Funny thing is... This is THE FINAL BOSS THEME. Gwyn is the Lord of Cinder, the man who sacrificed his own humanity to give the rest of the people the hope to see light on the world forever, but in his ignorance, he just doomed himself into eternal suffering, burning himself forever, and making his own people to get stuck into a somber world where people dies but can't rest, instead, the come back, over, and over, and over again, falling in an infinite loop of suffering, where everyone, in their complete despair slowly become hollows... They become the Undead. Gwyn won't let the Fire fade, he doesn't want the world to be dark again, and so you, the Chosen Undead, must free Gwyn and his world from suffering this pain. When you enter the room where he is, you find the sad truth... the old God who once ruled over the world, making it a glorious kingdom of prosperity, now lies hidden inside a ruin where he won't let this dying little fire to fade away, you just find out what remains of this King... just a husk, empty, burnt, weak.

Btw, this game series is heavily inspired by Berserk, the creator/writer is a huge Berserk nerd, so there are a few references here and there.

So, this song plays during the last boss of the game. It is extremely fitting for this boss, because it is incredibly sad what happened to Gwyn, he was practically a God long before the events of the game. Long ago the first flame began to fade, and with the dying of the flame, so too would end the current age. To try and prevent this, when other attempts failed, he used himself as fuel to keep the flame going just a bit longer, at this point there really isn't much left of him.

Dark Souls, a master-class in "less is more". It's a serious very inspired by Berserk, they wear that on their sleeve. This is how the battle plays out, nothing like you expect. The end credit song for this game is also pretty emotional, it's called "Nameless Song".

Dark souls isn't really about "just fighting and fighting", I'd honestly say it's more about exploring and experiencing the dark world it's set in. Sure, there's a lot of bosses, and a lot of people do play for the combat and pvp, but honestly I think the greatest part of the games is just exploring new locations and learning the stories of different npcs and bosses. The world and lore of dark souls is honestly pretty depressing. This song is a good example of that, because this is the theme of the FINAL BOSS OF THE GAME. Just think about that for a second. You're fighting a GOD and, instead of some epic or terrifying "He is going to just absolutely obliterate me" sounding theme, you hear this.

Hidetaka Miyazaki, the creator of Dark Souls is a huge fan of Berserk. Many of the characters from Berserk Universe inspired some of the NPCs, regular enemies, and bosses in the Dark Souls series. Dark Souls 1 has an incredible story. For a lot of people playing this, the story just flies over their heads because the story is not told in the usual manner we hear or experience a story. They don't hold your hand and explain everything there is to know about what's going on in the world. You just have to piece it together talking with numerous NPCs spreading across the world. (I am not talking about the other Dark Souls because Gwyn is basically from the first Dark Soul, although .....nvm don't wanna spoil it.) If any of the dark soul type games I would recommend you play I would say try Elden Ring. Despite people all over the internet complaining about it being super hard (Trust me, if they played all From Software games they would agree Elden Ring being the easiest among them), I would say it's the easiest Dark Souls/Soulsborne game.

Gwyn, Lord of Cinder is actually a boss theme. Motoi Sakuraba just recently stated in an interview for Star Ocean The Second Story R regarding his compositions for video games that he likes seeing the footages and working from there. I'm pretty sure this is also how he composed for Dark Souls. If you see footage of the fight, you immediately know why this piano is so somber and sad. It also reminds me alot of the Music box version of Renas theme. For another recommendation I'd like to again say "Great Power" from Trails of Cold Steel 1

Just as a meta thing, Dark souls as a game doesn't have many ambient osts, almost any time you hear music in the game something is happening. The fact that this is the final boss's song, the context of the whole game, and the entire area leading up plays into it. That plin plin plon is inherently tied to seeing this guy, someone that's been built up since the intro cutsceen. Its one of those things that you just kinda need to experience first hand, since a big part of the feels is the fact that its been you on this quest coming into this moment. Also while dark souls can be rough, it has alot of aspects that can make the journey alot more easy to bear (infact said final boss is infamously weak to a tactic that can't be used on any of the other bosses).

*Day 182* of recommending the *Beyblade openings* . There are the Japanese ones and the English ones. The English version has one opening for a generation, and that for the 1st and 2nd generation. The 3rd gen has one op for one season. But the Japanese version has multiple ops for a season in any gen. You should definitely check both versions out. I made playlists on my channel, so you don't need to search, cause in those compilations are a few off and not in the correct order. Thanks for checking out!

Plin plin plon will always make me cry. No spoiler comment: First time I heard this theme, it took me off guard. The context and the knowledge you have so far of the game and how it plays is shattered to pieces. If you don't plan to play the game, watch an entire playthrough, without comment, so you can listen to the music and sound without breaking immersion. Then do the same with Dark Souls 3, which is directly connected with what happens the moment this theme plays, and which will also shatter expectations. But you should play at least Dark Souls Remastered, it's hard but it's not as hard. You don't need to be a hardcore player to play and finish the game, and there are many ways to make it easier, like summoning NPCs or other players to help you beat most of the bosses, and there are weapons and armor and accesories that further improve your chances. There's a reason DaeknSouls was awarded best game of all history and why people keep playing it and making tons of videos about it. Not Demon's Souls, no Dark Souls 2 or 3 not Sekiro, not Bloodborne, not even Elden Ring. Everything and everyone go back to Dark Souls 1.

Trying to not spoil anything. This song represent Dark Souls' final Boss, Gwynn, the Lord of Cinder, and you, the player. The song itself is very simple, but the key detail is that there are two pianos playing, one, constantly increasing in notes to represent the progress of the character through the game, and the second, always stuck on the same note, to represent Gwyn, and how He did everything possible to not let his Era end.

This ost is so special, the moment is very hard hitting. Like you said its not a fight its the end. All game you fight bigger and stronger enemies, overcoming impossible odds. But here at the kilm of the first flame is a tired old shrivled up husk of the king, giving his entire being to keep the flame going. Its an intense fight but nothing like the other more energetic bombastic fights before it. And unlike every other boss in dark souls 1, this is also the only boss you could parry attacks like regular enemies could be parried. It doesnt feel like beating thr final challenge, and more outting to rest something that shouldve been done eons ago. As for playing the game, its only a rage game if you forget this important lesson; death is a learning tool not failure , it teaches you what you did wrong. So do not fear dying over and over and over but take each death as a moment to brcome better than before and learn your enemies and terrain. That is the proper way to approach a souls game.

Such a tragic song for a tragic boss who just wanted to help the world only to find that his efforts didn't amount to anything. Compared to all the other grand, bombastic tracks that define Dark Souls boss fights, this one is all about the futility of destiny and the cyclical nature of life. Praise the plin plin plon, and praise the sun!

Darks Souls' combat is very methodical. It's not about high octane combat, but more tense and deliberate. Besides that, most of the game is about exploration up until you reach the boss blocking your path forward where you need to learn their moveset through trial and error until you make it through. Any difficulty is a combination of how willing you are to use the tools given to you and the patience needed to keep learning and pushing through.

Gwyn, welsh for white. He enacted an Age of Light and an Age of Fire, in fear of the coming Age of Dark of man. His song plays with only the white keys. His song is his legacy, his struggle, his seemingly nobility, or depending on the light you see him in his fading memory or last grips of his ages he set in motion to great expense. Souls characters are told in their actions and told in their songs. And some are told better through others. Soulsborne tell the stories by a more careful attention and awareness, sophisticated, but also room to let the imagination wander. In their worlds to unlock, explore, and conquer, the player might even become remorseful as they make realizations.

Gwyn, who Rose from nothing to claim the soul of a lord, to take the power of a god and forge the world as he saw fit. Lord of sunlight, toppler of the Ancient Dragons. When faced with the inevitable end of all he'd built, the immutable march of time and the passing of the torch, he was so terrified of the concept of an end to his age of fire that he railed against fate, against nature. Stoopping to any and all means to prolong his creation, until at last he fed himself to the First Flame, and that's where you find him, at the end of a long road, having heard of the legends of Lord Gwyn, and what you find is a husk. Empty of mind, of soul, of any awareness, save a blind, hopeless instinct to defend the First Flame's kiln. The man, the God, long gone, only his name remains, in an empty kingdom with no one to speak it, whether in reverence or disdain

I honestly can't say that this is one of my favourite OST or fight from Dark Souls, but it's indeed a very heavy scene to watch. (a little of spoiler here) Basically you are fighting the final boss, of course being Dark Souls you would expect a beast or a magical being that would destroy you, but no, you are literally fighting a walking corpse, the corpse of Lord Gwyn, the king of the land that was powerfull enough to take down dragons, which were immortal beings, and yet there is nothing of him left, just a walking corpse with a flaming sword (that will cut you in half of course) that is just able to throw so little swings. There are a lot of incredible themes and scenary in the saga, for example "Majula" which is hands down the MOST beautiful place you are going to find in any Souls game, and of course the bosses themes like Sister Friede, Vordt, Sullyvahn. And of course the song remembers you of Berserk, after all the Souls games are literally "gamefications" of Berserk.

This is one of the best examples of music storytelling inside an OST I have seen in a while, for those of you who are curious about what is behind the composition I recommend "Los secretos de la musica de Dark Souls" by Jaime Altozano at 12:45, it has English subtitles and is an excelent explanation of how the music merges perfectly with what is happening in the game.

This is a boss battle song, the final boss battle song, you a hollow you're less than nothing and even so you are in the last area against the last boss, Gwyn Lord of Cinder, he was the Lord of the Sun, but now like you he's a hollow, nothing of his best times remains, he is just protectin the last flame and you have to defeat him no matter what will you chose, it's dark cause the darkness is coming so you are just two hollow fighting for glory, pace, a legend, no one will know what happen that day

The end is the right way to put it, as the hero comes to the end of his harrowing journey having lost many friends and overcome countless horrors we are meet by what was once known as the paragon of light, the harbringer of an era of sunlight now nothing but and empty hollowed out husk of what he once was, to call him a shadow would do him a disservice to look down on him as a hollow would be an insult at best for this is a god that gave everything he was to extend his era of sunlight just a bit longer, yes many died for this and many more because of it and oh so many more will continue to die for it yet that is neither here nor there nor is it now or later in this moment there is only a proud warrior before us resisting against the possible end of his time and us who have come bearing an end of sorts or perhaps an extension of our own. The act is satisfying yes hell it may just be cathartic even, yet painful it remains but do it we must.

Obligatory First! I've never been this early for a video. Also, I was told by some friends, and also thought the same, that I shouldn't play Dark Soul because of how frustrating it could be. Recently though, I've been playing Elden Ring with a friend and it's been really fun! I'm not sure if having a friend with me is part of it but instead of being frustrated at dying so much, it's just been a challenging and enjoyable experience so far.

Gwyn's theme is meant to signify an ending of sorts. To elaborate on the specific context is difficult, but suffice to say that regardless of your choice following this it isn't something glorious or grandiose. I feel like the sombre tone in this piece is meant to express that what is to come and what is isn't so different, but another dark chapter to come. This piece is also similar to a LoZ track called Song of Healing from Majora's Mask which is a game that explores a similar set of themes to Dark Souls. As for a recommendation Abyss Watchers from DS3 is one of my favorite in the series,

I highly recommend other dark souls songs, as well as armored core 6's music (both are made by the same studio). Rusted Pride, contact with you, and the man who passed the torch are some of my favorite songs ever. Especially cthulhuseekers remix's of them, which have actually surpassed the originals in terms of views on youtube.

First of all : Dark Souls OST are known to be epic, very epic ! But this is last boss ost (yes it's a freakin' BOSS THEME, not credit song XD) and the ost is sad. Why ? Because at this point in the game you know that whaterver you did, it will end badly. Souls game are are sad, dark and melancholic. And now that you've listen to this, you really should listen to "soul of cinder" theme, you'll understand why this one precisely when you'll listen to it (tho you should simply react to more Souls game ost in general, they're amazing !)
