Kansas was a band that concentrated on two things: telling a story with the lyrics and making art with the music notes 🎵 They were a truly unique band.
@kennethgoin628
@kennethgoin628 2 жыл бұрын
Don't know what kind of music you're into, but in the 80's, a metal band called Savatage took the same ideal into their music. Their albums included a lot of storytelling and classical construction. "Hall of the Mountain King" and "Gutter Ballet" are two album projects chock full of tasty licks and rhythms, blending a hard drum beat with soaring guitar work and piano. They were amazing! So much so, that their music influenced the founder of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra and the founder of Savatage, Jon Oliva, became a member of the Trans-Siberian Orchestra because of that influence and collaboration.

@@thatmanxguy I'm certain you'll find something you like, if you like a rock/classical mix. If you find yourself enjoying their creations, there's a rockumentary of sorts about the band here on KZfaq. It was very well done and tells the whole story. I still wish that Jon's brother Chris (cofounder of Savatage) could have been spared his motorcycle crash. He died in 1993, so anything after "Edge of Thorns is old studio tracks or stand-in guitarists. It was on 1995's "Dead Winter Dead" album that Savatage recorded "Christmas Eve/Sarajevo 12/24" Of course, Trans-Siberian redid it in 1998 and now the whole world knows the song, but with Jon's presence, they still used Chris's set up to produce his sound in the song. I remember hearing it on the radio for the first time, and thinking it was pretty cool, and then it hit me... I knew that guitar! I knew that sound! That signature tone! So I had to go digging into it because, well... knowing of Chris' death, I'm like... "how'd he get on this recording?" Okay... I'm rambling... but they were under promoted, under exposed, and in my humble opinion, one of the most talented metal bands to ever assemble. They hail from Tampa, FL.

I love y’alls reviews! Lex’s reactions are so authentic with rich interpretation. She gets to the essence of the music and her voice is do beautiful. I love Brad’s concentration when a song from back in the day gets to the good part. Your concentration and bouncing to the beat just kicks up the beats. I’m not good at putting things into words but I really like these songs even better when I see twos reaction to them the first time you hear them. Keep up the good work. You are doing a great service to us fans and the bands that you review.

As someone who grew up listening to these songs when they were new, it does my soul good to see the younger generation sample the music from my generation. There were so many talented musicians back then and it was nothing for a song to last 15 minutes or more. Other artists like Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Peter Frampton, Steve Miller Band, and many more.
