My father was my real life hero. He was a hero, he was a highly decorated soldier, he received multiple awards. I looked at him as if he would always be here and nothing could ever take him away in my eyes he was there heroes that would always be here. In reality after he completed his mission here on Earth cancer took him away. I'm the only child and I have two kids. Everyday that goes by I miss him. And everyday I appreciate the man he raised me to be. It don't get easier you just learn how to make it better on yourself too deal with him being gone. Sorry for your loss.

this song, this song when i heard it i was driving home from work and had to pull over and cry lost my dad in 2019 from congestive heart failure and lost my mom(stepmom) in 2017 so moved back in with dad to keep company and be his "Alfred". I still cry and live alone in their old house and miss both of them but especially dad. As he got weaker he relied on me more, one time i helped him get out of his chair by usual hugging method, he hugged me and almost cried apologizing and told me he loved me and i got dust in my eye. told him that he did not need to apologize, this what i was supposed to do as his son to pay him back for all the sacrifices he made providing for me and raising me to be the man i am today. This past February of 2023 i had a medical emergency, i had chest pain that would not go away even with my heart medication, i went from minor emergency to ICU for observation due to EKG being normal but my hormones in blood work showed signs of a heart attack. The next day i had a Cathertization done and my cardiologist told me i needed emergency triple bypass for 3 blockages at 90%, i cried cause i was scare at 41 years old and not having anyone but my sister and her family but living alone. During surgery I did not dream but instead when i was in the Post Surgery recovery ward i swore i felt hands on my shoulders and rubbing my head like my dad used to do when i was little telling me i was gonna be ok. I never told anyone that part because i was afraid i would not make it, while i stayed in hospital some nights i felt someone holding my hand but no one was there and i swear it was my dad and my mom there keeping me company.
