Led Zeppelin put on 3 to 4 hour long concerts, without taking a break. Bonham also did a 15 to 20 minute solo, called Moby Dick, I love the Madison Square Garden 1973 live version. They didn’t have other bands open or close for them. Led Zeppelin is the real deal, & each of the 4 are the GOAT of their craft, together they’re ROCK GODS.

I don't know if I'm fully following but what I'm taking from it is that, you're describing that even you who is a good dancer has to take a pause as these things abruptly change. And everybody knows we love a good transition but sometimes when you are masters of the space that you operate in, you can make jarring changes and just create a pause in the motion but being someone has played in bands that usually people are dancing to, I am keenly aware of every little thing can matter once you have people really engaged. I was astonished once everybody's into it, how you can just get this idea and try something a little different and then you can watch it Ripple through the Dance Floor the way people dance and also your bandmates react, and to me it's the love of that live performance and yet, if you have that, it shows up in the studio as well and Led Zeppelin is just a Premiere example of that.

Every rock band after Zeppelin came on the rock scene and changed the direction in style of music will go also change their style and followed Zeppelin! There's so many rock and metal bands that use Zeppelin style riffs and music even today's modern music is still influenced by Zeppelin! Led Zeppelin is timeless!

It's right at the point where you paused it after marveling at John Bonham's drumming. And I'll tell you what man, I like so many great musicians over all the decades and the latest stuff. But as much as I love Rush like a fanatic? And as much as I love Gene Krupa from the old days and as much as I love Bill Bruford from King Crimson and Yes, and as much as I love ... You know its endless. But when it all comes right down to it: Bonzo is the one for me. It's just masterful use of space but he just bashed the hell out of his drums with such power and authority, and yet he could do the most intricate stuff when he wanted to. And mostly he was able to respond in real time to events going on in that particular performance whether it was in the studio or live, and I've been lucky enough to know that in bands a couple times where I had a drummer that if I did something a little different on the guitar, in a live situation where everybody's dancing and everything and we're all going off, and I would just mix it up slightly from what we were used to before going full improv, but even those little subtle cues of that, it would take them about a bar or two to digest it and then he would have this playful echo back in his flow. And that kind of thing just reinforces how tight everybody is and it makes it fun. And you can see that all over the place with Led Zeppelin for sure.😮

You are still cracking me up man. Yeah sometimes they insert an extra 16th note or an eighth note in there which creates the sense of pausing.

This is a very old Gospel song from the deep south and its tune is probably used elsewhere, so you would have heard it in many places. To really enjoy this you should watch them perform this live at Knebworth. Its worth it just to watch Page play that guitar as fast as he does.

That's a great image of that drummer hitting his head on the ride cymbal. The thing to realize is that when a band is good and tight and the audience is into it almost anything goes. And it's just all playful but yeah man you can actually really hurt your head doing that, laugh. But I'm glad you keyed in on that and a whole bunch of other things actually.

Nope they never took a break during a concert & their concerts where 31/2 to 4 hours or longer maybe 3 or more nights in a row just song right into next song at least that is what i have come to understand from what people on here say & documentaries & watching their various concerts they have on here & such but i could be wrong i was 8 when i 1st starting listening to them so yea freakin mind blowing fantastical magical they are Genius best band EVER!!!

A GREAT choice to end an evening of music! One of their iconic songs no doubt. RUSH 2112 Ace...don't fight it, you'll love it. Also Black Sabbath has drumming that will stand out to you as well. Bill Ward was friends with John Bonham (Led Zeppelin drummer RIP) and both are heavy, legendary and JAZZ based. Great stuff

Perhaps my favorite Led Zep. Page is on fire playing slide here. Bonham hits hard here because the dude in the song is dying and hopes to make it to heaven. It is a cover. Can't remember by who but a black American bluesman. Led Zep didn't do many original tunes. They took a lot from the delta blues and made it their own. Meet me Jesus meet me. Ohh meet me in the middle of the air. If my wings should fail below, please meet me with another pair. Well, well well, so I can die easy. Jesus gonna make up my dying bed.

And its whats missing in todays set to a grid autotuned voices, with drum machines that never remotely sound like drums (you know actual sticks on skins) but instead dozens of dancers and backuo singers whirling around, guided by computer idiots running explosions, smoke bombs, lasers, colotrd lights, and acrobats flying all over. Regarding your comments about their stamina, you are just glimpsing the tip of the iceberg. If you couldn't throw down for a long time, you were in inferior band. I mean one of the epitomes to me is Leon wilkerson, the bass player for Lynyrd skynyrd, and those guys would sometimes play 3-hour shows going hard all the time, and any one of those songs would be so incredibly taxing But before the plane crash, they had reached that point where that's just what they did, human beings can do anything if they throw themselves into it and I do believe that's what makes a band great.
