Once you're done with Gojira (they are a rabbit hole for sure), i strongly suggest checking out Karnivool, a fantastic australian band in Tool's ballpark genre-wise, but quite unique on their own (their rhythm section is insanely groovy). I was a devoted Tool fan for about 10 years when they were suggested to me and they blew me away from the moment i heard the first song. Their Sound Awake album is a modern masterpiece. Start with Simple Boy and Goliath (first song i heard personally) and work your way up the album (it's a semi-concept album, works well as a whole). Asymmetry is a more edgy and experimental album and Themata is straightforward in-your-face. Oh, and if you want to get your face melted by Gojira, do Toxic Garbage Island. It's time. And if you want something more proggy, try Liquid Fire. You can hardly go wrong with them' it's all good, that's why we love them.

Hi Drew! I discovered them about 3 years ago, never really was into metal and the screaming. But Gojira needs a couple of listens, and it just gets better and better. Now you will listen to the more mainstream songs, like the heaviest matter of the universe, stranded and flying whales. Like everyone else i started with those. They're good songs but they have so much better in reserve, trust me. Their first album terra incognita, probably their heaviest is an absolute gem, very Pantera-ish. The following songs are my favourites, but they need a coupe of listens. 1.Remembrance (watch "the link alive" version, it's insane) 2.clone studio version has the most epic breakdown you'll ever hear. 3.Blow me away you also very solid. 4. Gift of guilt live at brixton, another brilliant song and the list goes on and. Gojira were created in 1996, they've gotten a little more mainstream and their music changes a lot over time (much calmer). I really don't mind it. It makes me appreciate them even more. Like you said, Gojira has that sound. And that's exactly what they are about. They are so unique. Live they are so tight. If you dig Panthera, you'll love the older stuff from their first album Terra Incognita. I could talk about them for hours. Again some absolute must sees! - Art of dying at vieilles charrues, gift of guilt at Brixton academy (i would start with this one) and remembrance the link alive for the most epic metal video you'll ever see. They have so many songs that are so good. I really hope you don't judge them too fast with their more mainstream songs, even though they're very decent (silvera, flying whales...) ok i'm done now, cheers. :)

This is actually me first time hearing this aswell this evening. I know quite a good few Gojira tracks, but this one was new to me. I liked it, quite introspective, reflective, with machine gun batterings of riff and drum flung in too. "The Gift of Guilt" has been mentioned here a bit - I really like that one. "Stranded" , from their previous album, "Magma" is fecking great. Just a straight up kick ass song, with a walloping, stomping catchy riff in the chorus. If you Really want your head melted with all sorts of styles, paces, and tempos hitting you often at once, I suggest "Genesis" by Devin Townsend. He goes from Gojira style city flattening riffs and vocals one minute to lush ambiance the next. Throw in a bit of disco rock, and some choir singing along the chorus just for the sake of it, and yer still nowhere near happily trying to understand what the Hell is happening! And its done with a very knowing sense of humour. Devin Townsend is a seriously versatile musician, and has music for everybody. He has worked with Gojira's vocalist in the past aswell.
