Zeppelin were masters of mixing the melodies so it was faster or slower than the actual speed it was supposed to be. It made their music unique and one of a kind.

Its really to bad I can't take you back in time to the 176 Led Zeppelin concerts I attended from '70 to '77. The greatest rock band. Black Dog actually has 3 different time signatures. Cool, huh? And James always played us a different guitar solo each time. As he did with most of their songs, all worked out as it played on the fly. Loved seeing the look on your face as the song ended. Years ago Led Zeppelin performed in Oklahoma City. The opening act canceled at the last moment, so the promoter reached out to a local band called Mountain Smoke. They were country/blue grass band. One of the members was Vince Gill. Needless to say the fans were less than pleased. They started to through beer bottles and chased them off stage.

LZ is one of the top three rock bands of all time. If you want to say they're the best, I won't argue. I love 'em and have since track one,side one of album one. Stairway to Heaven is their magnus opus and is a beautiful song but I love watching Heart's tribute cover live at The Kennedy Center Honors. it's a magnificent performance and does justice to the song.

Led Zeppelin was extremely powerful. Black Dog and Rock and Roll are perfect examples of that power. Physically as well as visually and audibly. Incredible energy as well as sound. When I first watched this concert nearly fifty years ago, I was struck by the band's physicality. They reminded me of great athletes. They had to be absolutely exhausted by the end of each concert, Page and Bonham especially. To use a football reference, Plant was like a star quarterback, Bonham a rush defensive end or middle linebacker (Dick Butkis!), Page like a Primadona wide receiver, and Jones the always dependable never miss clutch field goal kicker.

Brilliant Diane! Yes John Bonham always sounded like he was playing "late". It clearly was calculated, he meant to do that, and it gives an interesting dynamic to Led Zeppelin's music and why he is on most surveys the number one or number two drummer in the world (between him and Neil Peart of Rush)

Churchill described his bouts of deep depression as having the Black Dog. His Cabinet Ministers and staff knew to not annoy him when suffering to avoid having their heads chewed off.

@@LindaC616 It was one of his black dog episodes that prevented his attendance at the Treaty of Rome signing and Britain becoming a founder member of the EEC, this turned his then friend De Gaulle against Britain. The Treaty was flown to London for signing, due to adverse weather it didn't make it back before the deadline, planes had to fly through the Alps then not over, it might have made it by road or via Gibraltar. France continued to oppose the UK's entry until the 70's.

Best rock group of all time in my opinion. You have a good ear! I always struggled playing this song on my guitar when I was young. The guitar does sound off but somehow resolves itself later as it goes along.

My Mom was a huge Led Zeppelin fan when I was growing up, so I heard them constantly. I always preferred much heavier metal...... But luckily as I got older, I really learned to appreciate them and many other bands I never cared too much for when I was younger. As always, terrific reaction Diane!

One of Led Zeppelin's influences was the Delta Blues singer and guitarist Robert Johnson. Their cover of his song, "Travelling Riverside Blues," is nothing short of incredible. Johnson never achieved success during his short life. He is a member of the Twenty-Seven Club. But the handful of recordings he left behind earned him the title, King of the Delta Blues. Legend says Johnson went to a crossroad at midnight to meet with the devil. A deal was struck giving Johnson mastery of the guitar in exchange for his immortal soul, or so the story goes.

Many consider him the best rock drummer EVER!!!! John died young. I wonder how much that had to with his rise to fame. Don't misunderstand me the man is good drummer. Really GOOD!!!!

You're right ! Led Zeppelin is famous for shifts in rhythms. The regretted John Bonham was also regularly changing tempo during songs, following the lead instrument or the base, depending on... God knows why... This is what makes it so special and unique.

Jimmy Page was so good, By the age of 15 he was being used as a studio musician for other artists.. he was just a prodigy player as a kid it came to him effortlessly ..and by accident, as a kid, The home his father moved the family into, it just happened to have an acoustic guitar hanging on the wall.. so his father pulled it down and strung it up and the rest as they say.. is History.

I remember going to see the J.Giles Band back in the early 1980's. Their opening act was an unknown Irish group that called themselves U2. The Irish lead singer was great, but he had a strange stage name as well. I think it was something like "Bono" ?

In which Ann Wilson (vocals) and Nancy Wilson of Heart lead the band’s biggest hit “Stairway to Heaven” along with Jason Bonham in drums (who looks so much like his dad) and a gigantic chorus and orchestra. It’s an epic moment in rock history that feels like a passing of the torch to the next generation and which the emotional reaction of the living members of the group is amazing to see. Speaking of Heart, their massive hit “Barracuda” is amazing and I’m sure you’ll LOVE IT!

"Black Dog" is what Winston Churchill called his occasional bouts of depression. Not sure if he coined the phrase or not. My first concert was Led Zeppelin at Western Springs Speedway in Auckland New Zealand. That was 1972, the tickets were a 21st birthday present from my brother. Led Zeppelin were perfect for live performance, outdoors. I've seen photos of that concert and the people in the audience are a fair old case for saying the summer of love lasted from 1967 until 1972, at least. So much hair, both men and women. The men almost all snake hipped and shouldered in slinking jeans. When did the fad for having muscles start? Fifty years ago women liked 'em lean.

"Shredding" nice use of vocabulary Ms Jennings; full points. To truly get a feel of the drummer's energy "Moby Dick" is a must. Led Zeppelin has so many great songs. I hope you react to more of them. You have to love the randomness of how they got the title to this one. Thanks Diane

There was a frisky old black dog hanging around when they were recording. After a day of galavanting, the old dog needed help getting home. The band helped him home. I think they related to his antics :)

Sadly, the drummer, John Bonham has passed away, but his son has been filling in for him. In honor of international Women’s Month you might want to play and comment on the Led Zepplin Kennedy Center Honors

I had the opportunity to see Heart and the John Bonham Band appearing together. The matchup was perfect.

Yeah, Jason Bonham has played with the band several times. It was after John Bonham died that the band suddenly and unexpectedly broke up. They just felt they could not go on without him and that Led Zeppelin would not be Led Zeppelin without "Bonzo" They of course have reunited many times since and used various drummers including Phil Collins who played the drums for them during Live Aid.

@@nataliestclair6176 in interviews they each have said, if any member quit or unfortunately passed like Bonham, they knew the band was over. They each had a quarter say etc. in the band, they were all equal. For Live Aid, Phil Collins & another guy played drums, two to make up for Bonzo. The other guy didn’t know the songs, & screwed things up, Phil Collins picked the other drummer. Jason Bonham is the only one, who even comes close to playing like his dad. For Celebration Day, he learned all his dad’s parts in all the songs, he didn’t know what songs would be picked to play.

Several of their songs are done in different counts, that’s one of the things that made them the greatest ever. No two of their lives were ever played the same, but they were all in sync, with the changes. Page so often would add more to his guitar solos, & Plant often added lyrics from other song to the lives. I’m not sure what all you’ve reacted to, but any song you’d pick, will be amazing & often different. Since they do play so many different genres, & thank you for your reaction.

I bought this album, some time ago, after hearing Battle of Evermore from the album, played by Fluff (Alan Freeman, what a show pop pickers). Got home, put side 1 on & I guess my face looked similar to DJs, I was thinking 'good job my folks are out'. Still have the album, still listening to Led Zep!

(I recently enjoyed your "Guesting" with Lawrence of "Lost in tha Pond") I'd agree, "Since [We've] Been Loving [Us]" from this same performance . . . is another LedZep GEM. Zeppelin could be a very, very deep rabbit hole for you to fall down🤘. The Wanton Song is another I think you would like a lot. A funky groove with John Bonham laying down some tasty drum licks. LZ was definitely one of my favorites as a kid, and sometimes I think I'm still a kid at heart. Another band I would recommend is Grand Funk Railroad, specifically the songs Paranoid from Grand Funk Live, or Inside Lookin' Out, live 1969. I first got into both LZ, and GFR in '69 or'70 because of my big brother.

I love the look on her face ..that’s the same look I had back in 1972 when I was 5 yrs old and heard Zeppelin for the first time! I’ve been addicted ever since .Zeppelin catalog of music is more then just Stairway to Heaven and Rock n Roll ..they have so many other hidden jams that lye between the popular songs .A true Zeppelin fan will get what I’m saying! I listen from side A flip the Lp and listen to side B ,,that is the Led Zeppelin experience any true fan enjoys! I’m glad to see younger generations opening up and enjoying real music that has inspired a lot of musicians today!

Perfect reaction, especially for your generation…..Zep had a unique rhythm…. The fact you’ve never experienced them is understandable. So glad you found them….I saw them in Chicago in 75…the last time they were in the states in their original iteration..Bonzo (drummer) died before their next US tour…he died like a rock star would. So now you need to listen to "In My Time of Dying" May 25th, 1975, in Earls Court. It will blow your mind. The name of the house the recorded in was Headly Grange, yes the song was named after the Black Dog that was hanging around.

I had un-paused the video after stopping to Google the definition of "prurient" and typing it out into my notepad, only to see you basically doing the same (which gave me a wee laugh). Great video. The band felt this was the hardest song to play live. Also...the audience participation is taken directly from the studio album wher Robert sings that part. Love your reactions and other content. Its fun to see "my" music (what I grew up with)through anothers eyes. ❤
