Jeff is a legend and criminally underrated as a guitarist. He's definitely one of the goats. Sadly, we lost Jeff several years ago to cancer. Quick background; Jeff learned to play guitar the traditional way as a child but found it more comfortable for him to play it on his lap instead. Thus, launching him into a category unmatched by any other musician. May he RIP.

Fun Fact I was 14 and used to go to a bar in Toronto and yes I got in I looked older and frankly I don't think they cared. But I saw Jeff there before he blew up and this man blew my mind to say the least. Thanks from Toronto brings me great memories of a great man. There's a video of Jeff with Stevie Ray Vaughn that's a must see but I can't remember the song for the life of me but maybe someone here can tell you. Peace out ✌️ ☮️

Night Music, the best music television show in history. Guests from every genre. And the collaborations on this show were great as here with Dr. John sitting in with Jeff Healey. Where else could you see Leonard Cohen with Was Not Was doing background vocals and Sonny Rollins on sax or The Residents on stage while Conway Twitty was singing?

Jeff Healey "AS THE YEARS GO PASSING BY" - Germany 1995 is a must to check out. Jeff is an Icon, a Legend!!! He was playing with his teeth, not his tongue. He was a master Jazz man too! He played trumpet. Check out some of his Jazz music, Jeff Healey and The Jazz Wizards, like "I WOULD DO ANYTHING FOR YOU" and "SWEET GEORGIA BROWN". Sadly, we lost Jeff at the young age of 41 to cancer in 2008. I miss him. I cannot imagine what else he would've accomplished if he were still with us. It would have been amazing to find out. I will cherish what he has left us with, such amazing music to enjoy and to share with future generations. RIP Jeff. ❤🎵

Have loved Jeff since discovering him decades ago. Due to a rare form of eye cancer, his eyes were surgically removed when he was only ONE YEAR OLD. Hence you see not only a difference in how he plays guitar, but also differences in his movements. Jeff never saw how other people moved, so the joy he experiences while singing/playing guitar may not look "cool". But, to me, I love seeing him expressing his joy. Sadly, like SRV and Gary Moore, Jeff also passed too soon. Jeff died at only 41 years of age, due to that rare form of eye cancer, which he had battled all his life.

Jeff had heritable retinoblastoma which even though treated at a young age, can come back later on in life. Jeff's came back to effect his lungs. I sadly know a little too much about this cancer as my young granddaughter has it.

As a blind guitar player myself, I greatly look up to Jeff Healey. FYI, playing on your lap isn’t necessarily harder. In fact, it was easier for him. He tried playing it the conventional way, but he preferred it on his lap, even though I think he can play it the conventional way. also, most, if not all, stringed instruments used to be played on the lap. As showmanship became more popular with guitar, people started playing it, “hanging from their neck.“ 😊
