Mamamoo are aka kpop's vocal queens and are probably the most respected girl group in S Korea both within the music industry and by the general public of all ages, not just young kpop fans. With that said, their album sales and popularity lag behind the most popular groups like Blackpink and Twice, partly because Mamamoo were the first group to debut under a tiny new company called RBW back in 2014. The most popular kpop groups are almost always under the big 4 agencies that dominate the Korean music industry and tho RBW has risen on the back of Mamamoo to become a mid-sized company they still suck at promoting their artists, none of whom have achieved the level of commercial success you'd expect based on their talent. Mamamoo are an all star group of best friends and each has a successful solo career as well. Trying to rank them is a matter of personal preference since they have such unique, distinctive voices and they're so talented across the board. For example, main rapper Moonbyul would be the main singer in most other girl groups and she won a landslide victory on a competition tv show last year as the best singer among 8 really talented girl group rappers. The members have multiple award winning hit songs as soloists and Mamamoo was the first group to have all members chart on Billboard as solo artists while the group was still active as a unit. The Dingo Killing Voice medley is a good introduction to Mamamoo since it includes snippets of songs from throughout their career from 2014 up til 2020 when the video was filmed but it's just the tip of the iceberg in their lengthy and extremely diverse discography. They have dozens of singles and albums as a group, solo or subunit and their discography ranges from jazz, swing, hip hop and latin pop to bossa nova, ballads, reggaeton, rock, EDM, pop dance tracks, and more. People often say Mamamoo can sing anything and write a song about anything and they have a bunch of crack songs on unusual topics to prove it (dad jokes, panties, shoes, recipes, their height, etc). And they're even better live than on record because of their world class vocals, charismatic stage presence and bff team chemistry. I agree that a lot of great music came out in 2018 and it was one of the best and most important of Mamamoo's career. In 2018 they launched their year-long four album series 4 Season 4 Color in which they released one album per season. Each album had a theme season and color and each title track matched the season & color with a stage of love in a four part relationship cycle. Each member was assigned a color and she performed a self-composed solo song on "her" album in the series. 4 Season 4 Color is the most complex, ambitious project ever done by a girl group and is a landmark accomplishment in Mamamoo's career. You heard parts of all four title tracks in the 4 Season 4 Color project: Starry Night (Spring/Yellow/Attraction), Egotistic (Summer/Red/Passion), Wind Flower (Fall/Blue/Heartbreak), and Gogobebe (Winter/White/Innocence or Unattached). You may have noticed that Innocence should come first but it's a cycle like the seasons so after the heartbreak of a breakup in the fall and being unattached through a winter of emotional hibernation eventually spring comes around and with it comes spring fever, attraction and budding love as the relationship cycle starts all over again. I think Mamamoo has been the best KZfaq rabbit hole, IMO. Good music, great vocals, fantastic live performances with a lot of positive messaging. They've become one of my favorite groups to listen too. Any one of the songs in this performance are worth watching the full MV. As good as the MV's are, the live performances are on another level. Their Immortal Songs Medley is a great place to start for live performances. As far a Moonbyul goes (rapper). She's also a very good vocalist. She was recruited into the group as a vocalist and pushed into rapping. Her solo stuff really shows off her singing voice. As well as the songs she's done in the Mamamoo+ sub-group. Which is Moonbyul and Solar (long dress, power vocals).

Exo and Mamamoo are known as the vocal kings and queens of K-pop. Just for some background as a K-pop fan of many groups, Exo was the top group at the height of their popularity the years after their debut (2012). BTS debuted in 2013 and had a slow beginning but shot to the top around 2017/2018. Mamamoo debut in 2014 and were and still are severely underrated if you just look at their talent and skills. But are highly respected and recognized by their peers and the Korean general public along with having their own solo careers. Your favorite, mine too, Hwasa is probably the most popular with the most successful solo career of the 4. These girls really had to fight their way to where they are today while pulling their almost bankrupt small company up as well.
