It's in German and yes, was a huge hit worldwide. He's singing about Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart who was considered a rockstar in his time. The word "superstar" doesn't translate so it's in English. Considering no recorded music in the late 1700s, Mozart became famous because of his written music, plays and much later in the recordings who were recorded by other musicians. You were extremely lucky if you actually heard him play. So he was never wealthy as are musicians of today. Falco is honoring Mozart's music in this song. He was composing symphonies at age 3..... a child prodigy. He died at age 34.

And not a single word mentions that both of them are not from Germany but from Austria. Just mentioned that they sing in German to give the impression that they are from Germany, Because in Germany you have nothing but to pretend that world-wide famous people and brands are from Germany. Awkward.

This was a huge hit when I was a kid even though we couldn't understand half of it. We still rocked it at school dances. He's singing in Austrian and English about Wolfgang Amadeus Motzart. There was another foreign language monster hit which a DJ accidentally played the German version of it instead of the English version and Americans lost their minds over it. It's 99 Luftballons by Nena. I hope you check it out. Do both versions.

This was big on MTV back in its heyday, heavy video playing. Back in the day when they would play videos from a number of different genres one after another. Edit: a few years before this song and video came there was a huge movie Amadeus, about Mozart Wolfgang Amadeus life. It was a multi-Oscar winner that a lot of people went to see, so people were quite familiar to Amadeus.

Chod & Dee - Do yourselves a favour and watch the movie 'Amadeus'. It had 18 Oscar nominations & won eight, so you can trust it is a good movie well-worth watching! It is a movie about Amadeus Mozart and it very effectively portrays him as like the first rock star. Falco's song plays on the same idea of Mozart as a rock star. The song came out after the movie. Do watch the movie and see how in Mozart's day, classical music was pop music. As someone not really into classical music the movie gave me a much greater appreciation of it.

I LOVED the singer named FALCO. So, I looked for people reacting to this song. I found you! Thanks. This song, ROCK ME AMADEUS made it to #1 on the charts. It was filmed with the cast of the movie "Amadeus". It was a movie about MOZART. The famous composer of the late 1700's. ( His actual name was Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart) Mozart was so talented, he toured Europe, and played the piano at the tender age of 5. The extras that played all the parts of the people in Austria, at that period of time, were asked to come to be in the video. Falco was born in Austria and speaks German, Mozart was also born in Austria. I enjoyed how kind and how cool you treated this very important time of life, to many of us. This was made in about 1985. The way those people related to each other was all about that era of sexuality and close body contact. No one stared at a cell phone, they stared at each other. It showed how Falco felt very comfortable with the rough bikers, and how much they had his back and liked him, too. Here is the English translation to this hit song. It's about Mozart : 1st verse: He was a punk and he lived in the biggest city, it was in Vienna where he did everything, he had debts because he drank, but all the women loved him, and all of them shouted "come and rock me Amadeus". He was a superstar, he was popular, he was so exalted, because he had flair, he was a virtuoso, was a rock idol, and everyone shouted "come and rock me Amadeus". . . 2nd verse: It was in 1780 and it was in Vienna, no plastic money anymore, the banks were against him, where his debts came from was well-known by everyone- he was a ladies' man, ladies loved his punk, he was a superstar, he was so popular, he was so exalted, that was exactly his flair, he was a virtuoso, was a rock idol, and everyone still shouts today "come and rock me Amadeus" --an American Falco fan who speaks German

Out of the dark were released after his dead and is a bit sad, because he were signed bei cocain abuse and life tragedys. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart became very popular due to a very popular movie about him that came out about this time. And I’m a Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was quite the character back in the day, and the story in the movie revolves around another composer, his rival who hated him. He hated him for his talent his womanizing, his sense of humor, not the kind of behavior. One would expect from a time-honored composer who did his work in the mid 1700s too late 1700s. You have heard many of his compositions at least parts of them.

The lyrics are a hommage to the world famous classical Austrian composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and his expensive lifestyle, which left him in constant debt. His lifestyle bounced back and forth between punk and rapper. (If you never heard his music, check him out, he left a ton of music that still inspires musicians today, many of his tunes have been sampled in modern music and the tune for "twinkle, twinkle, little star" is also taken from one of his pieces!)

It's tricky, with some English mixed in with German. Der Kommissar, has the original German (Deutsch) version, and an English version. I don't know if this has an English version.

Please watch the movie Amadeus. It is an artistic take on the life of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. It may mke some of Falco's interpretation clearer. As mentioned in the comments earlier, there is an English version. Also try Falco's Der Kommisar. Deutsch and English versions exist. Alles Klar?

I never complain or tease people for mispronouncing a word or name; It usually means they learned it from reading, which is always a good thing.

It's pronounced Om-A-DAY-US, as in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. This song was a huge hit (sung in German and English), but the version better known in the USA would probably be by the band: After The Fire (that one entirely in English).
