I told my friends/co-workers that "I Write Sins, Not Tragedies" by Panic At the Disco is one of the best white boy songs I've ever heard. Now they're sending me song suggestions and I'm doing live reactions here, on the Trying White Music series lmao

If you really wanna stay in the theme of “white” music you should definitely try The White Stripes “Icky thump”. Given your love of rage, I’m pretty sure you would love that song. There is also an Indy band literally called The Whitest Boy Alive with “Burning” being their most popular song, but no one would watch that reaction cuz they aren’t well known.

I heard their song "Plug In Baby" from a REALLY old video, like pre-youtube, and I couldn't remember the lyrics but the song and singer were so unique that I kept thinking about it and wondered who they were for like 5 years. Then one day I finally heard their song "Knights of Cydonia" on the radio and I was like," IT'S THEM! THAT'S THE SINGER!" and proceeded to listen to nothing but their discography for 6 months. Absolutely brilliant band. Their first four albums are basically full of bangers.

The first time they had a 3 section stage in the middle of the stadium and sheer sheets hanging down. Projectors made it look like they were marionette puppets being controlled to play. They second time a massive dragon slowly appeared from the back of the stage and started blowing fire over the crowd. Awesome stuff

The whole “white music” idea needs to die in my opinion . Rock n roll was literally invented by black Americans (all modern music can basically trace itself to the roots of blues, jazz, and rock from black Americans in the lay 19th century to the early 20th century) and as a fellow black guy that grew up loving all different types of music and that plays two instruments it always bothered me that I was only supposed to be into three contemporary types of music. The history of contemporary music is so intrinsically tied to black Americans and we have allowed decades of assholes to convince us otherwise. Matt the lead singer of muse has even said that prince, Jimmy Hendrix and Tom morello (three black American men) are his biggest influences . Although over the last decade or so we are seeing way more bruthas embrace ther inner rocker publicly which has been amazing to witness.

@@mookiestewart3776 I don’t disagree with you. I’m a drummer and without the influence and sound vision from the greats like Elvin Jones, Art Blakey, Clyde Stubblefield, Benny Benjamin, Jabo Starks, Roy Haynes, Max Roach, Kenny Clarke (just to name a few), we wouldn’t have “white music.” I can appreciate your frustration over the term but can also understand the tongue-in-cheek description of the tunes he’s been trying out. I’m sure he’s aware of the brilliant history and influence of the black musicians that made any of it possible.

"Butterflies and Hurricanes" from the same album has similar "anime fight song" energy, but it's much more understated and instrumental. I think Hysteria is one of the two most well known songs from it, the other one that got a lot of air time was "Time is Running Out". The other songs that are closer to rock on the album are "Thoughts of a Dying Atheist" and "The Small Print", but "Endlessly", "Sing for Absolution" and "Falling Away with You" are all also really good songs. Absolution is just a solid album overall. I think "Black Holes and Revelations" and "The Resistance" are also really good, but people can fight over that.

Muse is solid when looking for a change of pace from the heavier stuff. Can’t go wrong with the following: Dead Inside Uprising Panic Station Supermassive Black Hole

I used to turn to music to get me through everything, but I’ve stopped listening for a while… this series of videos and your enthusiasm for the music has reminded me why I used to turn to it. I’m going home, thanks my dude

Welcome back I’d recommend some of my other favorites but not sure if you will ever have the time. Orgy- Blue Monday Covenant- Afterhours is a beautiful and lovely song for relaxing and crushing on the high line but that might make it more niche. It’s just my getting people to listen to Covenant intro song, it’s not like I started with Beborn Beton, or Juno Reactor, Ehehehe

Muse Muse Muse! A great live band with diverse catalogue and highly talentend members. And I just love how each of them stands out on stage. If you only listen to a particular sound in music, you'll only stuck on their one or two albums. Muse love getting out of their comfort zone. They dgaf if people will hate them for that lol!

@RobTV Funny you should mention this would be a good fight scene since their first mainstream exposure came from their song "Supermassive Black Hole" on the Twilight movie. This is definitely a feel good tune...great for a workout.

White Stripes is absolutely a band, so you probably saw them. Yes, the guy sings and plays guitar too! If you haven't already you should give them a listen and see if it rings any bells. I love both bands. First time hearing you; cool reaction video. Have fun!

Loving your "trying white music" series. I get a kick seeing you react to songs I basically grew up with, whether you like them or not. One band I'd like to see you react to is one of my favorite bands Manic Street Preachers. Nobody ever reacts to them cause they're fairly unknown in North America. If you see this, can you please react to "Faster" by Manic Street Preachers.

Dude, I love your reactions to music that I've been jamming for years. You seem to have impeccable taste in music. I make my wife watch all your videos when you put a new one out. If you haven't listened to Deftones, that would be a good one for sure. Keep it up dude.

I know you normally dont react to music from the 70s but More Than a Feeling by Boston is an amazing song. The whole first album is fire and has a pretty cool backstory. Would love to see you react to that! Love your videos man.

I really do like Muse. And as far as your “movie” comment, it seemed like Muse was on every Twilight movie soundtrack lol. Anyway it actually worked well plus just the appreciation of their music to put them on the soundtracks is cool. Take a look at “Uprising” (maybe top 3 in popularity by them). And “Knights of Cydonia” wheewwww. That almost seems like a mini movie to me. I think you’ll love them both! Stay blessed. Thanks for your content!

Anything from Muse at Rome Olympic Stadium is absolutely worth checking out! But, if you say the singer at this concert had a light-up jacket, then something live Simulation Theory(2019) tour or the Drones(2016) World Tour might trigger your memory. I would try first, if you can find it, a video of The Handler (by Muse) from Drones World Tour. Not only is that a killer song but his jacket is in full effect for that song. That is a core memory for me, watching The Handler from Drones World Tour.

I grew up with Muse! They’re known for taking inspiration from classical music, with some sick piano solos or just playing it on guitar. Been loving these videos, most of these songs are a big part of what I grew up on.

Bro!! Love Muse. They were my favorite band for like a decade, grew up listening to Black Holes & Revelations and Origins of Symmetry. Often their new stuff is meh, but man their original sound and how it still can ring through is impeccable. Bellamy for Prez!

If you read this, you'll recognize Knights of Cydonia and Uprising immediately (stadium favorites, used across multiple movie tracks, etc). My favorites are from their first few albums: City of Delusion, Thoughts of a Dying Atheist, The Small Print, Sing for Absolution, Plug in Baby. Great stuff from more recent albums would be I Belong to You, Supremacy and Panic Station. Happy listening!

They just released the 20th Anniversary edition of the album this song was released on, Absolution. Love them. First heard them in 2006 and saw them in 2007. Muse puts on one of the greatest live shows today. They sound fantastic live. Edit: Knights of Cydonia is my favorite. My favorite music video though is Pressure, cuz it's got Terry Crews fighting zombie-hamster things.😂
