The rapper feat. on this is Del Tha Funky Homosapien. He is from the legendary Hieroglyphics rap group. They’re not a real group. It’s a bunch of musicians and artists collaborating to make a virtual group. It was created by Damon Albarn from Blur (he sings on most tracks) and cartoonist Jamie Hewlett. They work with hip-hop producer (one of my favs) Dan the Automator as well as Danger Mouse. They have features such as Del the Funkee Homosapian (Hieroglyphics, Deltron 3030), De La Soul, Shaun Ryder, Bobby Womack, Tina Weymouth (Talking Heads), Mos Def, Vince Staples, Roots Manuva, MF DOOM, Miho Hatori (Cibbo Matto), Lou Reed (Velvet Underground) and a ton of other musicians.

You said you want to see their faces, you already have. The Gorillaz are an animation. When they live gig, they appear as those characters in hologram/virtual form. The lead singer, Damon Albarn is the brains behind it, and he's also the frontman with UK band Blur. Don't be afraid to say old, heck, you gon be old one day. You're not offending anyone. see now, u gotta react to Blur "song 2". same singer Damon Albarn who created Gorillaz. you will know the song, definitely :) Blur was/is a 90s british indie music group, quite big. he then created Gorillaz, he sings on this one, and most of em, along with rappers he invites. more to it, but thats the basics. 🙂

Gorrilaz don't miss, they have so many great songs you could check out. The "group" is actually one guy, Damon Albarn, who sings and a bunch of different people that he works on each song with. I'd recommend listening to Dirty Harry or November Has Come next. Every one of their songs is completely different from the last one you heard.

This song is a mood, and yeah, the instrument does sound old, I see the that laughing stare at the camera knowing you mean most of the viewers are old too. The whole point of westerns is that they are old, set at the turn of the 20th century but lasting for a very short period of time. Clint Eastwood gets much of his fame, in particular for modern viewers for his roles with Sergio Leone's films. Indeed the introduction piece to this video clip is the theme song from the movie The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. Another commenter said melodica, and I'd believe that, it is a little too synthetic to be an actual harmonica.

The Lead Singer is called Damon Alburn. He fronted one of the biggest bands of the 90`s in England. They were called BLUR. Check out their tunes. Song 2 is a Banger.

The rapper on this is Del tha Funkee Homosapien (Ice Cube's cousin), he's featured on a bunch of Gorillaz songs and he tends to rap "in character" as a ghost who is able to rap on tracks because he possesses Russell, the band's "drummer"

Speaking of Cartoon Network. Fun Fact: The Gorillaz share the same universe as the Power Puff Girls. The guy that does the drawings in the Gorillaz is close friends with the creator of the Power Puff Girls. The back cover album art for the Gorillaz B-Sides collection has Mojo JoJo on a t-shirt worn by one of the band members. Also, the leader of The Gangreen Gang joins the band way later down the line as a fill-in.

Saw them live at a dance festival here in the UK about 15 years ago. You never see the band - was a big white screen with silhouettes playing behind it live, and the cool visual animations either side. I'm assuming it was Damon and co there but you never know...

This band is I guess for me, what the classic rock bands were for my dad in the 70's when he was in high school. Love how they put a cartoon as the "face" of the band (kinda like daft punk) instead of your typical musicians who would be interviewed, oversaturated in the press. They let the songs (talent) speak for itself. Another reason for the digital band, they constantly change musicians and do so many collaborations that it's just "easier" to be able to "plug" people into the group depending on the album style. The only constant in "Gorillaz" throughout their many years is their creators (main singer/ songwriter and the guy who created the look/style of the cartoon characters and does all the artwork)

Yeah, it's supposed to sound like the old Westerns--that's why it's called Clint Eastwood (who acted in a lot of those early in his career). That's the sound you'd hear in those old Western movies (different instrument though).

Pretty sure Youre spot on with the harmonica reference. Ennio Morricone who was a legendary composer made tons of music for spaghetti westerns among them ”man with harmonica” and Clint Eastwood starred in a bunch of those movies and could be referred to as the harmonica man.

An older vid to make a comment on, but prefer to watch reactions in order from when you listened to them. Loved her reaction (sorry, don't know her name). The longer the song went on without and interruption her smile just got bigger. Then you would to stop to give some feedback or to try to help stop copyright then she would go back to stoic self. After another minute or so the smile would just become much bigger. You guys are awesome, keep up the good work.

Jamie Hewlett is the animator and created the the band members. Damon Alban is the man behind the music, writes and produces with guest additional vocals. The two of them are very much the driving force behind the band and have actually aged up the characters of the length of the bands career. Also more than likely a melodica you’re hearing on this, a heinous instrument that blown like a recorder, but has keys 🎹 on it. New order also feature it on a lot of their early recordings ✌️

The "band" is virtually animated; Murdoc, 2-D, Noodles, and Russel are the band, which is really Damon Albarn(Blur) and Jamie Hewlitt(animator/Tank Girl) with a rotation of other musicians and collaborators. There's an order to all the videos as the animation grows the band since 2001 and tells the entire story.

Do the Danish National Orchestra's "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly." It is fantastic and will provide context to this song. "The Good, the Bad and the Ugly" is a Clint Eastwood western and a classic, but the Orchestra plays the theme that Gorillaz do to honor the composer and the movie.

The best way to think of this band is by the fictional members, it gives it this sense of story- with each video being done kinda of episode of their life. And also, I guess it's the 'correct' way to view it? Since, technically, the singer is 2D, the drummer is Russel, the guitarist is Noodle, and the bassist is Murdoc. I'd give the lore summaries a reaction, too, if you wanna get into the storyline along with the music :) it makes the videos cooler to see in order. Also makes connections between certain videos more exciting.
