Amy Lee's voice just commands attention. This song was EVERYWHERE when it came out. My Immortal is a good song showing her range. She also has a good song with the band Seether called "broken" Its a bit like this song where the guy has a lower range than here and they compliment each other.

Shon, I love your reactions. You 'get' great music and Amy Lee and her band Evanescense have a huge catalogue going bacl 20+ years. I really hope you get to react to some more Amy. Evanescence are a perfect example of great 'symphonic Metal and with the beautiful angelic voice she has, backed up by that hard 'grungie' backing...it's a match made in heaven. I LOVE AMY LEE. I saw them live last year and her voice is still amazing. The guy singing is no longer in the band and it was a little disappointing that they cut his part from this song. Eventually the crowd started singing his part.

He was never a part of the band, they didn't cut him. He is (was?) the lead singer of 12 Stones, and the record label had him feature on the song against the band's protests. They ended up liking the end result to my understanding, but ultimately, he is not a part of the band, so they don't tour with him.

I didn’t say they cut him from the band. I meant they cut all of the lyrics he sang when they played the song. I didn’t realize he was never in the band. I was only a casual fan of them. They opened for Korn when I saw them in concert.

The singer grew up with a very strong religious background, so I believe this is really about her wanting the Holy Spirit to save her, but that is downplayed by the record company for sales. Also, having the male singing, too, was insisted on by the record company, but, luckily, it seems to work well.

The male singer isn't part of the band. He was a featured guest appearance because he is from a Christian rock band. Amy's style of singing caught on like wild fire. It's like the band opened up a new genre of Rock music because lots of bands after started using the dramatic long note singing with heavy and fast rock music combo. Her voice is outstanding. Truly worth the rabbit hole journey.

This is a fantastic song, but it's definitely not emblematic of Evanescence's sound. The producers forced them to put a nu-metal rapper in the song despite their objections (this song was on the soundtrack to the Daredevil movie starring Ben Affleck).
