this is the first song of her album portals that ends the trilogy of a character called crybaby who goes through a life where she starts off as a child, then goes to school, the dies and it demonstrates her journey through the afterlife in this final album ❤

btw this is like a concept album! her previous albums she was playing a character called “crybaby” but now she’s dead and in her new album she’s getting reborn and growing as a soul!

Melanie always finds new ways to be bizarre and disturbing, but awesome. Its hard to look at that weird character, but its an amazing ambitious reinvention, both musically and visually. And that drop IS amazing. It goes from melancholy to a banger in 2 secomds flat, mid-song. BTW: she's dressed as that character in live shows since then. Its apparently a working practical suit (at least the version with legs and no flying).

Melanie always writes her own music!! she went on a hiatus for a while which explains the whole idea of her coming back. she has a character who she portays in her music called "crybaby" the character died and is now reincarnated as this faerie

This is a continuation from K-12, the girl from the beginning was crybaby, she died and then she turned/was reborn as that creature you saw. You should definitely react to the K-12 movie if your going to listen to the rest of the Portals album cause it holds a strong connection to the album

I just saw her perform this during her Portals concert tour. The production as well as the conceptual material are Brilliant. The song that follows in her live performance isThe Void. It is the extension of this song, it would be a good one to react to next.

You ought to react to the rest of the album. All the songs transition into each other (except maybe 1 or 2) and they’re all weird and phenomenal. Listen to the deluxe tracks too!!!

Y-O-U A-R-E A T-R-I-P every time I watch you. I've never seen Melanie Martinez before but I'll correct that after THIS. That character she's made up as HAS TO be put into something like that movie from the 80s: Dark Crystal. Fascinatingly repulsive and attractive at the same time------WOW

Hello amazing creator if you didn't watch the k-12 film album it will get you some hints about what's happening in this song I'll just spoil a little in the end of the k-12 film crybaby also known as the old melanie martinez went to a door with Kelly I think that's just a theory and she's in this song bring like a reborn and the void as the old melanie martinez crybaby in the start in the song and the old era songs changed the thumbnail to all r.i.p crybaby she has been singing songs for 9 years I think and very cool
