"Me & Bobby McGee" is my favorite song by Janis Joplin. It was written by Kris Kristofferson. Janis was a one of a kind singer with a unique voice. Sadly we lost her too soon. She was only 27 when she died. She had a lot of great songs such as "Cry Baby", "Down On Me", "Maybe", "Ball & Chain", "Summertime", "Little Girl Blue", "Try (Just A Little Bit Harder)", "Get It While You Can", "Bye, Bye Baby", "Move Over", "Mercedes Benz" etc.

A must do live is Ball and Chain, live at the Monterey Pop Festival, 1967. This is where she took off and finally " discovered". Enjoy the ride and rabbit hole. Sadly she died at only 27. She's a member of what we call the "27 Club" along with Jimi Hendrix and many others whom died at age 27. Here's the link, kzfaq.info/get/bejne/jpeqedGqqsuXnnk.html

Yeah. Janis is amazing. Another song, this time from the 60s, with very meaningful lyrics, imo , is The Yardbirds, and Mister Youre a Better Man Than I"

My all time favourite singer .. Janis feels every word, every note. Her passion and commitment at telling the story is incredible. This song is a softer Janis. Please check out Summertime, live. Link below. This song is originally from the musical Porgy and Bess. I sing it at choir practice. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/mNRlh7Giz9usmYk.html

I love her gritty voice. Pink does a great cover of this, too. And Courtney Hadwin sang a Janis Joplin song on America's Got Talent. She really knocked it out of the park - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/sN6VZq6prb3Nm4E.html

Kris Kristofferson is supposed to have said something like "Well the song is hers now," upon hearing this cover of his song. He is a very intelligent man who was once a military officer. His parents disowned him for becoming a Country-Western songwriter and performer. He was a member of The Highwaymen with Willie Nelson, Merle Haggard and The Man in Black.
