Not just the acoustic version of the song got bored with that version years ago I like listening listening to patience live in Tokyo 92 probably the best sounding song that they did that night his voice was off that night but he did good job on this one

This is my favorite GNR song. Between his vocals and Slash's solo - it's just incredible. It's too bad you didn't do the video. It's quite the visual to go with the song. You should check it out on your own time. If you want more GNR ballads - you must do Patience and November Rain. Hugs from Canada

Believe it or not, this is one of the first songs GnR wrote. It didn't make appetite but they always played it. The higher voice you hear is Axl's friend and lead singe of Blind Melon , Shannon Hoon..RIP

Damn really? Did not know it was Shannon Hoon. Been fan of Guns n’ Roses since 1988. Obviously Blind Melon made it big in mid 90’s that’s why I know of them. Did not know Shannon was friends with Axl’s. Omg just read Shannon passed away young age of only 28 in 1995! 😲

I read an article on an Axle rose interview, and he said "Don't Cry" was the first song ever written by guns n roses.

It is written from the girl perspective you are right. Izzy the guitarist dated this girl but Axl loved her too. She and Izzy broke up, but she told Axl that they can’t be together too. So Axl heartbroken wrote this song, based on the words she told him “Don’t Cry”.

Love GNR. 53 years young, black chick. Remember them from back in the day. Love me some Slash. They have strong beats with rock music. Traci and Roberta (2 black chicks doing backup vocals) were highly sought after by rock groups back in the day. Crazy good drummer, talented group.

Their ballads are just as potent as their other songs. You can not say that about many rock bands with a lot of other bands it’s either one or the other. That is Slash on the electric guitar, one of the best guitarists ever.

You guys have heard me praise this band since like the beginning. They are one of those bands where you either just dip a toe in or you spend the rest of your life underwater trying to understand. I have been underwater since I was 13. I really hope you guys check out some of the deep cuts. Locomotive, bad obsession, Dust n bones, and they're cover of Hair of the Dog. The more I listen to them over the years the more I don't understand how axle understands me more than I understand myself. They are the best of the best in the genre of music and I will die on that Hill. Musically, lyrically and axles vocal range is all spectacular. I hope you guys see me somewhere underwater.

Those BEAUTIFUL harmonies you hear in the background are from the late great Shannon Hoon from the band Blind Melon. His voice was so perfect with Axls voice. Shannon is in the original video for Dont Cry. Beautiful song.

Always felt the Illusion II version of this song had better lyrics. And Axl’s singing in the last verse is powerful. Check it out. Also, Blind Mellon has their career jump started by this song. Shannon Hoon on backup!

The higher pitched voice you hear throughout the song is Axl's friend from a little band called Blind Melon. That's Shannon Hoon! I'm sure you're familiar with their biggest hit, "No Rain". He was from the same hometown as Axl. They were friends and he was invited to record vocals on a few songs and even invited live on stage with Guns N' Roses to perform this song.

The guitar intro from Izzy is maybe the most overlooked part of this song. For me, it's crucial. Draws you right in before anything else happens, whereas some intros lose your interest before getting to the good stuff.

You guy’s nailed it👏🏼..Axl’s vocal tone combined with Slash’s slow/dark guitar in the beginning and then the crazy kinda wailing solo towards the end go right along with the increased emotion/intensity..def.bring’s out a haunting feeling or a feeling of losing control and maybe danger coming..track def.sticks with you..my all-time favorite’s to this day that I think you guy’s will really like as well are “Mr Brownstone” and “Better”..can’t miss with either one just regular studio or lyric videos doesn’t matter🔥🔥Ok love the channel guy’s👍🏼 keep up the good work and God bless🙏🏼

Such a great GnR song! Like many have said, part of a trilogy. This, November Rain and then Estranged (my personal favorite Gun’s song) which are all great. As far as GnR ballads you need to watch Patience. It’s an amazing song.

Ya you're right. It was from a woman's perspective. A girlfriend of Axl's told him not to cry. It was the first song Guns N Roses wrote in 85, but didn't come out officially till 1991

I don't know if my wife is going to respect my wishes or not cuz I won't be around to find out but I have said for a long time that I want this song played at my funeral. It probably has a different meaning to Axl Rose who wrote the lyrics then what it does mean but I think that's the same way with a lot of songs you come up with what it means to you.

Many reactors, especially non '80s babies, have created content by watching Blind Melon's "No Rain" before GnR's "Don't Cry", but it is not the MTV music videos era anymore so "Don't Cry" reactors do not pick up on Shannon's distinct singing voice, RIP Shannon Hoon.

At this time, when this hit on the Use Your Illusion albums Slash was still the main guitarist and Gilbey Clark(e?) was rhythm guitar. I think when the albums were getting put together/original composition it was most likely Izzy Stradlin on rhythm... he left the band before the albums released.

This, November Rain, and Estranged are a trilogy of music videos. Very expensive videos. There's some dark imagery in this video that gives it a different vibe than just listening and reading the lyrics.

All rock/metal/glam rock bands have at least 1 (usually like 2 or 3) softer or slow songs on an album. Groups like Skid Row, Def Leopard, Warrent & Poison. Also groups that weren't so much hair/glam rock but def metal like Metallica, Aerosmith, & Alice in Chains...just to name a few. They all have at least a couple slower songs. If you liked this you should check out "Patience" by GNR

If you guys ever listen to avenged sevenfold, you can hear the influence these guys had on them. They do that “yeah-ee-yeah” axle rose nasally whine thing. And they harmonize like them. I love it. Alice In Chains has a sound like that too.

Saw this tour and aside from Axel's constant rantings between songs it was an over the top show. This is a great song off the Use Your Illusion 1. I like this version better than the second one.These guys were like the second coming of AEROSMITH and Slash is a phenomenal guitarist unrivaled in his style.This gigantic tour was to be the demise of G'N'R. Axel' huge song writing talent, massive ego and mental health issues were both a curse and a blessing to the band that burned the candle too fast from both ends.🤘🎸🥁🎤🔊
