People said that I couldn't rap Ha ha ha, you can stop that Cause I'm a rapper and a half And in the past I chose to make people laugh And I was criticized for that Some called me soft, some called me wack" He made the kind of rap he wanted to and was quite good at it so after year of being made fun of, or called soft or cruised he started putting lines like "right one verse without a curse" because

This is why EVERY time he puts out a song, people are sitting on the edge of their seats to see what he says. And it still happens to this day. It used to be for shock value and now it's for his technical ability and crazy bars.
@calebsmith1926
@calebsmith1926 2 жыл бұрын
It was much more for shock value in the earlier years, but more=so for the fact that he needed to prove that he was different and still had absolute bars. He had a perfect mix of shock and talent. The shock for attention and the talent for KEEPING your attention. Coming up as a white rapper during that time must have been a fucking trip, especially such a controversial white rapper.

Ain’t no subliminal on that “Did he” line, he was Puff Daddy, not Diddy Also, the Will Smith shots were a big thing back then. That’s why the skit in “Forgot About Dre” was so funny. “all I know is, I’m upstairs, I’m listening to my Will Smith CD, and I see all them flames going everywhere…“ It was funny because the story was so unbelievable just off that

To the point that I’m infuriated that no one’s stood up when he did lose yourself at the Grammys or whatever it was. Literally no one. I would’ve been up right behind that orchestra not giving a fuck about anything but showing support for him.

Carson Daily and Fred Durst were mentioned in Verse two and could be seen sitting next to a blowup doll which was meant to symbolize Christina Aguilera. Fred and Christina were rumored to have had a relationship of some sort. Carson Daily was the Host of TRL which was a request show on MTV. Fred Durst is the lead singer/Rapper in the band Limp Bizkit. Limp Bizkit was extremely popular at this time and were known for blending rap and rock/Metal together as many bands did at the time.Fred and Eminem were friends until their relationship turned sour in the early 2000s. Limp Bizkit is pretty dope and my profile pic is actually the cover of their 1999 album Significant other. Eminem Appeared in one of their music videos back in the day

Will Smith in his 1999 VMA acceptance speech said 'i won this not having to cuss all over my records' looking directly at Eminem, who he beat in the category. Eminem since them has taken multiple shots at Will Smith in his songs

Christian Aguilera went tv and told everyone that Eminem got married! It wasnt any of her business...she was going by a rumor. Eminem was pissed off because he hadn't told anyone he got married yet! So, he blasted her with the rumors going around about her! lol.
